hi all

just finished reading necroII whamphyri ,im hooked and cant wait to get source .
but something troubled me with the fight with yulian bodescu ,first the gunshots and general noise as he was fighting his way to find harry jnr
why didnt ppl living near hear anything? then he crashes out of the window they stake him to the ground then burn him to a crisp yet nobody local sees or hears nothing

second ..all the dead that came to harry jnr to fight yuilian i mean ok fair enough coz thats keoghs talent and seemed to work when he called them up to attack the chateau bronnitsy ,but nobody hears or sees that wich is in a town .....and how did they return to the graves could they bury themselves ? there would be 1 hell of a mess.

third..when harry jnr teleports back to INTESP he has his mother with him ,how did he teleport her back aswell ? i mean he kinda rolled into a mobius door at his side ,how did he manage to pull his mother in aswell ?

any way jus little things that i jus found a bit odd ........still a fantastic story the best out there

It's honestly been awhile since I've read the books so overall my memory is a little fuzzy on the whole issue. But I'll try and if I'm not right, well I warned you. You may try asking Mr. Lumley himself. I don't know esactly how Harry Jr. brought Brenda with him, she'd have had to have been touching him to be pulled through with him. As to the locals, my guess would be a vampiric pall on the area. That Bodescu lulled them into inactivity, or more likely, sleep. I'm in no way sure about them burying themselves, I believe that in Necroscope the Tartars stayed dead wherever they lay, but I don't see why the dead couldn't put themselves back down. Harry's mother went back to her own grave. Or Keogh could have directed them in what to do, they could have helped bury each other so that only a few were left un-earthed and the town would likely have thought it to be some kind of prank. I've honestly never questioned the books, but then at the time I was just too eager to go from one to another and see what happened.

There have been allusions to 'Clean-Up Squads' who take care of the festering flesh - in Bronnitsy they were burning those who had been dead for a while longer... As for people noticing... If you opened your curtains and saw the dead marauding the streets and entering the building down the road what would you do, I imagine them as good Northern folk who'd say, 'Rocky Horror's on at the Civic Theatre again...' ;) Seriously, I doubt any emergency services would respond to 999 calls about the dead walking and if they did they would respond too quickly and then E-Branch via the government agencies would probably have things protocol in place...

That's just the way I see it, and when writing it is easy to get bogged down in the minutae when the pace of the story demands you move quickly as it does at that point in the novel...

thx for the replys and i agree with you as regards to getting boged down and not going over things in fine detail
it jus distracted me for a bit ,kind of a naturel question to ask .......as for clean up squads who take care of the festering flesh ,not sure what you mean there .maybe ppl go in and clean up any evidence left behind?.....not sure

sometimes i get so ingrossed with a story that anything like that im quick to pick up on.
as the story unfolds i have a picture of how things would look in real life pll, buildings etc

as for the mother being able to transport to HQ still stumped .......

Harry Jnr was far better at utilising the Möbius Continuum than Snr ever was - though Jnr rolled into a door why couldn't he move a door over his mother: kind of a Mohammed - moutain kinda way?

i can go along with that thx
like he created the door under his mother who was knocked out on the floor ? and she fell through it and ended up in ENTESP ....ill go along with that

i havent read any of the other books yet but if thats a possiblity id assume that a lot of ppl in danger could be saved that way just teleport to them and drag em into the mobius continueum
but again hope not coz then that be 2 easy

Hey, stuff's supposed to be easy with powers of teleportation!

As for your questions... Pybob gave you the second best answers to those questions you can hope for. The best thing to do, though, is to continue... to read on and draw your own conclusions. You've only skimmed the surface of Necroscope so far. Much more becomes apparent in the next book and beyond. Enjoy the ride!
