John
your right about that number jumping up there, to bad most don't join in on any of the threads and then the few that do only post once or twice then disappear. :(

Tops
you need to improve your sales pitch to keep more people around and to stay out of trouble.

welcome to anyone i missed

well in your response to not joining in any of the threads i cant claim to be an expert on brians work .....and also being new i wouldnt want to presume i could jus barge my way in ha haaaaa......anyways jus my personal view not sure about other newbies ........think ill stick around for a while no needs for any sales pitch tops ........but i cant promise to stay out of trouble ha haaaaa .........joke ,a good boy here .....sometimes

January 13th, 2005, 12:40 AM
hell, there's only a few people on here who can claim to be an expert on the man.... but that's the fun - if you've read necroscope, then why join in the necroscope knowledge thread - that's always hard, and I get them wrong!

Sd(I've come to the conclusion that the overall name is too long to type, therefore assuming it won't incur your wrath I'm shortening it, if it bothers you however I'll in the future use the whole thing.) I resent the fact that you're claiming newbies don't do much. I'm new and I've been in and out commenting on things when and where I can, in fact depending on the amount of time I have at hand I check it two or more times a day. Though, I have come to the conclusion that I've made more posts them some people who have been here longer than me. And if it'll ease your concious I've no intention of disappearing, yet, in August, who knows?
As to the NecroKnowledge, I keep tabs on it but I generally don't know the answers. You're all pretty funny about it. Skinters, I recomment just reading what they have to say in the threads, sometimes they all get funny.
And as to the sales pitch, Tops, you're doing okay. You don't need to aim at me I promise. I'm currently talking and anyone who I see who's given out their AIM/ICQ. I add to my list under a special group header for Lumley fans and then wait for a convienant time to speak to them. So far I've had successful pleasant greetings with 6/7 of the AIM people (Tops being the one I've not seen on).

well I agree a bit with Skinters... I didnt want to just barge on in and scare everyone  lol. personally I am reading 1 - 8 for the 7th time.. after finishing the lost years I had to go round again.... I love em!! (they r contacted and "my precious'" lol) Mr King was always my fave and eternally will be one of the best. I have the pleasure of being able to read a few books at once with out confusing them in my head. I'm at the end of Pandora at the moment (love Ms Rice too) ... as well as writing my own. I love the written word! But I'll take from this post.... and run rampant!!! BOMBARDMENT!!! lol

Fantasy is ETERNAL!!!

Thank you all for the welcome.
And as Jade Rose has said, some newbies post more than others. Not to say veteran members dont post as much.
It's just with me I enjoy reading all the great posts and therefore learn more than I have to say.
If Im looking for answers I promise to jump in and ask that burning question. So far you all have provided the answers to Brian Lumley books That I've been wondering about.
So much to read in this great forum, yes I will be hanging out for sure.
Nice to meet you all. smile.gif

well i heard my ears burning .....and jus had to say a little ..i think where myself is concerned i woudlnt want to post just for the sake of looking like im a stayer ..all i know is that for the time being im enjoying this site and the banter that goes between the regs ,ive been through the old posts and its intresting to see how this site all started ,and with the introduction by shadoe of a paying to post system which he rightly introduced to combat the idiots who were hacking the site....

id also like to say that with every forum its awkward for newbies to get they foot under the door so to speak , with SD saying hes sad most dont join most of the threads as an example ,and i know he only says that coz hes seen so many come and go ........jade you say you recommend jus reading what peeps have to say in the threads .......well as far as necro knowledge goes if i know the answer its in there ha haaaaaaaa ...jus not easy sometimes as most of the players have read most on brians work ...anyways peace

p.s sorry there disconnected ive kinda jumped into your thread which was originally your introduction
now how do i pay my dues theres no way i aint having my say in the elite lumlians aerie ha haaaaa

Koudo's to you Skinters.
I agree just posting to appear to be a stayer is not what forums are about, at least speaking for myself.
And the Idiot hackers- are for some reason targeting discussion forums. I'm sure all the good people here are aware of this problem or should be.
Hats off to you again Skinters. grin.gif

Everyone,i like to say that i'm very happy to see that you guys read what i say smile.gif

in the 6 years or so that this site has been around it has grown more then 20%/200 newbies in just the last 8 months. smile.gif
out of that 200 only a few,a very few have stuck around, including you guys.
i agree,it is awkward at first, but i was really only talking numbers and the numbers speak for them self,so yes, sometimes i'm a little disappoited that more people don't stay and post. :(

i'm glad to see you guys hanging around smile.gif

Jade, feel free to shorten my name.

Skinters, lets finish the necro series so you can ask or answer more then 1 out of 50 questions and give some of Brian other work a try

no worries .hey you can tell who the nice ppl are in any forum by the things they say ,and the way they say em

Jade Rose

YAY! Not only do you give me permission to shorten your name SD, but someone else starts doing it to. So much fun. Yes, Skints, There are plenty of nice people floating around the site here, I've personally talked to about six of them on AIM, and actually downloaded ICQ so I could talk to a couple more who only gave out ICQ contanct info. Now I'm just waiting on validation.... But that's a bit beside the point. So since SD you're looking around in here, how would I get ahold of one of the moderator like people, preferably whichever one will be most receptive to me asking about a million questions. I've added Nate to my ICQ but it's not working and Tops is techincally on there too but he's just never on (though if he's one of the guys in engald, that could be why I never see him on). Anyways, any help you're able to give would be wonderful.
Don't worry however... the only way you'd be able to get rid of me is to ban me. I enjoy it here, it's interesting. I ever come across someone I can barage with questions I might even upgrade to an elite account!
Sorry to disconnected that we're turning your welcoming party into a discussion area. I hope you don't mind, too much.

Welcome Disconnected.

As you can see, although we are all into Brians work, we can sometimes disagree. These are normally in jest and resolved very quickly.

In all, the majority of contributors to this site are "good people" and a few are now good friends in the "Real" world and not just on the board.

Enjoy the site and if you feel like putting in your dime's worth then do so. If you just want to read the topics, do so. That's what the discussion board is all about.

All I can stay to y'all is stick around, especially once you've joined the elite crew... it's worth it, and you can make some great friends.

And you have any questions about posting, well, that's what us moderators are for... our email addresses are on the contact page if you wanna talk smile.gif

Thank you all for making me feel welcome and a part of this great place.
AS Skinters said (You can tell the nice people by what they say and the way they say it).
And Jade Rose I dont mind at all that my welcome has become a discussion forum.
Just makes me feel that much better on things. smile.gif grin.gif
