Hi All

Newbie just jumped through the gate and it's nice to be here !

I have a few questions about Lost Years Volume 1 (that's where I am in this great saga) here they are:

1. Does anyone know where I can get hold of The Lost Years Volume 1 (UK). I have been told that it is out of print and the closest I have got is a hardback version (I'd prefer paperback) for.. get this £85 !

2. Are there any plans to reissue the book

3. Which brings me to question 3. I can get hold of the US version. Can anyone tell me what (if any) the difference is between the UK & US versions ?

Thanks in advance.

The books are great and I really want to continue the saga.

Hello and welcome!

I didn't realise Lost Years was out of print over here? But then, I've had both for quite a while, so I don't really look. I think Amazon.co.uk has it...

A Highbury guy? Have you tried the Fantasy Centre on Holloway Road? (sorry if that's a usual haunt of yours!)

I'm not sure what the differences are between the US and UK versions... I have both versions of a couple of different books, and the difference is negligable to me. I'm sure I'm probably wrong, but I would guess it's mostly spelling and maybe the occasional turn of phrase where Brits would word something differently to our US counterparts (although I've probably oversimplified the whole editing process quite horribly!)

Hi there mate ...

Yeh, Lost Years Part 1 is out of print here in Blighty. The £85 you've been quoted does seem to be on high side!

Ebay does have it on now and again .. if not try the amazon.com site in America, theres no real difference except its known as Resurgence over the pond.

Happy Hunting ...

I've seen hardback and paperback copies of Vol 1 and 2 for sale on Abe (http://www,abebooks.co.uk) for as little as £4.00

There are normally UK and US versions for sale.

Thanks guys/gals for the respones

Goth Girl, not from Highbury(my parents are though) it's my spiritual home for all thing football related. I'll look up the Fantasy Centre next time I'm up there, usally see train, tube, pub, stadium, pub, tube, train and not much else.

Lupa, I don't get why Vol 1 is out of print but you can pick up Vol 2 in nearly every book shop in the country. Surely you would have thought they would make both out of print, thanks for the Ebay and Amazon suggestions.

DC, Thanks for Abe thought I'd found it in paperback but on further inspection it turned out to be Vol 2 again more hunting involed.

I'd get the american version over amazon, its what I had to do for the first volume, and then they re-issued the two a few months after

Hi mate
The next time your in London, try out the forbidden planet. I was there earlier this week, and i'm almost sure they had both books, and if they have'nt they do have quite a few of brians other books, including Ganley's grin.gif

Oh yeah and incase anyone out there hasn't been there for a while, it has moved from oxford street, to Shaftsbury avenue. But don't worry, it is only around the corner from the old shop.

There is indeed a new branch opening on Shaftesbury Avenue on 18th October though I am unsure if this means the closure of the New Oxford St branch.

Forbidden planet London now appears be a seperate chain from all the other stores

Official Site here with maps

I can remember when there was only one on Denmark St and it was a better shop by far. How old am I?

Old/new....it's still all Oxford street to me ;)
The old shop is still there until Christmas, but the downstairs book dept, and comic/manga sections have moved to Shafstbury avenue.
The only thing left in the "old" shop is sale items of figures and toys..
