And I aint talking about Bob Houlness...

Well I saw Spiderman 2 the other week and even though I am slightly biased as Spidey was my all time childhood fave superhero, I thought that it was terrific and a dead cert for movie blockbuster of the year.

But I've been hit completely from out of the blue by I,Robot which I saw last night with the G/F, it was in my opinion Smart, Funny, Emotional and one hell of an action flick.

Most definately in my personal opinion the best movie of the year so far, and one of the most impresive films I've seen since the orginal Matrix film.

Been way too busy to see any of the mainstream films recently, so haven't seen Spidey2 or I, Robot yet, but both are on the agenda when (if!) I get time to make an agenda! It really doesn't helpl that there's the Tartan Asia Extreme film festival at the moment, so lots of funky Japanese horror to watch!

I've been catching up on comedy at the moment watching Shrek2, Shaun of the Dead (which is fantastic) and Sex lives of the Potato men.

I do intend to watch Spidey 2 though as he was also one of my favourite heros as a child

Spidey.... fantastic... I've heard mixed reviews of I, Robot. I want to see it, but heard really bad things from friends.

Anyone seen King Arthur yet??

Arthur - two hours of my life I want back... Though the idea of him being a centurian type is as legitimate as anybody's guesses the throw-away lines gave up just how bad the history was.... That isn't bad in itself but when they say it is the definitive take on the history... grrrr

And purely as a film - absolute bobbins!

Oh - Ray Winstone was good in it though!

Spidey 2 rocked! Saw it awhile back. Still waiting to see AVP.

But I know I'll be jaded when it comes to that movie. It could be a real waste of film but I'm sure I'll still love it just to see either one of those creatures back up on the big screen

I'm with you Canker smile.gif Want AVP - heard it's awful, but want to see it nonetheless... although isn't it based in a city in antartica??? sound a bit like "At the Mountains of Madness" by HPL anyone? hmmm.... mad penguin things.

Enjoyed I, Robot rather a lot, in a kind of actiony/Matrixy sort of way.

Still to see 'Spinnen'-Man 2 yet, and need to see the next film in the Tartan Asia Extreme festival, A Tale of Two Sisters, before it vanishes!

LOL - AVP is directed by Paul (sometimes with a W) Anderson, the man who brought you $hopping, Event Horizon, errrr Mortal Kombat & ^*eep*^ Soldier... In such fine hands how can anything go wrong?

Plus everybody and their cousin is using Antartica as a lost city type doobury at the moment - including everybody's favourite 'borrower' Stargate (incidently the new spin-off Stargate Atlantis has a new baddy... You guessed it, another vampiric creature called the Wraith!)

I saw AVP and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I had pretty low expecations but it was actually decent. I didn't hear any weird piping of "Tekeli-li!" though. Lance Henriksen's character plays a brief homage to his former Aliens franchise Bishop character's hand - knife trick thing. And the name of the ship the expedition used was the Piper Maru (which was a ship in an X-Files episode and also Gillian Anderson's daughter's name).

As for The Village, it wasn't as good as I had hoped. But unlike AVP I went in with pretty high expectations. It's not a horror movie at all. It is suspenseful in a few places in a Signs sort of way. And it has a few little twists. And Bryce Howard does a great job in it. Overall I liked it. It just wasn't what I was expecting.
