Just thought I'd post a quick hello to all. I've read the Necroscope books 1 through 8 so far. Actually just finished "Bloodwars" about an hour ago. Such as incredible story! I couldn't turn the pages fast enough!
Now I have mixed feelings about the next book. I don't want to leave Nathen and return back in time to Harry.
I havent read any of Brian Lumleys other books, maybe after the last Necroscope book, I'll try them out.

Hello! Welcome to the board. I've not been on here too long myself, but everybody is really nice and don't be afraid to post.

The lost years are very good, even though they are a jump into the past, but it works well in the order it's in. I'm re-reading the lost years right now. I won't give anything away about the last three after that tongue.gif . If you would like to talk just message me anytime.

I've never read any of his other books outside the Necroscope series, so you are not alone there, but I will VERY soon.

Greetings....

There are loads of different ones apart from the Necroscope series, trilogies to novels to collections of short stories.

Titus crow collection is good, Demoragon, Pychosphere etc...

Anyway, enjoy what you manage to get hold of, because finding some of them horrendus. E-bay, does have quite a few though.

I personally thought the lost years was one the best parts of the Necroscope series, It was a top story that incorporated some of the best aspects from the previous 8 books like a trip back in time to the beginning of the Vampire world and the crusades and the roman conquests etc on are world.
But most importantly it's a story with the best the greatest the one the only, top dog, numerouno, undead and undying Necroscope Harry Keogh, now it don't get much better than that. :D

Welcome to the Great Majority .... all I can say is Necroscope is the tip of a very great Iceberg.

Lost Years is classic, I have only recently re-read both again. I would certainly advise you to pick up the Mythos Omnibus editions, well worth a purchase.

Hope you enjoy ...

Hello there,

Glad you could join us

There is no need to be apprehensive about Lost Years, it seems I am in agreement with the great majority when I say I loved it! When I started reading I couldn't put it down. It is certainly among my favourites.

Welcome Grighor. Glad you could join us...

But don't listen to these guys!

The Lost Years books are full of sex, blood, violence, creepy creatures with strange powers, and a guy that talks to dead people.

...unless that kind of thing interests you.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I hope to stop in here from time to time and get to know everyone a little bit.

I know it'll all come out in the books I've yet to read, but I'm curious how if Harry killed off the last Earth vampire, Janos, and Nathen turned starside into the sun to kill that planets vampires and dry up the swamps, where are the vampies in the next books gonna come from? Or are they all set in earlier times? oh well, I'll just have to read on, then!

Welcome!

And yes - you won't find us giving (too much) away here... And I'll only say that Brian's books are like the Möbius Strip - there's always a twist somewhere... ;)

I think we should tell him anyway, I mean it's no great secret or mad twist plus it tells you on the back of the book anyway exactly what's happened and why there's WAMPHYRI on the prowl once more.
Plus if Grigor really wanted to know I'm sure there are some old threads knocking about somewhere in one or another forum that would tell him anyway and may also spoil more of the book than he wanted.
But I'll abide by everybody else and keep stum.

Grigor I'd read The Lost Years first anyway otherwise you won't appreciate some of the stuff in the E-Branch novels, I can't say anymore than that or I really would be spoiling some of the story for you, all I will say is that someone ????? has got some unfinished business. ;)

Bugger I've started thinking back on the books now and I feel I need to read them all again ARRRGGGHHHHH must resist must resist grin.gif

quick question. I just read this page http://www.brianlumley.com/necroscope/ebranch1.html and I wonder...where's Nathen? is he mentioned?

Nathan

That third link I gave you contains this post...

Yes, you see Nathan again...but very briefly, through the eyes of Blaze. He has destroyed what vampires were left, in one fell swoop, as they are bloodwarring. In the aftermath, he takes a knock on the head and basically has amnesia. Empty head syndrom.smile.gif

oh, ok. I see that now. thanks Nathen. So the ice encasing the Wamphyri melted and released their captives, eh? well, you certainly have to marvel at how well BL ties all that together. I had totally forgotten about the frozen Lords and Ladies.
It seems I'm pretty lucky to have several more books ahead of me to enjoy. I came across this series by accident. I live in a small town in Ky, USA and we dont even have a book store here, and our tiny library doesn't have ANY BL books. I donate dozens of books there every year, but I can't bring myself to give them the 8 BL books I have.
But I did find Necroscope 5 at a used book store in the next town about a year ago. And I loved it, so I kept an eye out for more. Never found any. So about 6 months ago, my wife surprised me and ordered book 1 for me. So I ordered 2,3,4,6,7 and 8. Now I'm waiting on 9 to get here.
It's funny because, while I'm waiting, I tried to start 3 or 4 other books by different authors, and they just all seem to suck. Can't read anything else until I finish all the Necroscopes, I guess.

I just had a thought about Nathen. Do you suppose the BL gave Nathen amnesia because it appears that he has grown so powerfull that the Wamphyri aren't really a match for him anymore?
probably wouldn't be much of a plot if one side could dominate the other that much. just a wild guess.
And let me see if I have this right. "Silky" post here alot, is this really Mrs. Lumley?

I choose not to go along with that reasoning... I prefer to think that Brian's leaving it open for Nathan to recover and kick some more Wamphyri butt!

But that is a good theory, however unacceptable!

just ordered 3 more on ebay! just need "lost years" and "resurgence" to have them all!!
will the story still work by skipping over those two? temporarily, til I find them.

Not sure it might still work but if you read the lost years first then the second E-Branch book Defilers would be so much better because you'd no the whole story then.
Can't say why or to much about it but reading the Lost years first is well worth it.
