Just wondered the views of my fellow Lumlians on the new Eccleston era....
Never been a fanatic of the show myself, but normally took time to watch it in its many guises. Tom Baker been my fav....
Thought episode 1 was really good, Chris Eccleston was the right kind of eccentric - Billie is pleasing on the eye and the story fast paced -- holding out hope for the rest of the series, and I note some good writers coming up -Mark Gatiss for example. Pity this will be his one and only series as the timelord

Quite enjoyed what I saw of it, and Eccleston was OK, but David Tennant who is being touted as the next Doctor was fab in Casanova, think he'd make a great Dr!

Yeah thought it was very good and kept that kind of naff quirky quality of the older series that made it kind of appealing.
I did like the quip about his northern accent that was top...

I read somewhere that the actor playing the good Dr. just dropped out if the film? This true?

Promising start to the new series, my vote for the new Dr. goes to Eddie Izzard.

Canker. It's not a film, it's a new TV series in the UK (about time). And yes he has dropped out :(
which is a shame as it's a really promising start :(

Here's a link (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/tv_and_radio/4396295.stm) to the bookies favourites for the next Doc... But remember, though this list is on the beeb's website it lists who the pundits think are most likely, Russell T and the show's producers are just as likely to pick someone completely different...

Brian and I are watching it. I like Christopher but Billie might take a while to grow on me. Blimey, I was just getting interested ... Christopher quit because he doesn't want to be type-case as who.
Oh no ... DT looks like a little wuss ... that's why I didn't watch Casanova. If they put him in there that's the end for me unfortunately.
Ah well ... can't have everything.

i do like the alan davies idea, not sure if he'd be 'right' for the role but, for me, it's between him and richard e grant and i think r.e.g is too big-although he did sink to argos ads...! I've always had a bit of a thing for davies anyway-which will explain a lot to anyone who's met hocopepa! tongue.gif
Was enjoying the new series before i had to return to my tv-less room-just silly enough methinks, but billie seemed a bit wooden at times, i'm sure she'll improve as it goes on though.

REG has done a webcast of Who - a Cosgrove Hall animated effort, quite fun if you're wondering what he'd be like in the lead (Comic Relief Special notwithstanding!) Link - REG Who Webcast (http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/doctorwho/webcasts/shalka/)
I think for the second series to stand a chance then they need to do what they did for the first - cast somebody that isn't registering, even a relative unknown otherwise we'll be just loading them with expectations...

The Daleks are back on Saturday... And this is so funny, after the Beeb were criticised for saying an eopisode might have been unsuitable for very young viewers they've started -

If you're wondering what the reactions of a 4, 6, 8 and 12 years old to the upturned dustbin episode are going to be!

Still don't know whether it'll be Ecclescake or super-strength in the blue box for the Christmas special...
As for Dave taking up residency, I missed Cassanova on BBC1 so I've no idea, but I'm enough of a geek to watch it despite whoever's at the controls - I sat through Colin Baker's three years after all!
