Hi all,

Just a thought for april... it's been a might while since we were all properly together and I would like to propose that we meet up in London at the Bram Stoker or something like that. I already mentioned it in another thread, but thought this would be a good starting point.

Reasons to have it, as I remember GG's birthday is around then, I need a beer desperately, well not now, but certainly then when I should be walking fully again, and other people have shown an interest off list (and on list). So I would say to have it either the weekend 13th April or 20th april.

Any takers?

Did someone mention beer ;)
You can count on me and Mazrah :D

One request though, the later in the month the better for me, as the rugger season ends on the 20th, so could it possibly be the 27th smile.gif

Well, there's plenty of notice, Soooooo

I guess I'll be there ;) 13th is best for me, but as much notice as possible of a confirmed date would be brill.

How's the leg now TOPs?

there a chance I wont be able to make it on that last weekened as I have a uni reunion to attend... it's been three years and they want to reunite... I'll email the person resposible and ask them to have it in the 1st week of may. but there's not much chance of that.

will update the leg situation in the relevant thread... wouldn't want Shadoe or Nathan to move and then for me to leave the board now would you? LOL

G'day Peeps,

If someone can decide on a weekend and then post it up, it would be appreciated. I can't say yea or nay until I know which.

As the norm, work keeps getting in the way.

All dates are OK for me.

I would propose the 13th. As it's your birthday Goth Girl, how about a suitable Venue??

March 5th, 2002, 09:48 PM

i'd love to be there

I'd rather not the 27th... things may be a little strange for me that weekend. And I would really be upset if Deano and Mazrah couldn't make it... so would the 20th be a suitable compromise?

Plus I would feel too guilty imposing yet another birthday of mine on you all!!

Like I said I don't mind. I'm up for the 27th. mor the 20th.... someone make a bloody decision. OK I WILL.. 20th it is then..

GG Leaving London

In that case, we'll make it on the 20th, to celebrate GG's escape from the smoke. ;)

Bram Stoker sounds really good as it's really near bond street, well if you know where to look!

I personally can't wait as it'l be one of the first times I've been out properly since early Jan, although I can only drink about a pint now before I feel bloated and ill! Coke I can drink though....

Goth Girl
March 8th, 2002, 02:05 AM
You getting your Eerie's mixed up Tops? (nasty :D )

The Marlborough Head is the one near Bond Street, where we went last April, the Bram Stoker Tavern is in South Kensington (miles out!)

topol_sheap
March 8th, 2002, 01:24 PM
obviously getting things mixed up.... so where again... for me, near is better.... preferably no tube changes with escalators... which I can do no, but it's amsing... unless I can travel down with someone that'll be able to help me. - but I might not need that then... it would be just to carry my crutch (the one I wont be using wehen getting on a off escalators)... it all depends on how I am doing, but as I remember Bram Stoker is in Kensington, and about half a mile from the station...

So the 20th of April it is is it.... And the Bram Stoker Pub.

Okay, no worries. I'll have to check my diary, but I will try to make arrangements.

Time approx 1.00pm?

Tops Time 2pm - 3pm

Which tube station is it near this place then?

Goth Girl
March 8th, 2002, 11:17 PM
I think for Tops sake, the Bram Stoker is out... it is a bit of a walk, so I think the Marlborough Head would be more convenient, also more central. There are escalators at Bond St, but if you like Tops, I can meet you on the Central Line? That way I can give you a hand if you need it.

And I think if you wanna eat, do it before you get to the Marlborough Head... Eerie pubs aren't noted for their culinary abilities!!

Thanks GG,

I appreciate this, well I guess you know that anyway!

And yes I will be on time... hopefully by then things should be much easier...

So 1pm then?

Sounds good to me....

Wow, do we have closure on this? smile.gif

Saturday April 20th, 1pm

The Marlborough Head

Just off Oxford Street, nr Bond Street tube (Central and Jubilee lines), opposite Selfridges (usually...!)

