As any useful travel comes to light it shall be posted here. I'll do what I can to try and make it as easy as possible.

Fly.be now runs a service from Edinburgh & Glasgow … Belfast City and Dublin to Exeter airport which is only 30 miles from Torquay. There you will have an option of taking a commuter train to Torquay or a taxi.

This can also be of benefit to any Yanks coming over. I know Continental operates a flight from Newark, NJ to Edinburgh & Glasgow. And I’m sure they could book your connection on a Fly.be flight. It would make travel much easier getting down to Torquay than coming into London and then working your way down from there. It’s only a two hour flight from Scotland to Exeter. And it may also save you having to spend a night at the airport the night before so you don't miss your flight back home.

How you want to travel is entirely up to you but this is at least one option you can check out.

Especially considering train times range from 7.30 to 9.30 hours - and all require at least 2 changes, some much more...

Well, I do know that from Aberdeen to Torquay it's an 11 hour journey. And the trains aren't as reliable as they used to be.

But this is only offered as a suggestion. You folks will have to do what's best for your individual needs.

If you're outside UK the best time to get here is on a Thursday, then if anything goes amiss at least you'll get here for Friday...

Just planning ahead. ;)

This (http://travelocity.com/) might also be a useful link if anyone's planning on flying... or for bus, coach and train, this (http://www.traveline.org.uk/) would be more suitable.

I found out from my travel agent that Exeter Airport and Plymouth Airport are about equal distances away from Torquay. She said she always tells everyone to allow an hour taxi ride just in case there's traffic at particular parts of the day.
