I saw it this weekend and I loved the first one, but with the second one I was NOT impressed... there was hardly a plot... and once again they were after his blood and they even brought a dead character back from the first one... well, it was alright in my final analysis. But just as a rentable... not movie theatre worth...

Well, I fell asleep through the first one, so unless I start suffering from insomnia, I'll give the second one a miss!

I hate to disagree - but - AWESOME MOVIE!

Just got done watching it - and I have to say, it is as good if not better than the first one. Some of the things might be a bit far-fetched but the death of a vampire has never been done better than on these two films. The effects were unreal... :D

Remember - we are dealing with a comic-book character - just a dark and sinister one. I was wondering how they would deal with Whistler's death, and it wasn't too bad as comics go.

Definite must buy list to go nicely beside the first one. Watch them both together and you'll appreciate the second one more. smile.gif Ahhh.. and the soundtrack is tops as well...

You... hate to disagree? Since when... ;)

From what I can remember of the first one (before I dozed off!) the effects were good. Maybe I'd enjoy it more if I watched it again, but I most definitely would NOT buy it! I think there needs to be a new take on vampire films, as most in recent years have been fairly weak.

The first Blade was without a doubt better. Me and Mazrah saw Blade II, at the pictures a while ago, but from what I can remember, we didn't think much of the special affects, when the ninja vamps were fighting (at least I think they were ninja-ish). Other than that the movie was okay....6/10 smile.gif

Ahhh - the nija vamps - yup, I know what you mean. There was one or two shots where Wesley and the chick looked like little robots the way they filmed it. The death of the vampires was cool as hell though - you have to admit. smile.gif

And ok - so I LOVE to disagree. you got me. :D Blade at least portrays vamps as mean nasty baddies instead of the homoerotic crap Rice does in the Queen of the Damned. Thos vamps are the pussiest things I have ever seen. "Oh... Marius..." "Ohh.. Lestat..." "Kiss me you beautiful wonderful loving vampire you..." Bah.... make me puke....

Not been a decent vamp flick in years - not since George Hamilton's appearance in Once Bitten...

Yeah I have to agree with you Shadoe, Blade is probably the closest you get to tough, mean Vamps except of course, Dusk till Dawn.
John Carpenters main Vampire was okay, but as for the film 0/10

And please do me a favour George Hamilton, the flying, drunk chicken, I think not !!!

I defer Goth's superior knowledge of the orange-skinned one... tongue.gif

As for JC's efforts - had so much promise - I remember complaining furiously because of the wait to have it released over hear... Then we all found out why - the distributors were trying to save us! lol

Only just recently seen it, so personally didn't think it was as good as the first. Maybe one of those films that you have to watch more than once before you start to appreciate.

Thought J.C. Vampires was okay, prefer Lost Boyz, also enjoyed from Dusk till Dawn, but not seen 2 or 3. Also have Interview with a Vampire, more of a slower moving film than the others above.

One vamp flick I've gone from hating to loving back and forth for years is Near Dark, if it isn't one you've seen then it's definitely worth a viewing - I didn't like it the last time so it must be due for being good!

just to add my view ... I missed at the cinema and bought the DVD on my mates say-so. The story ain't as good as the first but the effects and break neck pace made it a very good film in my humble opinion.

Stonking good deaths and Luke Goss was a surprisingly effective villain. Daft but very watchable.

I'm with Shadoe

I actually thought it was as good as the first, not better but certainly as good. The effects were great and it was a typically comic book style of movie, just as it's supposed to be.

I borrowed it from a mate and I would watch it again, as I have the first one I might even be tempted to buy it.
