Or turned into the lowliest of thralls. but I honestly think that a "live" movie cannot do justice to the Wamphyri. Most particularly Sunside/Starside. I've seen all the references to LOTR, but the CGI was minimal and complimented the film. So much of the necroscope books made into film would have to be CGI that I think it'll end up looking bad. Kinda like The Hulk.

My idea, and the one I posed to Brian when I met him at Balticon in 2005(?), is have the people who did the animation for the Final Fantasy movie animate Necroscope. Now I know Final fantasy was a really bad movie, but that was because they changed so much of the story line from the games that the only thing it had in common was the name. But the animation was superb.

Please don't hurt me...... ;o)

Am I the only person who liked the Final Fantasy movie?

Either way would work in my opinion. Good CGI is going to require a good budget and I don't know who is wanting to do the movie or spend a lot on it.

My concern is not so much how it looks but how well they stick to the story and how well they convert it into a movie. I have seen so many books butchered in the movie.

I can't comment on this as I've had the double disc dvd sitting on my shelf for years and never watched it as yet. Perhaps I'll go look at the animation and check it out :o

Haven't seen Final Fantasy either, but now I'm curious!

Also Necro, I'm curious to Brian's response to your suggestion, what did he say about it?

LOL So true. You actually watched that movie?

I liked Final Fantasy. I am not sure about the title going with the movie. Maybe that is why people don't like it, it throws them off. I thought it was pretty good. It is different and not something that one usually sees in Western movies (movies from the West, not cowboy movies :p ).

What, Tops? As opposed to bad? I spose that's bad money for a bad film ( In fact, I would have rather opened a vein or two.......!!)?

I loved the animation. It wasn't a bad movie, it just sucked hard because they named the damn thing after a video game franchise and as far as I can tell, it didn't have a thing to do with the games. recently, there was another animated movie that had incredibly good animation. I just can't recall it now as I am a bit snockered! ;O)

As for Brian's response, I posed it during the Q&A segment after a reading (chapter 1 from "The Touch". Now THAT was a treat!). There were a lot of questions and he simply said, "no". ;O(

I think they should at least consider doing an animated series like the Spawn series on HBO. Would also give them an opportunity to do more of the books than a series of movies. I'd be willing to bet parts of my body that I don't want to lose that they'll never do all 15.

So - accept BL's no answer. And don't even think about the Spawn comparison. That was another truly dread adaptation! Sorry, Buddy, but it was.

The first FF movie sucked ass, but the second one( which is called final fantasy VII: Advent children) takes place right after the end of FF 7(the game), and it was unbelievably awesome.

btw, is BL actually making a necroscope movie?

Styx, you'll find, I think, that there are 2 options on a movie at the moment and these are 'in discussion'. Check out the board for more info as and when it happens.

I didn't like the final fantasy movie, but I kinda liked the hulk. I think I would much prefer live action in a necro movie, it could bring out more of the horror aspect of the whole thing. Easier to relate to, ya know?

I think that both practical and CGI effect would be necessary for a Necroscope film. Think of how good the Uruk Hai looked in the LOTR films, or ALL of the Orcs and otherwise tortured things looked. They were terrific! Most up close shots were of actors and actresses in heavy facial prosthetics that looked fantastic! But the wide aerial battlefield shots were CGI. It's a balance between Practical and CGI. It's not necessary to use CGI throughout an entire film. But on the other side of the coin, you would'nt want to use a Practical effect for a Wamphyri close up in a bloodlust rage when it's teeth are shredding through it's bloody gums either.
It's like when Nathan got the killing eye from Eygor Killglance: He had to use it sparingly, else he could potentially screw...things...up!
I think the most diffucult thing about making a Necroscope film would be deciding which novel(s) to include. I've not read through the other threads about the potentiality of the film, but I'd assume the the first novel would be the basis. I just finished Bloodwar, and I must say that after travelling through eight terrific novels, it's gonne be tough! I think the Vampire World trilogy was just utterly amazing!
