I've noticed recently that maybe a few people are ripping off are beloved Necroscope, can't be sure but 2 T.V. programs have recently come to my attention (DeadZone/Haunted)where the principal guy in both shows talks to the dead,he's the only one that can and then in both shows they both go off and avenge the poor departed souls.
Saying that though I've never actualy watched either show on the pricipal that in the write ups and the T.V. ads both shows have a striking similarity to Necroscope so I refuse to have any truck with them.
Has anyone else seen or heard of these shows and do you think that there a rip-off of Harry Keogh Necroscope or am I not delveing deep enough into these shows and that they are really quite different ?

Well, Deadzone is accually based on the Stephen King book of the same name written over 20 years ago, I believe. The main character Johnny doesn't talk to the dead, he has visions, etc. smile.gif Not near the Necroscope scene at all. As for Haunted, haven't seen it.

The only TV show I can think of that same "haven't I seen/read this before" is Stargate SG1 which I think is a great show. :D It is about a "gate" which transports travellers to different planets in which they meet races which were brought as slaves from a race of aliens called the Gou'uld. The Gou'uld itself is almost snake-like, attaching itself to the main internal organs & such of its host. Because of the Gou'auld, they live for very long periods of time and can heal themselves very quickly. Our Earth's history (mainly ancient Egypt) plays a big part, in that the Gou'auld system "Lords" ;) think of themselves as Gods.
Oh yeah, did I mention their eyes glow too. Lots of similarities with that show. ;)

Some good points .... what about 'Monsters Inc' - that uses the premise of using doors like the Mobius Continuum?? I don't know ..... food for thought

did you see UltraViolet?? they had a team kind of like e-branch without the powers, but they did kill vampires (as far as the similarity goes).

Yeah I caught that one Tops it was well before I'd ever heard of Brian and his books so I wouldn't have clicked on the similarities with E-branch, it was actually one of my fave progs at the time and the first series ended with a bit of a cliff hanger but they never got round to making a second series which left me slightly frustrated !

My mate doesn't actually read Brian's work (at the moment anyway!) but when he saw the Haunted he told me it did remind him of what I'd told him about Necroscope (and the blurbs he'd read).

Unsure of this one folks but my mate who is currently reading the lost years has informed me that the wearwolf clan in the movie underworld are named the Lykan's

Now that is a bit similar isn't it??????????

"Haunted" was canned. thank god. and "Deadzone" is a neat show - i'm addicted. it's nothing like out dear Necroscope, tho, and i don't think anything could ever come close. i sure wish Necroscope could be made into a series of GOOD (read fantastic!!!) movies, with full creative control and the final say. we are so due for some good vampire movies.

...feme.

it would be harder to do as a movie than tlor, in my opinion.

I mentioned this to Botch and Joe at KC3 but I don't think it's been said here before, I think it would be extremely hard to make a Necroscope movie, but it might work as an animated movie.

It would be a lot easier to create warriors and such creatures in animation as you wouldn't be restricted by trying to make it fit in with real people and scenery.

and with animation, you can make as many episodes as you need to to tell the story correctly. as opposed to film with your time restrictions.
