I'm plannin' on it, Jase. Just have a few details to sort out before I make it official and cough up the registration for the event itself.
...and Vader had me hooked on the dark side before I even had any chest hair, Tops. :D
But the Chuckle Brothers doesn't sound like an evil band of Intergalactic Assasins for the Empire, so I feel safe enough... a little disappointed, but safe. :D

Last year was fantastic, I strongly recommend everyone to try and make it! I can't wait to meet all you people who I didn't get to meet last year, and of course to catch up with those that I did.
Only one thing - I haven't been practicing my pool skills, in fact I haven't played since last year with you guys!

Looks like the Breezer sales in Manchester are going up again this year.
Looks like a good pool competition in the making as well. However, we do need some rules so:
1. Play must be carried out in the style of a Star Wars character.
2. Players must remain on their feet at all times whilst playing a shot(LLamedos should fail here)
3. Jase must improve on his word association skills.
4. The "M" word is only to be used once (Tops/Silver)

We (myself and natasha) missed out on the pool playing last year. But we did hear lots about it and it defiantley sounded like it was fun, with yoda impressions. Im raring to go to Keoghcon 3 and am counting the days. (funny how everything seems to go by so fast)

Although a lot of booze was supped at last year's pool competition, I remember my American pool partner and I won quite a few games.
Hopefully the Trans-Atlantic team will re-form and triumph this year as well.
I've heard from a certain Information Minister and he reckons the infidels will commit suicide in their thousands at the pool table, so Team US/UK are odds-on favourite.
I just hope there's a crowd of Italian air hostesses sat nearby again. ;) Mamma Mia!

I hope they have more Breezer flavors too. Either that, or I'll have to start drinking other stuff. No, I don't want to end up on the floor like my other pool partner. :D

We are looking forward to 2K3 as well. I haven't booked our room yet but I'll be doing that sometime in May. I'll also be calling the hotel and checking up on them.
Well, we will now have what will be called the "Official KeoghCon Goody Envelope." I've already done up a couple of things to stick in there with your program just to make it a little nicer. This will more than likely become a standard thing if there are more KeoghCons.

This is really for any fellow Lumlians travelling from Yorkshire to the November shennanigans by Train..... especially for you Silver!!
Quite a few really at this stage (although the timetable alters slightly at the back end of September) ... this might give you some idea -
DEPARTS LEEDS -- 1322, 1352, 1422 i.e every 30 mins
The same train departs from DEWSBURY at 1334, 1403, 1434 again every 30 mins.
These take just over an hour from Dewsbury to arrive at the Manc airport station.
I will check when the new timetable comes out in September, they may be a little less frequent but still reckon they'll be quite a few....

just a quick note for anyone travelling up from London by train.
I had a look into trvel prices yesterday as I don't know whether I'll be mobile, and discovered that flying from heathrow is only £8.50 more expensive, and it leaves you 3 miles from the hotel (cheap cab ride), rather than travelling from the centre of Manchester when you don't know the way. This is also a much quicker way of travelling!
I will be booking my hotel room soon smile.gif

Had a look around... flights from London to Manchester vary from about £50 to £90, and take usually about 1hr... so a third of the train journey!
As well as Heathrow, you can also fly from Gatwick or London City Airport (a 15 min bus ride for me!!), although both of these are slightly dearer than Heathrow.
If anyne's interested, check out Travelocity (http://res.travelocity.co.uk/lognlogin.ctl?Service=TCYUK&tr_module=AIRG&seq=-12029397641063802066) for flight info.

on another note, tried to book my room last night, I mentioned about Keghcon, and the woman said she didn't have a clue what I was talking about, and said I should call back today when the reservatiosn woman is there (between 10.30am and 7pm).... I will try again later smile.gif

Wouldn't hurt to confirm... gonna do mine very soon, as I've had hotel nightmares this year.
Couldn't get a room for a friend's wedding, as his wedding booked out every room in town (!), and a Holiday Inn managed to have no trace of a booking I'd made, despite me having a reference number, and also giving my credit card number. I made a huge fuss over this ("you mean your staff take down credit card numbers for their own use?"), and got a night free!! So not all bad I guess!

Advice for anyone thinking of flying inland... Travelocity is a good way of finding out what's available, but for cheaper deals, go direct to the airline... VLM are £15 cheaper than the same flight booked through Travelocity.
Worked out that even with the cheapest train fare, I'll be no worse off flying to Manc, when cab fares are taken into consideration. And it's quicker and more fun!

Definitely coming home on Sunday, and looking forward to sightseeing in London with Mish and Mike, but not sure which day I'm showing up... the Thursday night trip into town is always such fun, and if I fly up on Thursday I might get a little time to recover before Eeyore drags me out shopping on Friday!!
So possibly Thu-Sun for me... possibly just Fri-Sun, who knows (not me!)

