January 24th, 2005, 06:45 PM
Manek took the ring into the future and gave it to Arnott as a reminder or something like that???
January 25th, 2005, 06:03 PM
That will do nicely.
January 26th, 2005, 05:00 PM

January 31st, 2005, 09:47 AM
I can't beleive that I had the answer the whole blinking time, they don't have names as such just descriptions of what they are which are then used as names.
The one who Flitted
The one who Flowed
The one who Hopped (Hopper)

in what year was Rlyeh sunk?
February 18th, 2005, 08:44 PM
DC... Thomas.... Peter..... anyone
Does this mean i'm the winner
The ultimate stumper? grin.gif
February 19th, 2005, 07:40 AM
no you're not that good yet (you'll see why tongue.gif )... it depends on what you mean by R'lyeh, how you spell it (a very important factor), and which version of the mythos you're talking about ;)
My question about this, is are you talking of the appearance of it in House of Cthulhu?? Because it was sunk eons ago by a configuration of the stars, only for it to rise a certain times, and then it would sink again.
Your question is ambiguous as R'lyeh has risen a few times over the years, with the help of Derleth, Derleth/Lovecraft and Lumley.

February 19th, 2005, 09:16 AM
i did spell it wrong
ok, lets try this, according to Lumley in House of Cthulhu what year was -ARLYEH- sunk.

February 24th, 2005, 10:23 PM
I read the intro to house of cthulhu ;) where it does mention it. I'm not being silly.
February 25th, 2005, 12:56 AM
i didn't read through the whole intro to "house" but it mentions the rising of Surtsey in 1963.
the answer i look for is in "house" ganley...northeast corner

March 24th, 2005, 09:54 AM
anyone can answer skinters.as you can see no one else plays this game.we need more players.
questions can be about Brian's work or Brian himself
March 24th, 2005, 11:58 AM
When he left the army he became a shop security guard in Oxford Street, London.

April 1st, 2005, 10:49 PM

All are mentioned in the chapter in The Transition of Titus Crow titled "Cthulhu's Cosmic Miscegenation".
Heh, only reason I asked that question was because I just finished reading that.

April 3rd, 2005, 02:59 PM

April 22nd, 2005, 07:58 PM
the only kraken i know of was of scandanavian lore
a huge horned sea monster so huge it was mistaken for a group of islands.
April 23rd, 2005, 11:00 PM

who or...forget the what... is Great Kraken????
April 24th, 2005, 06:35 PM

i aint read the books myself but fun digging around for the answers .
April 24th, 2005, 08:27 PM
The only reference to Krakens that i can find is in Sorcery in Shad and the Kraken is mentioned(but not great).
April 25th, 2005, 09:52 AM
Kraken or Great Kraken, they both refer to the same thing.
Great Kraken,a phrase used to denote Great Cthulhu himself.
your weren't off as far as you thought skinters.
April 26th, 2005, 07:18 PM
sdkdmd - you're not asking ambiguous questions again are you? really when someone says that it doesn't mention something, and you say they are right, you should really source where you got it from.
April 26th, 2005, 07:39 PM
are you picking on me again? :(
ok,i got it from a book ;)
what book did i get it from? ;)
April 26th, 2005, 08:09 PM
just kidding skinters, still your turn.
Tops, i got it from the companion, just looking for.. with a little thought, would be an easy question.
i guess i made my mistake with the assumption that if it's in the companion, it's mentions it a book somewhere.
according to the companion
Great Kraken...a phrase used to denote Great Cthulhu himself.
Kraken...see Great Kraken smile.gif

I remember a short story - The Fairground Horror I think - where there was a priest of the Great Cthulhu with a conch-like symbol in his forehead... Only book I can think of (aside from the ones in the Titus Crow series) would be Demogorgon but its been a long time since I read that...

Ahhora Izz - not sure on spelling, but he was impressed by Tarra's kinship with the beasties, developed on the steppe's back home where they would give him a sting and he developed an immunity - or rather a tolerence to their venom.
More than anything where others would try and stamp on the scorpians and squish em off Tarra respected them - and that's why Izz took a shine..?

Well, when you come up with another answer you let me know
July 22nd, 2005, 09:47 AM
Angus McGowan had his picture taken and 30 years later, hadn't aged a day.
Nichos Karpeths had his picyure taken and although he looked ancient, his picture told another story
There are probably more if people want to look for them
Which one do you want smile.gif
July 22nd, 2005, 07:39 PM
i choose your ....first answer
i wonder why Brian did'nt call it "The Man Who Never Actually Photographed Beardsley"
July 22nd, 2005, 10:30 PM
I know. Very strange but I suppose he did photograph Beardsleys work so it's probably apt.
In my previous post I mentioned Angus McGowan. What book did he write and who published it.

Ghoul Warning was dedicated to Richard, who is he and why was it dedicated to him
July 25th, 2005, 06:25 PM
Brians son, Richard, who without his fathers knowledge saved the poetry, and some stories, that Brian had screwed up and thrown in the bin.
When Brian came to have Ghoul Warnings published he thought he did not have enough content until Richard showed him the items he had "saved"
Hence: "For Richard. For saving them"
July 26th, 2005, 09:12 AM

in 1976 Born of the Winds was nominated for a World Fantasy Award, Brian did'nt find out about it until 10 years later.
How did he find out?
What was the story that won?

I think the winner was Fritz Lieber with Belsen Express.
He found out when he was given a copy of the '86 WFC program containing a history of WFC and saw it had been nominated back in 76

OK i'm here
another author?, is that the answer or a clue
well necroscope was in 86, so you are referring to 1966 through 1986
August 16th, 2005, 06:13 PM
You need to wait your turn to ask a question in this thread. You need to answer the quesiotn right, and then it's your go... those are the simple rules. have a hunt around this thread for the full rules.
August 16th, 2005, 09:54 PM
The question stands as is.
I have given the only clue I can save for answering it myself.
If you have listened to Brian talk, listened to his interviews or read his interviews, he normally mentions this fact.
August 17th, 2005, 03:02 PM
August 17th, 2005, 10:12 PM

Luststone was a result of the answer im looking for
August 29th, 2005, 08:31 AM
I've been speaking with DC about this offline ;) And we both think the answer is The Luststone. Granted I've not checked the intro to this in the collection I have it in, but I am sure it's never gone under any other name, although I will be happy to be proved wrong ;)
Come on man, don't keep me in suspense.
August 29th, 2005, 09:38 AM
Ive heard Brian talk about this a couple of times, most recently at HorrorFind on a question and answer panel he was on, Brian and I even talked about this being a good question on the board.
So,the answer is...............
August 29th, 2005, 09:39 AM
Rot in Hell
September 1st, 2005, 05:48 PM
The strange thing about this is that Rot in Hell was written in 1982 and the Luststone in 1981.
Its strange that a story written first was a result of a later work?
Never mind, it would seem that noone got this right so unless there are objections, it must be your go smile.gif
September 1st, 2005, 08:02 PM
im almost sure Brian said that Luststone was a result of Rot, and now you got me wondering.
where did you find that Rot was written in 82
i dont know of any reference to the story anywhere
September 2nd, 2005, 06:17 PM
