Why bother with KeoghCon IV?

This is just a little post to help anyone not sure about KeoghCon IV, so that I can maybe help them make a decision on whether it would be worth joining up with the Great Majority later this year in lurrrrvely Devon one way or tuther.

What is it???

Well it’s basically a convention where people with a love of Brian’s work’s come together and talk about ... well, Brian’s works.

But that’s just the basic outline, KeoghCon itself is more like a small gathering of friends than a convention and has a much more personal feel to it, plus you get to meet chat and drink with the master himself, which on it’s own is worth it.

There’s also a raffle with awesome prizes where no one goes away empty handed.

What’s it like???

I was extremely sceptical myself when I first attended at KCII, as the only person I had any contact with prior to it was the lovely Debs (GG).

I thought that maybe conventions were not really my thing and that I wouldn’t fit in, and in the end I only went because of my love of the Necroscope series and the fact that I’m a tight arse and had already paid my fee.

I was wrong. KCII was great, nay fantastic, and my only regret was that I had to leave early as there was a little matter of me flying off to Australia for six months.

As soon as I’d finished my travels I discovered that there was to be a KCIII in November, so in preparation for this I subscribed to the Message board so that I might be able to get to know a few people better before this great event came round again.

This was by far the best thing I could of ever done, it allowed me to get to know the many and wonderful people who inhabit brianlumley.com

And so KCIII came around and I went along with a skip in my step and stayed for the whole weekend this time.

New friendships were made, bonds between people I already considered friends were strengthened, and much drink and laughter was had.

Why bother???

All in all I thought that KCIII was a great success. I got plenty of books signed like many others, all due to the tireless efforts from our beloved Mr Lumley.

I now have memories galore of the days spent in such wonderful peoples company, which will stay with me forever, and I just can’t wait for KCIV as I reckon it can only get better. It’s now officially the number one event in my calendar, even above Christmas and Manchester United’s annual Premiership trophy lifting ceremony (please don’t hold that against me. I’d hate to think I’d alienated anyone through my football allegiances)

I can’t seem to sum it all up, there’s so much more to it than that; maybe someone else will post here and share their experiences of KC. So all I’ve got left to say is … Why bother with KeoghCon IV???????? Because it’s BLOODY BRILLIANT that’s why!!!