Some info for you.
The Hotel: Room Booking Worried about your room contact Alison Hutchinson. She's the Events Manager who is taking care of the event and rooms. Not to mention the fact that she is a huge Lumlian herself.
The Hotel: Room Rate I have room rates contracted for £40.00 single with breakfast and £50.00 double with breakfast. So you can't be charged any more than those two rates. If they charge you less, well then count your blessings.
Programming Yes, we are going to have two possibly three panels. We might see if we can arrange an interview with Paul Ganley or if not possibly a question & answer session. Early in November I'll be working on preliminary programming and two weeks before the con all paid attendees will receive a preview programming post. Those of you who have already paid your membership fee are on my KCIII mailing list. So come on the rest of you ... cough up! Time is slipping away. grin.gif
Panels: Beginning of November we'll be calling on victims, er, volunteers for panelists. Also, if you have any suggestions for panel topics, by all means drop me a line silky@brianlumley.com with the subject PANELS we are open for suggestions.
Reading As as par, Brian will do a reading. But, of course, he doesn't know what yet. And that will probably be 45 minutes to an hour.

I phoned the hotel to confirm my booking today. The events manager Alison Hutchinson, has apparently left her job, but no worries as the staff were extremely helpful.
It's a good job I did phone to confirm, as they had me down for £60.00 per night (double-ensuite) but in no time, they had changed it to £50.00. grin.gif

As I'm feeling organised, I might even go book my flight now!!

Ah well ... good venue but it's very difficult dealing with this hotel.
But no matter who you talk to we've got a contract in black & white with the prices.
Fortunately I'll be there in enough time to deal with these people and make sure everything is as we need it.
I'll be calling the hotel tomorrow to see just what is going on. I have a person to talk to that I've dealt with before who is now a manager, but, she's in a meeting this afternoon. However, I will keep calling until I talk to her.

I checked with them as well .. I'd booked via the 'net earlier in the year and noted that I was attending the convention. I did get an email confirmation.
They had my booking and said that everything was okay ... so fingers crossed.
If not we might have to stay up all night drinking and making merriment!!!! grin.gif
Either that or maybe a kip on Lord Peders floor .. if memory serves he's only about 20 minutes away from the hotel!!! ;) grin.gif

Your more than welcome to kip on me floor mate, and It'l take ya less than 20mins to get there as I'm in the hotel for 2 nights.

Righty Oh...
I have finally gotten through to the person I needed at the hotel.
Although the staff have been told about the con she will reiterate it to them again.
When you actually check in make sure that the rate is correct. If it isn't then you can tell them check the KeoghCon contract for the prices.
Whew, it's like pulling teeth...

Seems like it just depends on who you speak to at the hotel.

Me & Mazrah have just got back in from the best yet Keoghcon.
When I recover i shall post a bit more info, but the highlights were (in no specific order)
meeting our new American friends Mike & Michelle from New Jersey, Botch & joe from boston and W. paul Ganley from Buffalo who was the nicest guy you could care to meet, with loads of amusing and interesting stories to relate, as well as Dave Kendall who never seemed to tire of drawing great horror pics for anyone who asked (thanks again Dave grin.gif )
All the usual Lumlians were there, including the Lupine Lord Keith, who managed to turn up on time this year ;) & nick Austin. I'd like to finish with a big special thanks to go to Brian, Silky & Debs for making it all possible. grin.gif

as usual (see KeoghCon 1) i didn't win anything on the raffle, but i got a great surprise when Brian announced he had something for those who didn't win anything...that was me and one other person i think, we got the first 5 books in the US paperback edition of the Necroscope!!!!!!
Peter then went up and he got Lost Years and Resurgence!!!!!! (he's actually in the middle of Lost Years) so THANKYOU so much, it was great and thanks to Debs Brian and Silky for putting so much hard work into this.

Hi All,
I've just been asked to post this by fantastic artist Dave Kendall:
To everyone at Keoghcon 3.
Thanks for one hell of a great weekend. It was such a friendly get together. I felt like I'd known most of you for about 10 years rather than 10 hours. I can see why you have such an attachment to this Con. You should all be proud of it. Thanks for making this newbie so welcome. Thanks also, to a few of you for reinforcing the fact I look like a wookie.
Highlights for me must be the Pool game which will probably go down in Keoghcon history. The sight of Keith Grant Evans being pursued around the table by a very loud, very drunk, god knows what, will probably stay with me for a very long time. I'm still trying to recover from the effects of that night. Whether I'll ever erase the rifle man shaped stain that is Botch from my memory, only time will tell. A great guy, and tornado of energy.
Thanks especially to Brian, Silky and Debs for all the hard work.
I'll try and catch up on some of Brian's other universes(apart from Necroscope) in time for next year. Roll on Devon.
All the very best to you all.
Dave Kendall.

:( I can't believe it's over. This year's con was the best con yet. But unfortunately I am back home. Kevin got home at about 4 ish and I only got home about two hours ago. My train was delayed and even better it broke down twice. I hate being home. I will be in the 24hr comp lab practically all night. If someone wants to keep me company - here is my email address bebe_eeyore@fsmail.net. I can't recieve pms.
But I would go through this day a million times just to go to another con. It was great. It was a pleasure to meet all the newbies. Sophie looked stunning; Botch was funny;Paul Ganley is one of the most interesting people to talk to .... and everybody I met there was the nicest people you could ever meet. smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif tongue.gif
p.s Thankyou Brian, Silky and Debs for a wonderful weekend.
