ne1 know if there will ever be a keogh con kids can come to, cos i bet there's a lot of kids that read brian's book's so i wondered if one of the fututre cons would be a kids sort of one or would there be a seperate one for kids?

To be honest, we've never really had the issue come up. I don't think it's viable though, given the large quantities of alcohol, and some of the content of the discussions.
Financially as well it wouldn't really work, as I don't know if there's be enough young people able to make it, to make it financially worthwhile. I know it shouldn't be about the money, but you couldn't expect Brian and Silky to put time and effort (which they do put a lot of into the KeoghCons) to make a monetary loss.

Yeah I think that the adult content is probably the primary reason and the fact that it's held on licenced premesis.
I know there's no rating system on books like there is on films but if there were Brian's would be 18, I don't know if maybe in the future, not that it has come u[ there could be something like kids could come as long as they're accompanied by an adult or something?
Obviously I'm just speculating here, I have no say in it what so ever and there's still no getting around the fact that it's on licenced premesis

It is a shame about the kids thing. I know for a fact that my two little horrors would certainly love to partake. But, until the Draconian, nay, indeed Machiavellian Licensing Laws in this country are totally reviewed, this is the way things are gonna be.
Of course, GG has it right too. The adult themes and late nights plus expense would almost certainly put the kybosh on any young person participation - which is a shame, cos there are some very smart young uns out there and I think their input would be, shall we say, inventive - as only kids can be. :(
Let's wait and see what happens. The future is a devious thing!!

Might I add, there is nothing stopping people arranging a Lumlian themed, family-friendly get-together... it just wouldn't be an official, Lumley attended KeoghCon.
We used to arrange loads of meetings around the country, through the Message Board, until KC pretty much took over. So if anyone wants to take it upon themselves to get the future generation of Lumley readers together, go for it!
(Only not in this forum, Settlement would be the best place for such discussions)

If you go to settlement we are trying to arrange an informal get together for the summer right now, if the final date and venue suit all are welcome.

Settlement is the right place for it to be, sorry if you can't post there yet (better get your elete membership sorted!) but you can still read it so you'll know where and when if you can make it.

Chris, you do have access to read settlement.. you just can't post there....
I will quickly cover the difference between normal and elite membership:
Normal can post to all the necroforums, the helllands gate, kc, and board info (someone correct me here if I am wrong...) You can also read settlement and mediaspire.
elite members can read necroscope news, and can also post to the retreat, where off topic is a way of life smile.gif
Noone but the mods and necro news columnists can post to starside.
I also think non elite members can't post private messages...
Sorry to be off topic in here, but I do feel it's kind relevant at this time.

Cheers Mate. I was aware that I could read most of this stuff in various forums. I was having a blonde (?) moment. And I'm not blonde-ist, really. Must sort out annual membership. Anyway, the info may provide useful for other readers, newcomers etc, who aren't too sure themselves. That's it. No more Off Topic!! Cheers T. smile.gif

Yes, it is a shame that there are a large amount of readers who can't attend the cons. Even during the day is out because the consumption of alcohol goes throughout the entire weekend.
Maybe in future ... who knows. However, anyone under the legal age would have to bring a parent or of age sibling along ... and that would be a bummer for the young'uns.

Good point! I wonder if my kids'd want to be seen in the same room/venue as me! Now that they can talk, (damn), I'm beginning to wonder!!
Still, let's hope something can be arranged for the future. It's a great idea though. grin.gif

Haven't you got some homework to get on with (laughs in a baying-like manner?) Can we get back on topic?
Doesn't anyone else have any input? I seriously think this would be a great way to gather info on what all us Mums n Dads here think on maybe having a get together sometime in the future!
