View Full Version : THIS YEAR'S CON...KCV

Well, it was about time I closed the next year's con thread since it is now that next year.

We can continue on using this thread for any discussions on KC5.

As far as the yanks coming over, there is Shadoe and possibly his new lady, there are John & Carol, Monte and Kandie Ogle (you'll love these two). Monte is a collector extraordinaire. And then there's Allen & Chris Koszowski. So that makes 7 or 8. And I've just had another inquire about it.

So there you go ... news spreads far and wide... grin.gif

Silky

Very few people ever survive step 4. grin.gif

I'm working on a nice item for the goodie envelope. Not really sure what goes in there this year ... and don't anyone dare mention raffle tickets if you value your life! ;)

Silky
March 13th, 2005, 04:07 PM
BTW, does anybody ever save/use any of the stuff in the envelope? Cause it they don't it's not worth me doing ... just checking...

I must admit that we have all the KC envelopes and contents.

This years Con will be even better for us as we are staying in Devon for a week after so we do not have to rush back up the motorway to get back in time for work.

I still have my envelopes grin.gif

Well, with it being a week earlier this year let's keep our fingers crossed for some super weather!

Mind, I'm not saying that there'll be a KCVI ... but I've got us pencilled in at the hotel...

Brian and I went to the hotel this morning and had a nice little chat with Sue. Since the hotel is ours for the weekend I was checking things out for a different layout this year to make us more comfortable.

We'll probably layout in the main room and leave the small room for the buffet and breakfasts. But if this is the case, smokers will have to stay at the back of the room, which I don't consider too much of a problem since you couldn't smoke in the small room anyway. We've also been told they have a karaoke machine which means we'll have a microphone so everyone will be able to hear what's going on.

Gotta run for now ... have to start my column for the NL in two weeks time...

I've been working on stuff for the goodie envelope and started printing some of it off. The more I can get done before the summer begins the better, then all I have at the last is programming and raffle tickets ... ah, I can't believe the stuff that's been set aside already. I know we always say each raffle is better than the last but this year will be a super raffle as we will be celebrating our fifth KeoghCon. Who would have thought? We may not be able to have a KCVI because there might not be enough people to attend...

I wanted October 1 for this year so as not to conflict with anyone's summer holiday ... but it was already booked ... so we've got the 24th Sep. which is fine because it's a week earlier and weather should be nicer ... she says fingers crossed. So I decided to have Sue pencil us in for 2006 so we'd get the date we wanted.

And, the only reason we got the 24th September was because a coach group cancelled out. The only other date that was available without going into the summer was end of October ... and that's too late for KC.

So there you go.

Oh I really hope there will be a KCVI as I've already started my funding regiment for next year.

Let's just put it this way, if all goes well, and people are willing to attend there'll probably be a VI but for now let me just concentrate on V ... I've just today printed off the autograph cards, now all I have to do is sign them and pass them on to Brian...

Silky is right, lets not concern ourself with VI......because chances are i might not be able to make a third one........in a row.
So..what about VII? ;)

From what I can tell about this one (having never been to 1-4), there will be a sixth. Hotel booked already, people uber-excited, etc.

Does it count that I skipped from step 1 to 4 without 2 and 3 done? ;) Uh oh, gotta get up and mix another drink....

Goth Girl

Yup, get all the drinking practice you can, you'll need it... not that I'm implying we're a bunch of drunks, but...! smile.gif

Your not! ok, the bar must stay open 24 hours all the time. ;)

Silky
March 23rd, 2005, 05:29 PM
Boozers ... us ... naw ... we just like to have a good time.

And for any of you newbies, you won't be new long.

And the bar stays open as long as you're buying drinks! That's a promise.

March 24th, 2005, 02:05 AM
so whats the score with next years con, i hope to attend if i can and will be giving it my best shot ,are all the cons booked out every time?

DC 1
March 24th, 2005, 03:40 AM
Methinks some folks are getting the wrong idea about us.

It has been implied that we drink lots of alcohol, play pool into the wee hours, take over the bar and generally have a good time.

Seriously, no matter what your background, if you attend a con as a newbie, you will leave with a whole new group of real friends and some great memories, (what you can remember through the drunken haze)

If there is a VI, get in early and book up once Silky gives the heads up, you will not regret it one bit.

March 24th, 2005, 05:20 AM
well let me tell you if theres no room at the inn at the next con ill find a stable somewhere like jesus did and get my head down that way, whatever it takes grin.gif

p.s we all not getting the wrong idea as its well docuemented that you do indeed drink lots of alcohol play a few games of pool, take over the bar and generally have a very good time ;)

When you get a bunch of fun people together, it's best to stay 'well oiled'. ;)

I can honestly say I'm working my tolerance way up so maybe I can drink at least one person under the table. ;)

In all seriousness, large amounts of alcohol probably only makes the event louder, not better.

Oh, no, we didn't used to book full up when we were in Manchester because is was a Britannia hotel with 400+ rooms, but in Torquay our hotel only has 26 rooms. But once I give the go ahead after KCV folks will need to book up early. It only requires a one night deposit and I've already arranged with Sue, the owner, that I will be the only one taking bookings. She's going to gladly leave it all to me ... and I don't mind. She's been trying to give me a job for a year now...

Shortly, on a nice sunny day, I'll be hitting the other hotels/b&bs just a five minute walk away from our hotel. I'll get the rates for anyone that wants to come.

Actually if everyone comes that is supposed to we'll have 48 attendees this year including the guests. So actually, there is only room for 2 more members...

Well, smack me with a string of spaghetti!

If everyone attends that is supposed to ... it's 38 not 48. Thank goodness, I near went out of my mind thinking 48. ;)

We'll have enough squeezing us all in as it is. But at least have all the space to ourselves.

But just a warning to the smokers ... there are still the designated smoking and non-smoking areas designated by the owners and they do ask that you confine it to those areas for the benefit of others who do not smoke.

Since we have our first two paid memberships I've put up the Official List.

Wow, won't be long now five and a half months which hopefully be enough time for me to get my **** together!

And I've also started the Call for Panel Suggestions post. I did that because I know everyone uses the board at different times and spaces of time.
