Why am I unable to use an avatar???
I am able to upload an image for my profile but not for an avatar to post next to my user name and I am frustrated with trying to figure it out. Any help is appreciated.

Ash,

It has to do with the fact that you are a brand new member and not an Elite Lumlian. There are certain features of the board that are only available to subscribers, such as posting in the 'off-topic' forums, being able to read the latest issue of the newsletter, use a custom avatar, increase the number of PM's you can save, etc., but all of the main forums are still able to be read and posted as a Basic Lumlian.

If you are interested in subscribing, you can do it through your profile here on the forum or go to the Store page on the site and read about it there. Let me know if you have any other questions or need any help. Thanks for joining and hope to see you around.

Thank you for the info and the welcome. I am a long time fan of this series. I first read Necroscope when I came accross it at a local bookseller back in about 1991. Before I was 1/3 done with it I returned to the bookstore to buy all the rest of the series that they had. I am a huge fan of this particular vampire saga and only recently discovered that there has been a final book added to the series. Rather than read that book now, some 16 years later, I am re-reading the series from start to finish. Looking forward to reliving the saga with a new (at least to me) ending that will be more exciting with the entire storyline refreshed in my mind. Thank you again. I check back here a few times a week when I have spare time at work. Talk you all next time!

Thank you all. I really enjoy having this outlet as I am the only one I know whom has even heard of this series yet alone read one. Still trying to get enought posts to put up my own avatar. Anyone know the minimum number before I'm allowed?

I'm not even sure without doing some checking. *grins sheepishly* I set it up so long ago - I can't remember. Let me check and make sure - it might only be available to Elite Lumlians exclusively, but I think I can modify it to a set number of posts. If so though - well, I can't tell you what the number would be, because you might just spam the board to get your avatar and then just stop posting. :D Can't have that now, can we?

OK - so I found out the issue. When I did an upgrade (God knows which one - there have been quite a few in the past year), the selection for pre-defined avatars (non-custom) for the Basic Lumlians got turned off. Not intentionally (or maybe I did and it's been so long I don't remember - sorry).

Anywho - it's all fixed and Basic Lumlians can now select an avatar from a pre-defined list - there are over 124 to choose from, so something should catch your eye.

CUSTOM avatars that can be uploaded from your own computer are still only available to Elite Lumlians - that won't change. There has to be some reason to upgrade, right? :) Hope this clears everything up and sorry about the confusion for all.
