Imagine the scene (on second thoughts, dont)

There I am, engrossed in Kim Newman's fantastic 'Dracula Cha Cha Cha', breezing through it, and loving it, when a name catches my eye - stops me dead in my tracks even.

In the scene (a party to celebrate Dracula's forthcoming marriage) a great number of the worlds most influential undead have put on their best outfits and taken the decidely risky invitation to attend.

Guess which noted Lumlian Vampire was included in this party-going crowd?

The one and only Faethor Ferenczy.

Made me laugh for ages. I love Kim Newman's work, and this little 'nod' to Brian pleased me no end.

So therefore I ask - does anyone else have any examples of their favourite characters 'popping up' in other books?

Some things (and people) are best left buried.

Hmmm... I do recall in Demogorgon, the name 'Shaitan the Unborn' came up a few times...

But Demogorgon was Lumley too, so I guess that doesn't count. lol

In Arthur C. Clarke's "The Ghost From The Grand Banks," he mentions Dr. Susan Calvin, who was a recurring character in some of Isaac Asimov's stories. Clarke and Asimov were best of friends.

Also, in one of the stories in Robert McCammon's "Blue World," he throws out the names of a dozen or so horror authors as street names and such.

Stephen King was always one for doing that kind of thing in his books, especially as most of them were set in the same area around New England. But then everyone already knew that. (Katie stating the obvious...again).

Anne Rice also done it, in either TVL or QOTD, where Marius mentions immortal creatures who soaked up the sun. Which I think were taken from Anne's novel "The Mummy". It's about Ramses II, an Egyptian Pharoh made immortal after taking a elixor made by an Egyptian Alchemist. That was quite a good book if I remember rightly.

Oh and I think it's been mentioned before but did Brian not mention the CDC in one of the Necroscope books?

He sure did Katie.

Mr Lumley sneaked a 'Yog-Sothoth' into Janos' resurrection chant...those damn CCD deities get everywhere...

That's it, I remember now!

And I've just noticed the typo in my last post. Oh well can't always be perfect.
