Mine is in the Lost Years 2, in the Nostramadness chapter... well actually 2 things. I'll only hint to what I mean so as not to spoil it for thoses that havent got that far....
1. the numerology, what a charming coinsidence (18 & 11 for me:D)
2. Sumadartson, how compleatly enchanting.. it had me thinking on what happened to the rest

There are so many great parts from all 13 books that I cannot pick just 1.
I will mention 1 recurring setting that always grabs me and pulls me in. In the books the Wamphryi are not known for their "record or history keeping" But when the Master starts writting about Wamphryi history or legends like som eof the battles, the rise of Shaitan and the rise of Radu, it just grips me and draws me into the book.
I guess there is the possibility for more stories there. Since not much was kept as records, there would be nothing to dispute the story lines. grin.gif ;)
I know I for one would love to read more. Wamphryi stories and battles before there was a grand Necroscope to vanquish them.

I don't know if I'd call these twists my favorite or not because they're both sad, but they both took me quite by surprise...
Nana's death on the forest-trail and Darcy Clarke's death.
You'd have thought I'd've been ready for anyone to bite it by the time I came to those points late in the series - considering how useful the dead are to our talented hero - but neither one was expected at all...

For me, even though I probably should have been expecting it, it was Harry becoming Wamphyri.

The world being completely converted to vamparism. I'll honestly admit that I was so eager to know the ending when I got my hands on Avengers that I read it first thing. Yet, the way it came about and the fact that not everyone was overrun by it just took my for a loop. I'm sure there were others, but right now that's what comes to mind. I'm sure I'll come up with things as I've gotten my hands on them and am beginning the series again (this time with the intent of reading them in order).

He is turning evil, and your still on his side but you know how bad he's getting. Him shutting off Darcy's talent was a huge pinning moment, tricking him, betraying him yet still feelign somewhat vindicated. Knowing thatvery gesture means he is somewhat willing to kill his old friend rather then be beaten. Even when Darcy dies, insteading of feeling really guilty he instantly seeks out vengeance on the man that pulled the trigger, almost ignoring his own hand in it.
Then after his child concubine dies, he doesn't even seem to mourn her loss for more than it takes him to dive into Karen's lust.
I wish he had of gone the whole way down that spiral...

For me I think it has to be, and probably only because it's from the first, the moment I realised that the see-through blue dude telling the storey was actually Harry

the biggest shock for me was going from necroscope and wamphyri which had they feet pretty much on the ground ,to then hit starside with source ,i mean it took me a while to imagine this whole new world of the wamphyri, and well the rest his history.

For me, it was The Source, finding out that Harry Junior was the Dweller and my favorite part of the Necroscope Saga when Harry Jr. makes the gate in space and directs sunlight through the Mobius Continuum and out of Harry Senior's gate and just scorches all the Wamphyri and their creatures to ash. I would give my right arm to see this on the silver screen!

SPOILER ALERT!!!!
My favorite twists were: Finding out that the Dweller was Harry Jr; Harry Jr's full transformation into a wolf and coming to rescue his father; The conversation Harry has with 'God?' after his death and the shards of himself splintering; Finding out Harry had twin sons to Nana and all the possibilities this could bring for future novels.
But my absolute favorite twist was Harry becoming Wamphyri, as someone else said, I only wish that Harry could have been allowed to become a full Wamphyri and have him turn really evil. Imagine the great saviour becomes the great evil!!! Then the Vampire World novels could have been about Nathan and Nestor's fight against their own father, the greatest Wamphyri of them all. Hmmmmmmm.....sorry, Im back now from my fantasy world.
And thats about it.

Hmmm... This is a tough one, but I'd have to agree with Nathan with Darcy's death. That was a huge shocker. Not the moment itself, but it was also because of how He worded it......
...I was going to quote it, but then realized it would be too difficult to find it. Although I do enjoy the odd musty smell from the flickering pages... Mmmmm.
I noticed something when reading the lost years vol. two. Nostradamus sees in his vision, a man burning in the crucifix position. Little does Harry know, nor would he be able to remember, that vision would be of his own demise.

Hmm, so far....as I have only just finished Bloodwars.... I would agree would have been Nana'a death and the means of it. And Nathan's inability to do anything about it....but in the end her death was instrumental.

My favourite event/twist in the Necroscope series is between:
---------------SPOILER--------------------SPOILER---------
1)Harry getting his second hand body from Alec Kyle and not being the metaphysical freak that he was.
2)Him being killed by Dragosani. I mean, the invasion was going so well, and then he has to speak and get himself ripped in two almost.
... but then theres the rest like him being killed (again) and his chat with "God", his son and everything, just too much...

I think the best twists really make you think, and often confuse you. The ones that did that the most for me were the end of Necroscope I (Dragosani 'killing himself'), the end of Deadspawn (when Harry is the source of all vampires/Shaitan's never-ending life cycle), and the end of Avengers (Vampire Earth!).
They really got the brain ticking over, and jaw-a-droppin'.

As has been said on so many occassions, there are so many to choose from, but... Here's my top three
Darcy's death, and Harry's hand in that.
Trevor Jordan dying. Twice!.
Zek's death. Never in a million years would I have seen that one

My list, which is not complete:
1) That the Russians found a way to truly kill people. It is one thing to physically kill someone, then later have Harry talk to them, but to completely get rid of them!
2) Harry "fixing" Darcy.
3) Harry is the father of the Wamphyri.
4) Karen lives!

