Lies of the Wamphyri!!! A szgany escapes!

This ones an old one, but might be worth rolling out one more time, seeing as there are quite a few new faces around...


Three Wamphyri were provisioning sunside for a coming bloodwar.

They had managed to catch 10 szgany each, for a total of thirty.

On inspection 5 were found to be unfit. Three were spies from an enemy lord (and of course were divided between them and sent straight to the vats) and two were infected with leprosy.

As an insult to the local opposition it was decided that the two infected sgzany would be sent to the enemy as a 'present'....

So, each Wamphyri had 9 useful sgany for provisions ( The original 10 that they caught minus the one spy each that were sent to the vats). 9 x 3 = 27. plus the two that were sent to the opposition as a 'present' = 29!

How did one of the szgany escape??

Hint: Remember that Wamphyri are fond of lying and word games!

Gonna go out on a limb here and risk looking a bit dim if this is wrong.....

There is no missing szgany. There were originally 30, got 5 unfit(total szgany 25), gave the enemy 2 (total 27), then split the remaining 3 between everyone.
The problem is that instead of counting it like this...
30-25=5
5-2=3

Most do it like this..
30-3+2=29.
Easy.......I think.....
