I just noticed something in the chapter titles for The Source that I thought might be relevant to bring up regarding my little naming game in Book Discussions.

In the later chapters of the book, there are some chapters that have, not slashes, but dashes separating segments within chapters...just like in the later (6 thru 13) books.

But as with the rest of the chapter titles in the (last three of the) original five, they are generally one word segment titles. Example:

Castles-Travellers-The Projekt

I should have looked further into the book so I'd have remembered this. redface.gif But what I'm saying is that this might be necessary in these books as well. But try to keep them short and sweet...in keeping with the other three.

You can also post your thought processes as you named your chapter in here if you want.

The first one I did is pretty self-explanatory but the next one (chapter 4) was a little tougher. I almost went with Dragosoni Returns Home or The Cruciform Hills, but the one I used seemed to fit better. I didn't even see it referred to as the Cruciform Hills in the chapter when I read it this time. I could have sworn it did! Like Chris Burman from ESPN says, "That's why they play the game!" (Read the chapter. :D)

Anyway...that's it. smile.gif

(If you're really itchin' to post your smartass, witty titles, do it discreetly...like at the bottom of a post in here or something. Dave can always edit if he's inclined. :D I've changed my mind on it...doesn't really seem like a mockery anymore as long as we're doing them seriously too. All in fun.) Could be entertaining. smile.gif

My first thought for Chapter Two was to name it 'Necroscope' since it's the first time we meet Harry Keogh and the previous chapter was christened 'Necromancer', but Harry is not a Necroscope then and what would you call the later chapter where he fully becomes one? It might be clumsy to start the first sentence with a repeat of the Chapter Title but Harry Keogh is what this chapter is all about.
Remember neither Alec nor the reader is made aware of who the ghost in the prologue is until later on. Just as chapter one introduced a new character by naming him, so now does chapter two.

The smart ass title that stuck in my head for a while after dismissing "necroscope" was "Student Bodies".

As an aside, Harry is either a Harold or a Henry. Years ago I thought Keogh (an old gaelic name from the west of Ireland) was pronounced K(e)-off because (Vincent Van) Gogh is pronounced goff in the UK. Assuming his first name was Henry he'd be 'enry k(e)off. Transposing gives us Keoffenry. Coffinry!. A word that looks as though it might exist but doesn't. Just a thought... and a stretch at that. smile.gif

Now we just need to get someone else involved or I'll have to change the rules!! :(

Or maybe two or three someones else? :D You never know...maybe they'll be liked so much they will be used in future printings. :D

Hey, I can dream, right? It's all about motivation. smile.gif
