I've been patiently waiting to hear that my registration had been approved, but today, I just couldn't wait any longer, so I tried the site, and there I was: one of the newest members! I have been reading Lumley short stories all week, and just finished Beneath the Moors. He's definitely my favorite horror author. I've never really had a fav horror author before, usually sticking to sci fi, fantasy and suspense, although I love a good vampire yarn and have read almost all the Anne Rice books. Stephen King's never been high on my list, although I did enjoy The Stand. Clive Barker is pretty enjoyable, but Lumley is so versatile, so dark and so eldritch! I may upgrade my membership to Premo, or whatever, after I've scoped out your boards. Thanks for accepting me into your writhing, squamous fellowship.

Welcome Aboard... Glad to have you. If it makes you feel any better King and I didn't get along very well either. And Rice, yes I've read her as well. My preference however lies with Lumley. I did read him first and well, he's just better. Granted it didn't keep me from holding a running commentary of all the things they did wrong with Queen when they made it into a movie, but yes. Lumley all the way. And Fantasy. Yes I definately do that. It's about all I've got out now since Grandma made me box stuff up. Hey, books are great. As for going for elite, hey the boards here are great. The people are friendly and it's fun. The only reason I'm not there yet is waiting for word on wether I'll be able to access it all next year when I go away!
But to give you some fun places to go: The Necroknoweldge is great, though you might have gone diversified enough to want Lumlian Knowledge(I'm as yet strictly a necro girl, becuase that's all the more I've read). If you read the music/book posts(Which by the way as free holders we can access but not post to) it's sometimes interesting to look at what everyone gets into. There are various forums about the movie idea which can get interesting to look into... but yeah. Always something going on (Well almost) and I at least check back every day at least once to see what's new. It's fun here. And we all have at least one thing in common- a love of Lumley's writing. And I do recommend that if you fidn a conversation to hop into, read all the post pages before it. It's great for knowing what's going on, if somewhat time consuming.
Well, happy reading/posting. And again glad to have you with us. Honestly... and if this was to long or boring, or slightly off topic(though I don't think it is) well. I was just trying to be helpful.

Ahhh, you're welcome,Grim. Glad to have been of service, we are all one community here we might as well get along. And really, the people here are cool and I haven't met anyone yet who wasn't nice to me. Even when I im them. Really, you're fine here. But really... it's no big deal helping people. The nature of the beast and all that nonsense.
Have fun running around, and hope we'll see more of you. ^_^

Hi Grimalkin and welcome aboard..I have only been nipping in a few times recently so never saw your post until today. I don't think you can find better horror than Brian Lumley although I too have a few King and Barker's on my shelves. My favourite fantasy artist Jack Chalker is very poorly I've just heard today and very likely not to pull through... I'm gutted... it just goes to show how certain writers can influence your life and become like part of your family... The good ones like Brian and Jack (in my opinion) especially..
Anyway, welcome to the family !!!

John Paul, I am sorry I didn't reply sooner. I am so sorry that Jack Chalker passed, but hopefully he's in a better place. He must have been quite elderly, because I remember him from the 60s, I'm sure. He did many wonderful paperback covers from those days. Thanks for the welcome.

I appreciate your warm welcom, Exsanguinator, and thanks for viewing my art. I would love to contribute to this website. Do you only accept art inspired by Brian's works, or is general horror/sci fi acceptible?
