Ok people. What scares/scared you the most. Your granny's teeth, big hairy spiders, the teletubbies! Maybe you had a really horrible nightmare (you found you were reading a Clive Barker book) http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/eek.gif

Here's where you can reveal all..........

Please, no-one laugh, but I'm really scared of ...ducks http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/eek.gif

Yeah, ducks - except Daffy - horrible quacky things - ugh!

My worst nightmare was when I was about 12, but I can remember it so vividly...

I was in my back garden at home (near Hartlepool), and giant pizzas the size of buildings started floating through the air. But these weren't ordinary giant pizzas, oh no, these were nuclear, and I knew that if they touched me I would die, but they were floating lower and lower, until I was flat on my stomach and then ... one of them touched me!!

I screamed 'cos I knew I was gonna die, but then a voice came booming out of the sky "THIS IS JUST A PRACTISE - NEXT TIME IS THE REAL HOLOCAUST"

Then I fell asleep and had an awful dream... http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

Ok, ok..hmm..anything to do with roaches, unless if there are spiders who will protect me (Arachnaphobia I do not have..except with the spelling). And anything that has to do with injury to the eyes. Saw a movie once, can't even remember the name of it, had nightmares of having the same kind of eye damage done to me for a week. :-

My biggest fear is losing my son. He fills my life with joy, and gives me hope, and a reason to do the best I can do. (Emaleth...) I also have a fear of eye injuries. I saw the movie "Friday The 13th, part III" and Jason walked up behind this guy and squeezed his head until his eyes popped out. I was four or five years old when I saw this, and my sister (who was 11 or 12 years old) would come behind me and squeeze my head and tell my eyes were going to pop out. But I turned out okay, don't you think? http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/eek.gif

Ahh Luna..thats the one! Is that the 3-D movie with the spear gun? Ewwww..there I go.

*Chuckles at Lord Shaithis's fear of typo demons* Well, I was close, and I did admit to having spelled it wrong also :-P lol!

*Does not mention that in her early 20's she had the nickname of Doorknob for some awful reason that she chooses not to remember..plus..she really can't remember much of her early 20's.. :-|*

Ok, after GG another funny one I guess.
I was about 5-6 when i first watched "Jaws" and even though i was always crazed with scary movies this one left a bad influence. So I have this shark phobia every time I enter the sea. No swimming in deep waters for me and definitely no diving. Believe me, this can be frustrating when you live in Greece, with the warm weather and the sea a few minutes away....

What scares me most is anything that has more or less legs than four. Worst nightmare, waking up and becoming a born again hardcore christian. My apologies to those with religious belifes,,, but hey should you be in this web site?

Lichloathe, Just to make things worse...Sharks usualy kill in only 3-4ft of water. I wouldn't worry about the deeper bits.

I have a recurring nightmare that started when I was about 10. I would be in my friends house, but something was wrong. No people were there, just me. I would walk up the stairs and enter the converted atic room. But it turned out that I walked down into a dungeon with nitre streaked stone built walls and a stone floor. It was pitch black except for an area in front of me, say 10m away. A light of unknown source from above dimly lit up an old oak bench. It was about 2m wide and 4m long. Sat on it was the figure of a person, dressed in a brown or black hood and cape (possably a monk's habit). As I took a step closer I could then see that the person had their back to me, as I took another step the figure turned thier head. I would freeze on the spot and watch as the dark shape slowly turned to face me with their head down. As it came closer the head started to lift. I could see no features of the face, it just looked like a black void. By this time it was only a few metres away, then I saw two dimly lit red eyes in the black void of a face and a dark hand coming from it's side holding a sicle.
Then I would wake up. Although I suffered the most as a child I do still get the same nightmare from time to time.

As for fears....spiders! I don't mind the big hairy dangerous one's. It's garden spiders that get me. In fact anything bigger than a money spider.
The other more serious one is restricted movement. i.e. a straight jacket. I had to visit a psyco ward once due to a friend (now ex-girlfriend) doing something stupid to get attention. I was there for about 45mins. Then I legged it before I went insane myself.

They say I'm cured, but I have my doubts.

Emelath, yes, it was that 3-D movie. Wasn't that horrible? Plus, the victim was in a wheel chair, so he didn't even have a chance to run through the woods and trip on a branch like all the others!

Goth Girl- what worries me most is why you'd be afraid of ducks, not your nuclear pizza dream (which is wierd I'll admit); but ducks are small (smaller than you at least)they have nice peaceful coloring to them and they usually avoid people unless you have bread. What's the big deal... the fangs, the claws or those fearsome mandibles of death?

My weirdest nightmare happens to be related to my irrational fear... My teeth. I've never had a cavity or any teeth problems, but if I skip brushing or bang my teeth together during the day I can usually count on a nightmare about loosing my teeth that night. The dream goes somthing like wobbling a loose tooth and having it come out, then another and another and another until I am sweating bullets with a handful of my own teeth. I usually wake up and immediately brush my teeth. These nightmares are different most of the time but the end result is the same... I am scared and toothless.

Scared of? Moths of course. :o)

I hate the diveboming little *###$%$. I don't know why, no particular reason - I was just born with a fear of moths - hmm come to think of it butterflies too - oh and those big 100 metre sprint specialist spiders, you know, the ones that can run faster that any of us.

hmmm

Moths and butterflies are my fear too, they always flutter around my face and freak me out. Occasionaly my shadow scares me too, I'll be alone somewhere see a movement out the corner of my eye and jump out of my skin and have a look around before I realise what it was.

Mike C teeth falling out actually has a symbolic meaning but I can't remember what.
I think it has something to do with letting go of something.

gatewish- If you find out what (or where I can find out more) let me know... I just hope it isn't symbollic of letting go of my teeth. http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I am kinda fond of them. http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Goth Girl and ducks... Anya (Buffy) and Bunny Rabbits... Hate to think of the carnage if they went to a petting zoo together!

My nightmares were weird, one that translates to words was being at the seaside and gradually seeing more and more jelly-fish on the beach... multiplying, getting closer... one sting and they kill horribly, painfully... I make it off the beach but still their numbers increase, they're on the promenade... allways getting closer no matter the direction I run... I end up clambering up a lamp post, strain upawards to drag myself onto the light - but there's a jellyfish already up there... waiting...

I'm off to pop another pill now - feel quite flustered after that!

Scariest thing?

Erm, honestly it's clowns!!! redface.gif Not sure why, but just the sight of them freaks me out!
I had this well before the film IT as well, so it's nuffin to do with that.

Worst nightmare? Zombies! When I was about 5-6 I saw Dawn of the Dead and it led to a few nightlymares about being eaten alive....Nice!

My worse nightmare is losing my son, Andrew. He is my everything.
The thing I'm scared of the most is kind of stupid, but its stairs. If I'm walking up or down the steps, I have to hold onto the wall and I go sooooo slow. I have even refused to live in apartments because I didn't want to deal with stairs.

now my worst nightmare is breaking my other ankle, but worse than that would have been breaking the good one just after coming out of hispital for the first time.... ahhhh.

Oh and did I mention snakes that talk and knock their heads against walls and things to break into your bedroom while you sleep.... look kindf of like cobras.... hwoever I don;t think this breed of snake exists, so I think I might be ok.
