Hey, just saying hey to people because I'm new here. Signed up after reading some posts and such.
8 year Lumley fan. Necroscope specifically. Wonderful stuff, and since he's by far the greatest writer on the planet, I thought I'd get to know some other people who thought the same. Here in the states it's hard to find people who can take in Lumley's writing. It's too deep. I've tried hooking about 5 people, but only one took. And he reads so slow.
Anyway, I've never actually met anyone else who's ever read all the books, but I'm sure most of you have. It should be great to be able to discuss things and not have ignorant faces stare back. Well, just introducing myself...

Welcome Frost D. Glad you came along ;)
I'm pretty sure we'll see you about on the board - for all things necroscope jump on over to the necroscope forum.
As for slow readers, I'm one of those, and I find that I catch stuff when reading that others miss - I like to take my time where a good book is concerned!

Hey FrostD, welcome, this board rules!
And hey The Helm,
It's seems to me like Lumley's works are starting become more recognized in the States. A few weeks ago I actually met someone who has read some. Rare thing.
Again welcome FrostD!

Glad your on board FrostD. Another of many who know that Brian is the greatest writer on the planet. Why not try the Necroscope Knowledge 2004 page. It's great for remembering things you might have forgot about.

Got a quick question.
How do you guys handle potential Spoilers? Should I just not say anything? I mean, some things that I would classify as a spoiler I'd like to talk about, but I can understand if it's not cool. BUt I have noticed some spoilers being let out; Harry becoming a Vampire, dying, yada yada. But seriously. How do you guys treat it?

FrostD, it can be difficult and sometimes certain things are mentioned in error... its pretty much when your discussing books/stories in the Necroscope/Cthulhu/Other Stories you can mention anything relevant to the threads ... but within the other areas try not to drop in anything that someone might not expect (this includes work by other authors).... a SPOILERS WARNING is not a bad idea if in doubt....
Common sense really..but if anyone can think of anything else....

Back before Avengers came out, we had a forum called The Source where all spoilers were kept for the most part. Now it's assumed that most fans who make it to the board should be finished up by now.
So as Lupa said, mark a spoiler if you think it's needed, but there is a warning on the main page and several of the individual forum pages.
As for State-siders and the seeming lack of 'em who're into Brian... that's kinda weird, 'cause didn't Necroscope really get kickin' when Tor picked it up here in the states? I think there are more than you think, just not as many who want to visit a message board, that's for sure!! The problem with trying to get someone into such a long series is... just that! It's loooooooooong. There are several series not even close to the length of Necroscope that friends of mine have been trying to get me into for years! It's just daunting...and in some cases boring!
Try having 'em start with The Source. It's not as slow starting and you don't really need the backstory up front...
Welcome to you and to all the other new faces I've yet to greet!

Start with the Source? Blashphemy. A person on this train will never pass the station of Yulian Bodescu (sp). And that is a nessesary stop.

Believe me, if they read The Source and go on through Deadspawn, they'll go back and read from the beginning eventually! I definately didn't intend to imply that they miss all that!

Nice to meet you, even though I'm new to. I live in the states as well and find that most people havevn't even heard of Lumley let alone his works.

Welcome Jade. It's same way in my part of the States. I've only ever met one other person who has ever heard of Necroscope.

I'm the only Auzzie I know of with a computer thats a necrofan... but I know 3 and I have to find another set if I'm ever gonna 'loan' them... I cant risk it, i've got ppl interested just because I am STILL carrying on about them after 6 years, and they know I know my books. I only survived because my mates who introduced me to the series were up to The Source and Deadspawn and urged me to keep going (the 3 of us lived in the same house) and their discussions about it were so intreging I had to catch up to join in...... Are there any Other Auzzies in here??
