Hi Dark..or is it Fang...Me & Mazrah have one or two tattoo's between us. I have a couple on the vampire theme, one of my lady Mazrah on my chest and a bat on my wrist.
I will be getting the cover of Avengers done as soon as i can make up my mind where to put it. So being as it looks like your in America,i vote for the cover of Avengers.
ahhhh yes now I remember you guy's in the states don't have Avengers yet.....hehehehe http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/wink.gif

Well me personally I have had 5 tattoos done. Two I had covered up because I got tired of them and they were the first I had ever got. Came to the realization that they weren't so hot. *L*
Anyway I have an Eagle on my upper right arm about to land on it's kill, a full body wolf on my left shoulder blade and the the head of a werewolf on my upper left arm.
As to what you should get..... no matter how the poll goes do a tattoo that appeals to you not anyone else. It's an expression of ones self not someone else's opinion. Also check with certain tattooists. I know with most tattoos they can "scale it down". Basically shrinking the size of the tattoo so that it doesn't take up more room than is needed. Find out first for sure before committing.
Then and only then get the ink done. Good luck and enjoy.
AAAWWWWHHHOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Hi DFF...I'm not sure of the size, cause I can't make up my mind where I want it.
Yet again I have to agree with Canker(it must be a dog thing)Make sure it's what YOU want.

Personally, if I were to get another simple tattoo, it would probably be the original Necroscope skull...you just can't go wrong there. But if I were to go all out...the cover of The Last Aerie would make an excellent back covering!

Yeah Deano, id go for Nathans idea. The original skull would be a really good idea because most people would recognise it, wouldnt cost much and, HELL it would mean alot less pain!! http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif i'd like to get it done myself but im rather skint and can't afford it. but i say go for it man. send a photo when you get your tatto, whatever one you decide on.

 Try for something big , coz all of the covers have soooo much detail , & big tats are definitely more rewarding for you .... maybe go for a collage ? tobesandcharlie@btinternet.com

Apart from getting my nipple pierced this weekend  I have booked up a visit for my tattoo, which wiil be a half sleeve covering a couple of old tats. I'm going to have the cover of lost years 2, as the main feature but hope to have a couple of the other skulls added if i can find the space, smile.gif
If and when i sus out how to post pictures, i'll post before, during and after photos.

Hi everyone, I think the original Necroscope skull it a pretty cool idea, coz it's the first and all that... I have a silhouette of a bat in front of the moon on my left shoulder blade, often gets mistaken for batman although it looks nothing like it!!
A collage suggested earlier is probably a good idea, take a bit from each!

It will be finished on the 20th June. I have taken pics of b4 during and will post when finished.
I hope a photo will do it justice smile.gif

Can't wait to see those pics deano...send 'em my way if you need help posting them. smile.gif
I figured I'd jump in on this and let you know the Wolfe is considering getting some ink done.....not a Necro cover, but something along those lines.
I've somewhat commissioned a local artist known to some of you to come up with a wolfe design for me and I'm also thinking of having the site's skull placed somewhere....
Just how painful are tatoos.....? smile.gif
Canker
May 31st, 2001, 10:29 AM
Shadoe....... I don't care what people say... Tattoos hurt! *L*
Macho men try to say they don't ... real men admit the pain. *L*
I've had 4 tattoos done on my upper arms (two covering up two older tattoos) and 1 tattoo on my left shoulder blade.
The artist told me at the time of the full body wolf on my back to expect it to hurt more than the arm. Apparently the nerve endings are much closer to the surface of the skin on your back than your arm so it hurts a hell of a lot more. *L*
Now as to how it feels on your arm?...... Think of a deep cat scratch that is non-ending. As long as that needle is doing it's work that's how it felt to me. Painful but annoying as well.
But if you're passionate about what you want for a tattoo, you'll go with it. Pain only lasts so long. The tattoo is forever!
Nathan

I have seven and in my experience...Canker's right! It hurts!
Arms and legs are bearable but stay away from the spine and the nipples. I almost ended up with a small black line next to my nipple because that's all it took for me to say..." STOP!!" But being a manly sort of man, I continued...it still hurts to think about it.
If I can find something that looks real enough, I plan to get a simple strap put around my left wrist...with a half-twist. :D (Unfortunately I live in one of only 3 states where tattoos are illegal...so I have to go to Texas! :()
ShadoeWolfe
May 31st, 2001, 12:17 PM
You're kidding? Tatoos illegal? Ok, so what is the penalty if you get caught having one done - or better yet - if you have one?! lol... smile.gif
Nathan
May 31st, 2001, 12:24 PM
The penalty for having one done here in good ol' Oklahoma is AIDS or hepititis or something equally as lovely and unsanitary.
The cops probably wouldn't do much about it except close down the shop, (apartment...garage...etc.) There is a cop living down the street from me that is covered in tatoos...he gave me the number for someone here in the city he uses...but I'm not taking any chances! They're trying to pass a bill to legalize right now...crossing fingers... smile.gif
ShadoeWolfe
May 31st, 2001, 01:42 PM
uhhhhh...stiff penalty. Yeah, I'd go to Texas or anywhere where the place is sanitary! smile.gif

