I have an advance copy. I know a couple of others also have a copy of the advance, but I thought I would start a thread.

I've got another book to finish first (which I am forcing myself to do), and then onto the touch, which I've already read some of. goosebumps? yes I think so.

Handbags gents,

Ok, read this about a month ago but didn't want to say much. I will say it was worth the wait and I enjoyed it.

Once the book is published, maybe we can talk more about the story etc.
For now, just for the Helm, I'm going to read it again. smile.gif

I hope I'm not asking for to much of a spoiler, but where in the timeframe is this book?

Helmet Head
April 13th, 2006, 09:20 PM
The book is set in the 18yrs between Deadspawn and Blood Brothers, and is about E-Branch's other brushes with dark and sinister beings...

Helmet Head

Here's a link to a previous post that discusses the new book in depth and hopefully gives you a few clues as to what exactly the book is about, however vague some of it is...

Malinari's little 2p worth at the end is priceless though and makes me p*ss my pants every time I read it, I just found it hilarious...

I must admit to being entirely disenchanted with this new book. What made the Necroscope powerful to me was the Vampire. Without it, I seriously doubt my interest will be piqued.

Helmet Head
April 25th, 2006, 11:50 AM
I can see your where your coming from Necro, but I will say that over the years Brian has piqued more than my interest with his other stories.
And even with no Vampires in site they've always managed to entertain me greatly...

Maybe you should try your hand at some of his other books or short stories that are none Necroscope, I think you'd be pleasantly suprised and find the Brian is no one trick pony... ;)

Yeah, I got a wee bit confused myself, until I saw the link Helm provided.

Yeah, kinda funny that "best selling" authors always have plenty of thier books available on the release date. Mabey if Brian's were as readily accessible they would sell as well as S. King's!

P.S. SB its LV for Las Veags, mabey i sould have made my name in caps as a lot of people make that mistake. Thats what i get for using the smae name on all things. Peace!

Lord Scorpio

Amazon works good but you still have to watch. I preordered the new slipcase Necroscope from them months ago, when it should have shipped I called, they said they were haveing trouble getting them. I said if their trying from the publisher there already sold out. I didn't like there answer so went elsewhere. Cost me a little more but this man gets what this man wants. Unless its from my wife, then all bets are off. :(

OOOhhhh yesh grin.gif

Finished it today, fantastic work Brian! And, as the BeeGees put it... "you win again" smile.gif

I can't decide if this would have worked better as an 'E-Branch' book as opposed to a 'Necroscope' one, for reasons that I can't go into without getting spoilery. Anyhow, I have belted through it and those thoughts may change after I've re-read it.

Still gets 9/10 though grin.gif

Edit: Got mine off of Amazon btw, it never ceases to amaze me that Brian's newer work takes an age to find it's way to shops in the UK. When I started out reading his work, every bookshop I used to go in had a reasonable selection. There's still copies of some of the Necroscope books in larger Waterstones, but that's not a lot of use for established readers. Better than nowt I suppose though...

I know what you mean but I actually don't think it's a bad price for a hardback, delivered across the pond. They tell you when you order it if it's in stock or not so you know how long it'll take, they said 2 weeks to me and it was there in 2 weeks.

And as for waiting 2 weeks for it to turn up on time and in perfect condition, it did send me into raptures! I have my copy, don't have to scour the bookshops anymore getting irrate that they don't have it in, worth £17.99 to me

John & Paul

I agree Silver..in a year or two you'll be paying more than that to buy it if you can get it.. look at the price you have to pay for the early necroscopes now.. £17.99 is a bargain, although I bought ours in March (pre-order) and only paid £14.41 each.

I loved it. I'd say more but I'm afraid I might be giving something away.

Will say, THIS CAN'T BE THE LAST ONE!

Brain Lumley, I'll have your guts for garters boy if you don't write some more Necroscope. LOL

Already have mine, but like J & P, am waiting until I've finished re-reading Necro Saga all over again. Am on Bloodwars - just started.

Just finished The Touch, and Brian has definitely not lost his touch. It was excellent. So Brian, what's next on the agenda. (The Dweller volume 1 perhaps?)

Ive got The Touch on my Xmas list. If Santa is not forthcoming then I will have to get my short arms into my deep pockets. Mind you reading through this thread some of you have missed a trick as its only £10 at Amazon.

I'm more than willing to part with my copy of The Touch. I didn't find it to be to my liking.

Mind you, I'm in the US, so it'd take a bit even if I shipped it right away.

I have an advance copy. I know a couple of others also have a copy of the advance, but I thought I would start a thread.

I've got another book to finish first (which I am forcing myself to do), and then onto the touch, which I've already read some of. goosebumps? yes I think so.

Tops

Tops, surely that's not an advance reader's copy of the UK publication? If it is I'm on the phone ... we want some...

Ok so I finished it about a week ago. I LOVED IT! I did kinda miss the whole vampire thing, but this was awesome on it's own! I have read some of his other works, besides the Necroscope series. I'm going to re-read some of the other series and then I"m gonna read it again! I am sure I"m gonna love it just as much the second time around!

As for the popularity of Brian over here in the states...I am trying extremely hard to get other people to read his works. I've loaned a couple books out (no Necroscope ones...they might have to pry them from my cold, dead hands first...lol) and I'm kinda suggesting his books to people who ask me for advice on a new read. At least maybe I'll make him popular among my troupe of people!

Yeah, I try to get people to read Necroscope (originally by loaning them out), but after the third time of replacing the series, they're just gonna have to find somewhere else to get the books.

I like the Solaris web site's quote on the new paperback.

"The Touch is the long-awaited start of a brand new Necroscope series, which is sure to delight his massive fan base"

It sure would!

Silky, I think Tops has the same ARC as me from TOR. Could be wrong though knowing him...:)
