alright guys
i wonder if someone can clear this up for me coz i jus cant seem to get my head around this ,but im sure theres an obvious explanation
im halfway through necro III , and i dont get how the gate works . it seems you can enter from perchosk projekt and end up at starside ,but you cant return once youve entered . so what me dont get
is i how the giant bat, wolf ,leech ,and wamphyri warrior get through from starside , wouldnt any one trapped on starside jus be able to do the same
the only thing i can think of is that when the gate was first created on the projekt side it was very unstable and the surface of the sphere was weak enough to return through.......any ideas ?

I'm not sure I get what the question is but here's the way it works, as I understand it. The gate is two-ended on diffrent worlds. Sunside/Starside runs parrallel to earth and the vampires on earth in fact came to our earth from there. So with the gate (this may be a bit of a spoiler so don't like maim me for it becuase you asked.) you really have two gates. There was an original gate, which is the one the orginal vampires where banished through and ends under the Ural mountians. Then you have the Perchorsk gate, which in Sunside/Starside is located above the old gate. So once you go through a gate, you can go through it again, so long as you're going in the SAME direction you went the first time. So the creatures from starside enter from starside and come to earth, but we go from earth to starside. It doesn't matter which way you enter from or go through it, you just can't use it to go in a diffrent direction.
Does that do anything to answer you question, Skint, or did I confuse you more?

Our earth.... It'll end up on our earth.
It doens't matter which side you enter from it'll carry you over to the other side. You just can't use that same gate to go the OPPOSITE direction of the one you came over in. The gates are forward only, you can't turn around and go backwards.
So if you enter from starside you HAVE to go to earth and can't get back to starside.
If you enter from earth you HAVE to go to starside and can't go back to earth...
Is this making anymore sense yet... I'm trying to get you to get this concept. This would be much, much easier if I could just TALK to you... alas, you don't give that info out so I'll continue trying, well unless you give up. And then there's nothing I can do with you.

The giant bat, wolf ,leech ,and wamphyri warrior are creatures of Starside. They've never been to Earth. Therefore, the shining sphere on Starside leads to Earth for them. But once through, they cannot return to Starside. Unless of course they can squeeze themselves through an undermountain riverway to reach the other gate... their "return gate".
If someone from Earth enters the shining sphere they go to Starside. They cannot return to Earth unless they enter Starside's other gate that leads to Earth's other gate under the mountain. But then they gotta find a way out from under it!
More confused?
Each gate is a one way ticket, no matter which side you enter.
You probably haven't even heard of the second gate yet. Just read on, bud, everything comes clear eventually...
Well, almost everything!

No worries there. I do it all the time. My foster sister hated me when she read these becusae I was always wanting to know where she was at so we could discuss it. And when people I know throw books at me I'm always asking what happened to get clear on what I think is going to happen. It's more fun if you can bother somebody about it! Not to say it's no fun reading it on your own, becuase that works to. Then again, maybe I just have a major book obsesssion....
Glad to have helped though!

BIG SPOILER AHEAD!!
Let's draw a picture.... smile.gif
Perchorsk gate <---> "Upper" StarSide Gate
Urals Mtn gate <---> "Lower" StarSide Gate
Years ago, if you were thrown into the original gate on Starside, you would end up coming out in the Urals (in the area of Romania). Hence our worlds Vampires were over there, and only if they escaped the underground cavern. But once through, they could not go back.
At the Perchorsk Projekt, they accidently created another gate on our world, and the corresponding gate was located above the original one on starside. Now, if they threw you in the gate on Starside, you ended up in Perchorsk.
One could now make a "round trip", so long as they went through each set of gates only one way.
Harry, having gone through both gates to Starside, could not come back unless he figured out how to do it with the Mobius Coninuum.