Email or ring me for further directions/details!

I prefer the basement bar, but we can stay upstairs if it's gonna be a pain for you Tops? but if you can make it down the stairs, at least there's everything you need down there... bar, loos, bad food...!!

Anyone staying in London or is everyone travelling back same day?

Goth Girl
March 10th, 2002, 02:18 AM
Once again, I'm really sorry that I can't offer anyone a place to stay, but I'm not really in a position to... Hotel d'Alton has been condemned and closed down!! :(

going down stairs isn't a bother.... so long are there are hand rails to help me out! but hopefully by then I shouldn;t need the crutches as much. possibly no t at all... well that's if I do my excercise and don't break my other ankle... and I probably wont be drinking as i had about 4 pints on saturday as was completely rat arsed in a big way! I got a taxi home this time though....

It's getting close, so I thought I'd better bump this up the thread list a little!!

Marlborough Head, Sat April 20th, 1pm.

North Audley Street, off Oxford Street, nr Selfridges. Closest tube station; Bond Street (Central or Jubilee line)

OK, directions from Bond Street tube.... exit Bond Street tube station (Central and Jubilee lines) onto Oxford Street (unfortunately there are exits on both sides of the road, but you want to head towards the Marble Arch end of Oxford Street)

If you're going the right way, you should pass (among other things) an Easy Everything cafe (other side of road to the pub we're going to!), and a book shop, Books Etc, on the corner of Lumley Street... sound familiar? LOL

North Audley Street is on the left hand side of Oxford Street, kinda diagonally opposite Selfridges main entrance, on the other side of the road! There's a Laura Ashley shop on one corner of it (mmm, my favourite - not!) and an American style diner on the other. The Marlborough Head pub is just a little way down, but easily seen from Oxford Street, it's a huuuuge pub!

Go down the stairs to the Vault bar... there's loads of little nooks and crannies, but just listen for the most noise, that's where we'll be!!

If you don't trust yourself (or my directions!), and would like me to meet you at Bond Street tube, email me on gothgirl@brianlumley.com and I'll send you my mobile number so we can arrange to meet... Bond Street tube's only about 5 minutes from the pub, so it's no problem.

Tops, still want me to meet you at Stratford on the Central line platform?

See you there guys...!

GOth,

I think I should be able to manage to get there now as I know I definitely have Pybob staying at mine, so he'll be able to help if I get a little stuck, but this week I plan to put myself throught some pain and walk about the office without cruches... you never know, I might become the crutchless wonder;)

Things certainly are going well... Goth, do you happen to know the p[ostcode to the place in question, as I could post a link to multi-map for the less informed of us about;)

Looking forward to seeing all you guys again,

TOps

Couldn't find the postcode, not that I searched really hard, but this might help!
map (http://www.hellnoise.co.uk/hellnoise_map.html)

Lucky I found this site... Lucyfur and Kyrian are old friends of mine, but they do have dreadful tastes in music (well, some of it is bearable!) So we're likely to be mobbed by metallers if we stay around there too late! Of course, some of you might wanna...!

Shroom, if you're interested, Strapping Young Lad appears on their playlist... tongue.gif

Gak! I'll have to make it then, wont I?

I'll never let it be said that I shied away from "strapping Young Lads"..., erm no, wait a minute, this is the way this mix-up originally started!

Just to clarify for those who don't know the story, never type "Strapping Young Lads" into a search engine, no matter how interested you are in the band.

Doh.

I'll confirm my attendence (or no) by the end of the week. Lots of changes going on in the N.E. work-wise...

Strapping Young Lads... a band or a hobby Shroom?

Sorry we couldn't make it for your Birthday GG :(
We have had a hectic couple of weeks...Our bank balance has taken a severe battering. We had to attend a family Funeral in Ireland and Mazrah has gone back out there again (at no small exspense) on a mercy mission, to repatriate a dog, which was being ill-treated....all in all a very hectic couple of weeks !!!
