View Full Version : KeoghCon III ... EDITED POST...

Hello Fellow KeoghCon Attendees...

The Note From Brian has now been removed because it isn't relevant any more. ;)

Yes ... the time is drawing near now.

Lot's of nice things in the goody envelope this year. But to make it easier to manage I'm making it A5 this year.

I did finally get in touch with the hotel and every thing is okay. Don't worry about the room rate. When you check in ... check the price. And when you check out make sure the price is correct as well. If it's wrong just tell them to check out the KeoghCon contract. I'll also have a couple copies of the contract with me just in case. But: the prices for single and double include breakfast. If you don't want breakfast you'll have to battle that out with the hotel yourself.

In light of the problems I've been having with the hotel though I'm seriously be thinking of another venue if there are to be more KCs...

I knew if I nagged Brian long enough, he'd have a change of heart... :D
I know £25.00, may seem a lot to some people, but it's not even 50p a week, and if we can get Ganley and others at the Con, then maybe £30.00, would be closer to the mark...but thats just my opinion.

Anyway the main thing is there is only 13 months to the next Keoghcon...Hoorah

Sounds good to me.

That means I have 13 months to get the wife interested and involved. Maybe then she'll come of her own free will.

I totally agree with Deano.I think that £30 would be fine for the privilige of enjoying a great weekend with friends.I think everyone should try to bring at least one new member.Imagine if we managed to double the people at Keoghcon 3 it would be awesome.I'm going to start on my friends now, probably even my boss who is a big Brian Lumley fan.I'm really excited that we could have a 3rd Keoghcon then the convention in London in 2004.I just don't get out of the house often enough these days.I'm sure we can help out with advertising in the magazine or on the website too.

I think it can be safely said that LL and me are already saving up our 50p's for this.

KC1 was excellent. KC2 was even better so imangine what KC3 can be like!

The thought of W Paul Ganley possibly attending makes it even better. You don't get many chances to have your books signed by the publisher!!

As for the cost of membership. The raffle prizes alone make this worthwhile. How much would you pay on ebay for an original chapter of a Brian Lumley manuscript? And the Kendall painting?

Yup, we WILL be there.

I really don't mind what the Membership fee is, as long as we enjoy ourselves. The proposed day of the Keoghcon is my mothers birthday, which sort of makes me happy and sad.

£30 is pretty good considering the prizes available, the hotel is good, the company better and im getting to know my way around Manchester. You can count myself and Natasha in. Who is already creating yet another costume design. All we need is a "send your cheque now" date.

Can't wait to see you all again.

well, as I nagged and nagged, I suppose I have to be there! seriously though, you'd have to chain me in silver to keep me away from the next one...

With the prospect of other great guests, what can I say? wow!

See you all soon

**SQUEAK**

To say I can't wait is a total understatement!

£25/£30 for tickets is nothing really when you consider what you get out of it, going by this year's events alone, and especially if you include the raffle. Thanks to Brian and Tor, no-one came away empty-handed (we cut their hands off, heh-heh!) And if we have guests of W Paul Ganley's caliber... who isn't jumping at the chance to get all their treasured hard-backs signed? Well worth an extra £5.

Plus the venue is superb... especially as most of us know our way round a little better now; Silky has got us superb room rates for the last two years, and if you don't want to pay extra for breakfast... well, there's a Tesco's five minutes walk away to stock up with snacks and drinks, as well as various take-away places for more substantial meals.

It would be great to spread our net of attendees for next year... I've already started recruiting! And as always, if any non-UK guys are interested, I'm happy to help out as much as possible with travel info etc.

So anyway, here's to making KeoghCon Three a blinding success!! :D

Well, I'd planned on attending this years WFC at the end of this month, but I've cancelled. I think my money would be better spent on this. smile.gif

So I'm going to make every effort to be there next year.

That's about forty-five bucks for me, right?

Geez ... I'm working on it, I'm working on it...

Going over details now. Have to get in touch with the hotel. Soon as that is sorted I'll be able to send the web page info on to Shadoe. Will try to get this done by the end of the month.

For anyone coming across the pond ... not to worry, you'll be given a US address to send your money to. That way there'll be no conversion problems.

Ya'll are getting me excited too early. There's 13 months to go yet ... but don't ask me how many days...

But seriously Nate, if you want to come over, I can help out with accomodation and travel info etc... so many of us here, especially your ole buddies, would love to meet you and will do all we can to haul you over here.

I might even do my Yoda impression, like I did last Sunday in the bar... shame you missed it Tom!

Have been consitering going out again, running it through my mind, can I afford to make the trip again, etc. Then I came back to this page and have made up my mind.....
Yoda impressions, must return for Yoda impressions ;) And Brian of course!!!
I am going to do my best to make it out next year. If I leave the day after Thanksgiving, I will get there Saturday just before everything starts, I hope.

Be warned...Vader won a couple of nine ball tourneys back in the nineties...

If only Shadoe can make it back next year, we can let Jar Jar in on the fun as well!

*Meesa looooves to play with rods and balls!

It was great to meet everyone, I am really looking forward to next year. I will be there the day after the Con and will be spending the following week in London, so I'll be able to vist longer next time.

As a side note, I may be bringing a friend from work who is also devoted to Brian's books.

I don't think he does Yoda impressions though....

Well I hope that my pool partner comes back over, then we'll be able to kick butt again. Just because I was midly intoxicated, imagine thinking that I couldn't play pool.

Hello all,
I wanted to post a note just to say how excited my lady and I are to finially meet Brian, Silky, Debs and our fellow Lumlians. Being a creature of few words let me just say thank you and see you soon as I eagerly await a meeting with the master.

Hello back to you too Mike and I'll look forward to meeting you and your good Lady at KC3.
The important question is though, do you play pool and are you any good?

I missed the pool comp last year but I'm hoping to rectify that by wupping a few Lumlian asses this year grin.gif

HI Motoslave

Welcome to the board. It will be great to meet another of our American Lumlians.
Put your mind at rest about meeting us, we're just an ordinary bunch of weirdos, who like to stalk Brian and Silky ;)

Good morning,
Let's put it this way... I have played pool. But I am sure once the refreshments start flowing, the palying field should even out a bit and besides I am always up for a good wupping.

Relief to hear weirdos abound! I am going to make you prove it!

It's not the standard of pool playing that counts in this case.

It's the banter and watching certain (nameless) members of the board crawling about on the floor, unable to stand up cause he's laughing sooooo much, or maybe he just had too much too drink. (or both!) grin.gif

Anyway, welcome to our family and we are looking forward to meeting you in Manchester.

Hello there, looking forward to meeting you.

I think it's just as much fun if you can't play pool very well, it's the high quality inteligent and sophisticated conversation that matters!
