I have a website I put up (still under construction) with quotes and exceprts from the Necroscope books. I don't want to do anything I'm not allowed to so can someone tell me if I need to include copyright info or something else to make sure I'm legit?
I am perfectly willing to take thee site down if necessary, but I'd like to help "spread the word" about Brian Lumley's Necroscope books.
The url is:

Thanks

Nice shrine you have there. I'm sure the images are free, and the quotes and excerpts are cool. But getting permission is always safest, as you obviously know. I'm sure your link to this site will carry some weight! smile.gif
Your best bet (assuming you've already scanned the website for relevant info) would be to contact the webmaster here:

Check out the copyright info near the front of any of the books... you do need to have express permission to reproduce any content in any form.
Not trying to rain on your parade, I'm sure we all agree that the more Lumley the better, but better safe than sorry... copyright issues can be sensitive and complicated! Good luck with that.

There are plenty of sites out there that comment on 'Fair Use' and covering what's allowed and not for the purposes of review, parody, reporting, etc. Click here (http://www.nolo.com/lawcenter/ency/article.cfm/ObjectID/C3E49F67-1AA3-4293-9312FE5C119B5806/catID/2EB060FE-5A4B-4D81-883B0E540CC4CB1E) for one that's pretty comprehensive - it does cover the US law but literarily speaking there are few essential differences in the Fair Use clause.
But anything within these guidlines are still open to interpretation and you cannot go wrong with getting permission first.

Thanks! For now, I've taken the page down until official permission can be obtained. Let me know if you want me to put it back up so you can see it again.
