Just finished Conspiracies, and will have to go to their board to ask a few questions about that (not defecting though!), which I have to say was very good, and my reading list has changed a little... moved on to All the Rage by Wilson now... need to get into the Necros saga again soon....

To my horror, my time for reading has disappeared into thin air with a disturbing Keogh-like fashion. I've got two or three books due to start, and they are:
'Redemption Ark', by Alastair Reynolds. Sci-fi stuff. Sorta sequel to 'Revelation Space'
'Misspent Youth' by Peter F. Hamilton. I'll only be reading this soon if I win a damned Ebay auction (there's a promotional copy on sale - novel not released until November)
Wish me luck smile.gif

I just started Michael Moorcock's Elric: Song of the Black Sword. It's been out there for a while, but the series looks promising. My big brother gave it to me, as he did the the first Necroscope many years ago, and he certainly got that one right.
Let the fun begin.

A friend of mine lent me a copy of A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin. He describes it as horror/fantasy.
Anyone know it?
Nathan
July 30th, 2002, 01:15 PM
Well, it was good!
You fantasy readers out there should check into this guy. It's not so far out there that you can't relate to it, yet it's otherworldly enough to be different. It's bloody, romantic, tragic, and exciting.
I'm now on to the second book: A Clash of Kings. He's only up to three books in the saga so far but there's no telling how many are to come...at least two more according to his website.

Just finished reading American Scream - The Bill Hicks Biography. Amazing book, pretty amazing fella... One of my favourite comedy tracks is where he deals in a less than usual fashion with a drunk female heckler during an appearence in Chicago...
Got a book be Sabine Baring-Gould originally written at the end of the 19th Century about werewolves looking at the history, origins and truisms of this 'Mythical' beast (and I know you aren't mythical Canker!)
Great read, usual victorian colour and hyperbole...
And when that's done - the Official Spinal Tap Companion... tongue.gif

Just starting on the 'Dead' trilogy by Richard Calder (Dead Girls, Dead Boys, Dead Things)... so far they're a bit more sci-fi than I usually would bother with, but they have a vampirey undertone, so sticking with it so far!

Porno by Irvine Welsh.... couldn't resist even though some of the stuff of his that I have read was so disturnbing I nearly threw the book (Filth) away half read...
Porno is a direct follow up to train spotting, which was a mad book, much worse than the film:)
