Inspired by Necroscope: Defilers I will be hunting for vampires on the Greek Island of Thassos this July
Just 17nm from Kavala, Thassos boasts cliff top monasteries, and palatial buildings constructed by German prospectors. You don't have to be David Chung to know I have picked the right spot. Though to be honest Brian told me the secret of where Krassos might really be at Keogh con II.
I have everything I need, sun cream, beach towel, kneblash and silver

I'm off to Brussels next month to do some vamp hunting myself... I've heard tell of a bar called Le Cercueil (The Coffin), so I'm going to check it out. Other ports of call will be the Halloween bar, and The Restaurant of the Strange... d'ya think the vamps are making it a little obvious tongue.gif

I know it well, and have a skull shaped beer mug to prove it! Le cercuiel looks a little like a funeral parlor from the front, inside the theme is continued and the tables are glass topped coffins, I think you will like it.

So long for 2 weeks or so guys .... I am jetting off to Benidorm tomorrow for sun, sea and fun!! Hope my hotels still there after yesterdays bombing -- trouble seems to follow me like Scooby Doo!!!

Checked out to see if theres a vampire bar .. but alas seems to be lacking -- maybe chance of a business venture :D

Anyway, free from my inane ramblings for a week or so .. maybe try and find a cypercafe while I'm there. Take Care everyone.... and in the style of Arnie 'I'll be back--- bombs permitting!!!'

I have returned from Thassos. It is a beautiful Island and I can't thank Brian enough for inspiring me to go there. While there I ate fried squid and did amusing Cthulu impersonations with the tentacles and visited the monastery. I only hope the little nuns who live there never get hold of a copy of Necroscope: Defilers, they would have a fit!

As I'm re-reading Psychomech at the moment, I've just realised that I'm going to be (partially) following in Garrison's footsteps when he first visited Schroeder in Germany... next week I'm going to Hanover, then on to Hildesheim (but not The Harz!) Would be nice if I had a few o Schoeder's millions, but never mind, still gonna have a blast!

Was in Brisbane Australia during my travels at the start of the year and couldn't find the Xanadu pleasure dome anywhere but then again Lord Malinari the Mind isn't due for a good few years yet. ;)

Me and mazrah had two weeks in Thasos in July. I knew I had heard of it somewhere before....doh :rolleyes:
We had a great time, and stayed just outside Thasos town, by a beach called pachis beach.
The hotel owners treated us like family, and we're planning to go back there next year.. :D

We stayed in Thassos town itself but made a few trips around the island as Thassos town doesn't really have the best beach
I was amused that the local Lager is called Mythos, I just wish we had gone for longer as it was a bit harsh returning to a rain soaked blighty

Any time I got to greece, been to Rhodes and Zakynthos now, both excellent, although Rhodes a bit pricey and not as good as Zante, I always sup Mythos... well unless it's cocktail time - which generally leads to a disaster:)

I am so jelous. I would love a holiday but I think I will be holidaying at home this year as short of funds. I get a weekend in Kendal at the end of the month for a friends wedding and maybe a long weekend in Settle in October but thats about it.

Still, I suppose it gets me away from work for a while which is never a bad thing!

We're going to Thassos in a few weeks. We don't stay in Thassos Town though. Limenaria is about a 45 minute coach ride away and the beach is as long as you can see. You can stay at Christos Studios which has a very nice bar ... I'll say no more but the name of the bar would be a dead give away. Also Potos which is about another 10 minutes away has a good beach as well.

Mythos beer ... yes, I have several of those while we are there. Not to mention, ouzo, Metaxa and retsina, amaretto, samubuca ... whatever hits me at the moment.

We are almost 99% sure of going back to Thassos next year, but before that we have booked a special holiday in St petersburg Florida in march next year...what's special about that I hear....well we have arranged to get married on a yacht of the coast of clearwater on the 5th of march :D :D
