Alright guys and gals anybody thinking of catching the new Indy flick this weekend?

I'm going tommorrow night and was positively buzzing about it until I saw a giant poster on Trafford Park this afternoon and man does Harri look OLD, not so sure I'm gonna like it now but you've gotta brave these things I suppose and go in there with no expectations to get anything out of it.

Did I mention Man Utd won the Champions League woo hoo been completely drunk for 2 days now :D (completely off topic I know, but I always was a rule breaker xxx ;) )

We went to see it on Thursday. I expected the place to be full to bursting, but it was only 2/3's full. NOT wanting to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, BUT it was a bit far fetched in places, (Helm knows what i mean):).

But what i did see was a trailer for the new Will Smith film and that looks Really good, stuffed to bursting with CGS?

Gotta say - I was disappointed. Went to see it because it was Indy - but i wanted to keep things in perspective so I watched the original trilogy before I went. They weren't AS good as I remembered them, but they still weren't bad - especially considering when they were made. There was cheese all over in the original movies, so i went in with an open mind, expecting some cheese - but not flat out ridiculousness (is that a word?)

I'll leave out the spoilers, but suffice it to say that there were things soooo far fetched in this as to make it almost unwatchable. It was great to see Indy in action again and there were good parts too and the acting wasn't bad - but the story and plot was so pathetic, the best actors in the world couldn't have made this movie good or as classic as the originals - much like the Star Wars franchise. Out of the three prequels there the only one i can really enjoy is the third.

Lucas and Spielberg have combined to make some epic movies over the years - but I think those days have passed them by. This was purely for the money, and I could be wrong, but I think after the opening weekend, word of mouth is going severely dampen the boxoffice and prove this movie to be mediocre at best. Lord knows I've been wrong before. :)

I thought it was great :) I went to see it with no preconceptions of it being good - it was what I expected from this type of film, pure cheese and escapism - 2 hours of fun I wouldn't have think about - a relaxing time at the cinema.

It's funny what you say about plot for the film, the idea behind the main reason for the film (the crystal skull) is based somewhere upon fact, or at least archeological rubbish, and some of it even reminded me of the Touch (you'll remember Brian's latest Necroscope book I'm sure).

If you're looking for something you want to analyse, this isn't the film for you, if you're looking for something to remind you of the fun you had as a kid, and the kind of plot we're used to with Brian's work, then this is definitely for you.

*Opinions expressed here are mine :)

** I think we're maybe all growing older and want more from the things that entertain us.

I agree with everyone who's posted on this so far, I enjoyed it but thought it was plain silly, and the first 10 mins I actually thought it wasn't the film it just seem so Christmas special If you know what I mean.
It was Indy but at the same time it wasn't, it was watered down Indy.

Although I did like the fact that Indy had took on facets of his father, and made it a little bit more beleivable and that he was still Indy but he was older and had changed slightly as all older people do which made it more acceptable that time catches up with everone.

I haven't seen it yet but my housemate has and he came back very disapointed. He said we shall never speak of it again!

I think his expectations were like yours Shadoe, he wanted good old fasioned Indy style cheesey fun and it seems that he didnt' think it delivered either. I still intend to see it myself though, but not in the cinema