Tattooing illegal? EEK!! wht about piercings, are they legal?
Regarding pain, I always think that being tattooed feels like a white hot, fine knife being drawn through your flesh. Painful, but not unbearable (sometimes almost pleasurable, especially the filling in)! Except on the back, I found that very painful indeed... «and the understatement of the year award goes to...!« :D
I«m planning on getting a tat on my lower back next (dunno when!), which I just know is gonna be agony! Still, gotta be done.
Deano, can«t wait to see your tat, you gotta show us the minute it«s done, or else!!!
Nathan

Piercings have been legalized only within the last couple of years...hopefully the needle will be soon as well!

No prob's I shall send the pictures to Shadoe on or about the 21st of june, a day after i get it finished smile.gif
As to how painfull....sometimes the pain is enjoyable, sometimes it isn't
My Necroscope(Lost years vol2 by George Underwood)was a cover up job, I had 2 tats covered and it was 2 hrs of outline which is probably the most painful part of tattooing.Yes it is painful but bearable, I must admit though after 2hrs my arm was more numb than in any pain smile.gif

I live in NH but was raised in Mass.
In Mass. it was illegal until this year to get a tattoo. Piercings I believe are still illegal.
I think in NH the only thing they frown on when it comes to tattoos is a tattoo on the face or neck area. Something to do with changing your distinguishing features. *L* Must think we Hampshire people are all convicts or something. tongue.gif

 i dont suppose anyone would like to know that as well as my wimpy other half i also had a tattoo done. it's not a necroscope tat, but i did design it myself and even the tattooist said it was really cool tongue.gif
smile.gif in case your interested it's a arm band with an underwater cartoon theme i suppose thats what you would call it?
that was pretty tender on the underside of my arm but the rest was fine smile.gif and it took over an hour to do also no whimpering from me  oh yeah nathan i have a half band of tribal on my wrist which was the least uncomfortable of my tats to have done, and incase your wondering i have 6 altogether :D

Can't wait to see how it came out, Deano - which reminds me - i'll have to get the life streamers on mine finished before long... and the other arm started on!
Got to say now it's healed properly it looks grand, almost as if it was always supposed to be there?
And the sensations when it was being done... Yes it hurt but it was delicious.
Does this mean that the KeoghCon's going to turn into a tat comparing contest... perhaps we ought to give a prize for that too? lol
Nathan
June 3rd, 2001, 08:37 PM
Hi again Mazrah! smile.gif I'd heard the wrist wasn't very painful...does yours go across the inside? Where your veins are? Seems like that might hurt a little...?
I really want to find something that will be realistic before I have it done. So far I haven't found anything I've been happy with...or pictures of anyone's work that looks like they could pull it off. I saw in a magazine a guy who had pictures of his kids put on his belly. Looked realistic as hell but the artist was from Germany! :( Ah well...someday!
...and on a side note...which one of you got into Lumley first, you or Deano? And how did the other get the other interested? I've been trying to get myMandi to read them for years!! No luck yet...
Mazrah
June 4th, 2001, 04:15 AM
hi nathan,
most of my wrist band is on the inside across the viens and it just crosses the little creases where you bend the wrist, which was the only troublesome part 'cos every time i bent it, it would crack. did'nt hurt though and it heald ok smile.gif
on the other subject well naugty of me really but i fancied reading necroscope when i first saw it so i bought it for dean as a birthday present :D only trouble with that was i had to let him read it first ;) but i've allways read alot of horror or fantasy after all it's alot more exciting than most stuff you read :D

Excellent Deano! That's one hell of a cover up!
A new guy at work has one that's pretty cool. It's a rooster with X's for eyes, its toungue poking out, and a noose around it's neck.
He says he's won many bets in which he claims he's got a cock that hangs below his knee. The tattoo is located (yup, you guessed it) on his right calf, just below the knee...
Not that I'd ever do it, but I thought it was pretty funny on him! smile.gif

Did it hurt... what a silly question... :D Truth be told - no - it didn't. There was one area that was a bit tender, but it wasn't really pain, just annoying.
Now that it's been there all night - yeah, my arm is sore there, but it just feels like I slammed it into a wall, sort of a dull ache... nothing more.
Maybe I got it in a nice unsensitive spot, but I was surprised it didn't hurt - I was expecting it to from what I had been told... maybe I'm just tough as nails though too... :D

Your tat is great, ShadoeWolfe! And as far as "Pain"...they tend to hurt more on a bony prominence; shoulderblade, ankle, etc. Then there's body piercing...PHEW! If you are pleased with your body art, as with all good things, I believe it's worth the pain. Can't wait to see your wolf tat, Shadoe!
