Now that I've outsmarted this stupid thing and figured out how to do this I can introduce myself. I'm Jade, it's not my real name, but I've been using it for five years so as far the internet is concerned it might as well be.
I discovered the wonder of the Necroscope books five years ago when a friend threw the first one at me to satisfy my need for further reading about vampires because he sparked an interest that has now become an obsession. It actually surprised him when he found out I’d started buying them on my own to continue the series since he didn’t own the whole thing.
I’ve only read them once and that was about four years ago. They took me maybe six months to read and then I had to wait around for Avengers to come out. I haven’t re-read them since four years ago because when I do I want to actually read them in order this time. All I can say about my last go round was that I read the first book first and the last book last, but other than that I jumped around A LOT! I sadly am missing books one, five, and thirteen in my collection as I’ve never owned Avengers and a friend rather stole the other two.
As to other Lumley books I’ve read. I devoured House of Doors, but didn’t like Maze of Worlds all that well. I tried to read the Psychomok (spelling?, I’m too lazy to go look) books when I killed of the Necroscope books but couldn’t get into them. I’m going to try looking at them again possibly soon now that I’m more mature. As to the other readings I’ve tried finding things at the public library circuit and failed miserably. My mother refuses to take me into the bookstore as the last time she told me two books and I came out with half my Necroscope series (though this is also from the self same woman who when I told her I wanted Deadspeak for Christmas bought it for me in hardcover despite the fact that the rest of my collection is in paperback.) I’ll maybe get there eventually.
What people I’ve found who are into the books I’ve realized are generally older than me. I, however, have no shame in admitting that, as of this post, I’m only a senior in high school. And since I don’t know many people who are interested I’ve taken it upon myself to convert people one friend at a time. So far I’ve got one very friend very eager to the books but she refuses to start anywhere but the beginning.
I think I’ve covered a nice introduction to myself and the schematics of my obsession with Lumley’s work.
