Yee haw, we now have a venue. grin.gif

Over the next week I'll be working on the web page info to send off to Shadoe so he can put up on the site.

The date is Saturday, October 2, 2004. ;)

Well, I'm really well pleased.

Although I was disappointed at the results of our first search, it was not my original first choice.

We tried another venue yesterday and were disappointed because they were fully booked for the year, which in the end worked out for the best.

My original first choice was a place right on the seafront. There are two prime places but they are way too expensive in their accommodation rates.

But we got a place almost on the seafront just two hotels away on the top of a hill. And from the lounge window you can see the seafront and it's a short walk to everything. And they will also have sea view rooms.

This hotel even has a website you can check out.

Well, enough of this for now you'll see everything on the web page for KCIV as soon as I get it finished. I spent a good part of today getting information on it so within a week's time I'll get it off to Dave.

I just wanted to share my excitement we are going back to the hotel tomorrow to actually look at the regular rooms. And taking some books with us. The owner reads Stephen King and says she'll be in the room for the readings ... we're off to a good start.

She also states that if people want to buy drinks all night she'll be happy to stay up and serve them! grin.gif

I want to try and get a map of town center and Dave can put it on the board for me and also some other pictures.

Hopefully most of you regulars will be able to make it. I can assure you that you won't be disappointed. You will be right where all the action is...

All for now...

I'm already packing for this:)

She also states that if people want to buy drinks all night she'll be happy to stay up and serve them! this has absolutely no pull for me whatsoever ;)

Lokust,

Check this thread out:

Why go to KeoghCon IV (http://www.brianlumley.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=23;t=000055)

I think you'll find that most of us (if not all of us) that have been to a KeoghCon all feel the same way. I've been to the last three, and they've all been brilliant, each one superceding the previous.

Lokust, I guess the prices will be on the webpage as soon as all the information is available. I gotta get myself in gear, and sort out payment dates before the webpage can be finished, so I'll hurry up! ;)

Don't worry, you will not be lacking in information! This is one of the highpoints of the year for most of us who have been before, so we'll be yapping away from now til October!

I'm working on it! I'm working on it!

I spent several hours yesterday working on the new info page. I've still got some bits to do, get Brian to read it then I can send it on to Dave.

We went to the hotel again this morning and actually looked at the bedrooms. Now mind, they are small but you only want to crash there right? They all have the necessary bed, and they are all ensuite. And there are coffee/tea making facilities in the rooms as well. And even a tv is you desire to use it. And breakfast is included in the price if you so desire one.

But you'll see more on this once the page is up. ;)

We took the owners each a hc British Deadspeak and they were chuffed to bits! Sue is really looking forward to sitting in on the readings ... this is really great for me because I can go right to the place and speak in person. No problems. And these folks are very interested in our event and they want it to go well. We've already told them that if all goes well as we expect it to, that this will become the new home for KC on a yearly basis.

Gosh, I need to get on with my work. At this stage I am really excited that we have a venue. Brian wasn't worried about it ... well, that's Brian. But me ... well, I do the worrying for both of us.

Before I go though I'll make this point. Once the information is on the site...

Hotel Note of Importance: It is suggested that if you know you are definitely going book your room as quickly as possible! This is the information given to me by the hotel. They are a coach hotel and at that time of year they still book up. Last year at this time you could still sit outside in the day and evening without shivering. Right now there is plenty of room but the longer you wait you may end up being left out ... they do want to accommodate all of us but at the same time they can't hold rooms in the hopes that a month before the event you decide to book. We booked our room yesterday. grin.gif

So ... unfortunately, if you snooze ... you may lose and we don't want that to happen. You don't want to end up in a bed and brecky half a mile away.

All for now...