Dragosani killing himself and Harry being the source of all vampires was just brilliant.

Several favorites for me:
Harry becoming Wamphri and then dying!
The Dweller being Harry's son and oh so powerful to take Harry's numbers away.
Those golden darts, just where oh where are they all. ;) ;)

For me, whether deliberate or coincidental, for the first four books, I found Lumley's world so Godless - nobody, no matter how innocent, was safe from death! Almost to the point of depressing - Harry Keogh was the closest thing to a God, avenging the innocent! But to discover that there was a God in the last of his books was simply pure genius! Even Harry was made to believe at the very end! While there are many passages that I found myself reading over and over again, one of the most poignant moments was the passage where he is sleeping before his battle with Shaithis and Shaitan where he comes to a startling realisation of a relation between God and the Mobius continuum! But perhaps best to quote directly from the book, what I thought was a beautiful passage that continues to give me goosebumps!
"And inside of him, instinctively aware of looming defeat, his vampire shrank down and was small, and perhaps bemoaned it's fate: to be one with a man who desired only to be...a man.

Sum a dartson....totally enthralling :D
Because Nostradamus' first quatrain says:
"Sitting alone at night in secret study;
it is placed on the brass tripod.
A slight flame comes out of the emptiness and
makes successful that which should not be believed in vain."

Dont read this if you dont want the ending spoilt for you.
I think for me it was in Bloodwars, I think it was, when we learn that Harry's dart went into Nestor, and not Nathan, as we'd all assumed to that point.
Also, in Avengers, the world getting overrun by vampires. I really thought Mr Lumley was forshadowing the event by mentioning El Nino. I thought that Jake would have opened a Mobius door on the heart of that El Nino and deflected it through and into Perchorsk to wipe out Malinari, Vavara and Szwart. But I guess the nuclear bomb did just as good a job.

Easily Harry's "death" in book 5... Lets see, Harry learns how to ressurect himself or anyone else in book 4, then brings the corpse of Shiathis (Shit this?) the first of the Wamphiri back to life after examining his life, then has Shiathis mock crucify him (after of course Harry regains control of the Moebius continuum and has LOTS of extra abilities) poking Harry in the side... Umm... in the Moebius continuum, Moebius hole, Lich, pokie thing...
Then of course Earth fires a Nuke at him, and he steals the bomb with a Moebius gate while at the same time using his Vampiricly intensified ESP abilities (what was the list of mega power ability Harry had in books 4 and 5? All of them? with Telepathy more powerful than anyone else as well as a VERY powerful locator ability?) He used his Mega Telepathy to judge all of the Liches, he then used his Locator ablility to find ALL OF THE LICHES IN VAMPIRE WORLD, and then Fried them with a nuke.
Funny thing about a camera on a missle is it stops working at detonation.
Another neat thing. Green, Red and Blue are the colours of the "darts" from Harry... What does the Golden Dart mean? Could it be the essence of an older more powerful scope from possibly the 1600's? Or maybe even older...
What would happen if someone like Jake Cutter had more than a dozen golden darts hit him?
My ex swears that the night I recited this poem in my sleep (circa: 1994 or 95) she saw a light like dart thing fly into my head... My bro also saw one fly into my head at TimeCycle... Which is reminecent of the end of book 5. Also At a screening of the Bates Psycho movie... And at GhostBusters, and at the wierd version of Shadow of the Vampire... I found SotV funny...The Nosferatu made a lot of jokes... "I ate the crew!" -Vamp "Why'd you do that!!" -Me "I was hungry, and they were bad people..." -Vamp
Others saw the darts... I personally don't fully believe thier descriptions of it... Well except for my ex, and the Time cycle one... and the Bates Psycho one.
"Norman, you leave these people alone... They're not bad people... You listen to you Mother! You stop killing people now you hear!" Bates' mother out of my mouth... I swear... I'm more of a Necropsychologist.
"Twisting, spinning, twirling, forever cycling into light...."
Vortex
Top Secret: the Movie was a funny one... The guy makes me think of Harry or Nathan..
Night of the Living Dead...
the budgets...
Dead Alive was a good one...
Then again I'm probably just crazy.

No Harry isn't Shaitan, but although Shaitan was the first Wamphyri Harry was the actual source as they both were deposited back onto Sunside/Starside swamps all those 3000 odd years before to start the cycle off again.....you could technically say then that Harry is the true Father of all vampires or you could say his body was and that Harry had left it behind, or Faethor was the father or so on and so on...................it's the whole chicken and the egg thing and you could just keep on going.............Lumley rules man, I think I'm going to have to read something by Brian......Hero or Titus??? Desisions desisions!!!
Hey John where's the next question man I dont think I've answered one all year

There were many surprises in the Necroscope books I've read. None of which was more surprising to me than in E-Branch: Avengers, when the fact that Ben Trask, Liz Merrick, Millie McCleary, Ian Goodly, and Jake Cutter had become vampires was revealed! I had forecast that Jake would slowly turn and fight it, but never did I expect the others. Especially Ben Trask, with his utter hatred and loathing of the Wamphyri and their brood....Ben Trask had become that which he hated more than anything on the face of the planet, ( and a parallel one...) Wow, Brian...I mean, WOW!

For me, the biggest twist was in The Touch...the fact that there was NO VAMPIRES at all. That and the fact that the Khiff creatures made everyone forget it all. That was a total "WOW" for me.
