DAM STRAIGHT I AM!!!!

Looks like the realisation of a dream may well be on its way here folks, and I just have to pinch myself at the thought of them Hollywood type dudes making my favourite book in the whole wide world into a movie.

I don't normally hold with Hollywood adaptations of books as I tend to become extremely picky and sounding very much like a snooty art critic I pick at the fabric slowly unravelling the illusion until there’s nothing left.

But not this time, oh no the fact that someone is even trying to recreate the world of the Necroscope Harry Keogh is enough for me.
I truly believe that the book is far to complex to be portrayed on the big screen with enough depth that it would keep the book nerd critic in me satisfied so I'm just going to enjoy the ride.

Why worry about what there missing out when I can get excited about what there putting in, I truly can not wait to see if anything happens with this.
Obviously not all projects people pick up get made so I'm not expecting it to be made, I’m just hoping instead.

And if it does….well I hope a few people sit up and take notice of a particular author who’s huge talents have not been as widely appreciated as they dam well should of been.
So it’s not just for a selfish reason I want this film made it’s for Brian who may end up finally getting the kind of recognition he so richly deserves.

So fellow Lumlian’s, are you excited too????????

P.S. Brian when is my offer of a major part going to arrive, I’ve waited patiently by the letter box but the postman hasn’t delivered anything yet. ;)
I see myself as Alec Kyle; you know I can slowly ease myself into the acting process before really getting into it in the third Movie as the Re-born again Harry Keogh grin.gif

Well said Pete.

I'm very excited about the possibility of a Necroscope movie.

We all know the saying "It wasn't as good as the book" but i like your attitude.

Even if it is a little disappointing
the non-Lumlian fan will have nothing to compare it to so they'll enjoy the reading that much more.

As for a part it the movie, it only has to be minor one.I'm won't be greety. ;)

Everyone has their own perception of how each character should look and act after reading the books, it may be that Hollywood has the bucks but do they have the right actors/production crew to carry out such a task worthy of Brian Lumley's Necroscope. If they did, how far would they go.
To me The Necroscope series will never be bettered by any author on the planet, it is the pinnacle of ''fiction''.

Well of coarse.................I'm excited as hell about the whole idea of a movie. Like you guys have said, just the fact that it could be, it's amazing. I'm overly pumped up. As long as it comes anywhere near the book I'll be pleased.

Its well worth looking forward to .... as already said its rare that a film is as good as the book, but when done well it'll be great to see it up on the big screen.

Lord of the Rings is a good example ...almost unfilmable some might say, but what a great job Peter Jackson did, the technology available to film makers these days is tremendous. So long as the guys involved take the book and involve Brian then I can only see good things.

It'll also introduce others to the books as well, and if it means more people have the joy of reading Necroscope then thats no bad thing at all.... Exciting times, and I can think of no author more worthy of having his work realised in film.

Alec Kyle in a pink shirt!!!!! Perish the thought Mr H.....

I'm only a Junior in Highschool. When I first picked up Necroscope in 7th grade, I wrote Brian an e-mail a few days later after I finished asking him if he ever planned to make a movie of it. Appearantly, he'd heard the question plenty of times before. His response could have been a recording. But anyway, when I first read the book, it all played out in my head like a movie. I can totally see this working. My biggest fear is they try to turn it into an action movie. Second biggest fear is bad casting. But besides that, I am eager to see what happens!

this book, or all of the necroscope books are the best shit i've ever read and i hoped they'd make them into a movie, and when i found out they were going to do it i was so excited i called kup people who didnt' give a crap about the movie just to tell them about it..i usually don't overreact about things like this but when it comes to these novels i feel like a starwars or startrek fan,

to be honest my heart says ,yeah make a necroscope film ,but my head is saying i just hope it dont turn out like so many book to films that have gone wrong in the past and cant really see any director script music score that will do the fantastic story brian has created any justice at all....i fear the worse

ill put this reply to all the of the necro film threads ,sorry i sound so negative ,jus my thoughts and i feel that its taking away the sincerity from brians work i dont know why i feel this way jus do .

I am excited for this movie, but as history may show, the movie is never as good as the book...

I love the books, and I can picture it all in my head, but I can see how it would be difficult to make the scene and creatures look realistic and cool. No dowubt, I will buy this movie no matter what. I can now force my sister to watch it so she can know what I am always babbling on about. lol.

I cant wait for this! The anticipation is horrible. Why does it have to take so long?

oh well...

Hah! I sent my first (and only) email about the NEED for a script/treatment some 6 years ago or more. I don't even remember where I sent the email, but I know all I had at the time was "WebTV". Never got a response back, but I didn't care.

Damn-straight I'm excited.

I've been frothing at the mouth for almost two decades to see this amazingly original story on the big screen (or even the little one). My friends are so tired of hearing it that I can't even discuss it with them anymore.

Will I be disappointed with the result? Don;t know. Like Helm said, I would go into it expecting some serious compromises to make it fit the media, but I still hold my mental image in too high of a regard to dismiss it entirely. I would try hard to take it at face value, like the Harry Potter films, which I manage to appreciate despite having started reading the books WELL before the movies were even a thought in some producer's mind. I guess there's hope.

I no longer have any doubt that they could make a viable Warrier in CGI. I always saw that as the single biggest visual hurdle.

I agree with CGGorman, although the Harry Potter films weren't faithful to the books, I liked them and I would be interested to see what they will come up with if & when they make a Necroscope movie - even though it will be very hard to make it as good as the books!!.

No I am excitied about the movie, for the simple reason I am selfish, and don't want to share Harry with anyone else than the people who have read the books. But they are doing it, I hope & pray that they do not stray from the book at all, not one word.

I'd be foolish not to look forward to this movie, although I'm certainly not going to get my hopes up. I don't take disappointment too well

At first I was not excited about them making the movie. I have seen too many good books get trashed when they make it into a movie. But some of the more recent book movies have turned out pretty good, so now I am kind of excited, though I don't expect it to be as good as the book. It could still be cool to see the characters on the big screen.
