I will preface this by stating that I haven't read any Brian Lumley...YET! I have just recently learned of the Necroscope series. I have the first and would like to get at least 2 more before I begin. I am a voracious reader and after what I've learned I feel that I need to have the first three on-hand.
Now onto the subject.
What kind of music do you listen to while reading? I've recently run across a couple of CD's that may pique your curiosity. There are a some samples that can be downloaded or I can e-mail them since I already have them(requires Realplayer).

Any kind of gothic music...like Bauhausm Switchblade Symphony and Type-0 (especially for the Necroscope series) would be great...I also suggest classical music by Chopin....
Movie sound tracks that would be good as well would be Sleepy Hollow and Deep Rising.

I also like the "Bram Stoker's" Dracula movie score. Surprisingly, the audio tracks from the Aliens 3 Playstation game are conducive to late-night reading.

Latley I've tended to have the TV on whilst reading, mostly due to the fact that my five year old son is watching it.
There are songs or albums though that always remind of a specific book.
eg; Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense album always reminds me of Stephen Kings IT, especially Phsyco killer.
The Doors - Riders on the Storm always reminds me of Jackie Collins' Hollywood Wives, very appropriate to the story, "There's a killer on the road, his brain is squirmin like a toad" - great stuff!
I remember listening to some Husker Du when reading the first few Necroscope books "Candy Apple Grey" I think it was, also The Pixies and New Model Army. Rousing stuff when the Whamphyri kick in.

I can't read with either music or the tv. I can't concentrate. I ussually, when I'am not at work http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif, turn my fan on high to block out all disruptive noise so I can focus completely on the book.
