Scary Movies...?

It's that time of year! I need about six scary movies to rent for the next coupla days...any suggestions on good ones, recent or classic?

A given for me (and really kind of an annual tradition) is The Changeling with George C. Scott. Very Creepy. That one's definately on my list.

A recent one I would recommend to any who haven't seen it is What Lies Beneath with Michelle Phiffer (sp?).

Dead of Night (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0037635) you'll probably be lucky to find this one. It's a 1945 b&w british horror film comprised of several tales you won't soon forget and is one of my all time faves.

N8! "The Changeling", one of my favs this time o' year. A truly brilliant ghost story. Whenever I'm in the bath, I like to knock on the sides to "freak" my girlfriend ;)

I'll be watching... "The Hunger", "The Company of Wolves", "The Thing" and "Evil Dead 2". That should tide me till the witching-hour, when my work really begins...

Don't forget to include a couple of good old Brit hammy Hammer films. Not very scary, but always good fun to watch - Twins of Evil and Dr Jekyll and Sister Hyde.

Also to raise the level of campness, Vincent Price in the Dr Phibes films or any of his Poe adaptations, The Fall of the House of Usher or The Raven.

4. day of the dead (remake coloured version)
5. pumpkinhead

despite 1. crossing the scifi / horror genre, its still scares me.. very atmospheric and dark...

Day of the Dead is an awesome zombie flick! Good choice, VonD. BUB rules! :D More gruesome than scary though...

Looks like I'll try to find Wicker Man as it was recommended twice. And I have yet to see Evil Dead II or Army of Darkness, but I've heard good things about them (Evil Dead, the original didn't do much for me).

Poltergeist and Psycho I've seen enough already, but I might check out the remake of Psycho...anyone seen it? Should I save my money?

I'll pick up The Fall of the House of Usher if I can find it...I liked The Pit and the Pendulum, so...

Anyone else?

Ahhh! "From Beyond"... a nice bit of HPL inspired shenanigans. If you enjoyed it, may I suggest "In The Mouth Of Madness"? Not strictly HPL but, then again, not strictly not HPL..., erm, if you catch my drift. Please excuse the litigious-dodging double negatives.

"Dawn of the Dead" anyone? My personal fave with regards to Mr G. A. Romero. Stuck in a mall, with nothing but the "living dead" surrounding you.

I was gonna say Paper House! I was, honest, but couldn't find any information on its availability or if it'd been retitled for the American market.

In a similar vein to Company of Wolves, (both are penned by Angela Carter) I'm looking out these days for The Magic Toyshop.

Also, it's cack your pants time in Les Diaboliques Black, white, french, 50s classic. I remember this film in colour, but then I remember the colour 10 Rillington Place in black & white. I'm just funny that way.

Hmm Les Diaboliques, may have seen that, or am I thinking of a remake of another with Sharon Stone? Anyhoo, I agree with Gordon on Flatliners, what made that scary to me was thinking how many Med students have actually tried doing that, to see how far they can go? Hmm.. getting me to want to rent that one again..lol

Still though... Karen Black and that voodoo doll in Trilogy of Terror... *shudders*
