hi i didn't know which section this should go in so i decided to put it in here. ive noticed that this message board, as like others, gives rankings to its users. i was just wondering how that works in here. usually its based on how many posts u make but its not like that here because i've seen some people who have one post and who are lieutenants. and some people have maybe 20 posts and they r still thralls.
so if someone could please tell me how it works i'd be much grateful.

psychotic_butterfly the rankings are based on the number of posts, I believe 31 is th magic number... however a few people who gave a prototype messageboard a post immediately ascended to lieutenants. You will hafta earn your rank... but it shouldn't be too hard. So welcome to the board PB

Beats the shit out of me....

I was a Lieutenant when I got here. Maybe I just posted initially at the right place at the right time. http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/wink.gif

Welcome to the board!

Every one of the old board regulars who signed up when ShadoeWolfe put up the trial version of this board online became Lieutenants.

*sniff* I'm getting all nostalgic for the old board that would cut off your replies at the bottom of the page...

Kenickie,

No problem, if you want to use the old board, just take a left about a mile down the web and head straight into CYBERHELL and you'll find it. It's right there on the right. http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif

I'm not going to go visit it ever again, but it was a nice way to get this one going, wouldn't you say? I mean, you have to start somewhere. This site started back in November '96 with one page that had the first 5 Necroscope covers on it and Brian's email address. HA! Can you imagine that?! I got one to 2 visitors a month! We've come a long way babyyy. http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif

I'll say we have!

Maybe we could take a 'snapshot' of how the site is now, and compare it with the site in about 1-2 years and see the difference. That would be neat.

How do you guys get the bold type in your message? I don't see an option to change fonts anywhere.... grrrrrrr

Krynus You must use HTML, I see you haven't got a web page yet, but to do that you will probably hafta learn some HTML.

To bold type...
< b >Krynus< / b >

Leave out the spaces in the <>. It took me a while to figure that out myself and I know HTML. I haven't tried any other code on the board but I might tonight.

Krynus and any one else who wants to learn HTML, check out this site
http://www.copzilla.com/html/primer.html

It has made learning HTML so much easier for me. Font colors, font effects, table effects and basic code.

ShadoeWolfe, i remember your site when it first started. There was another one in itv.se if i recall but it didn't quite make it to official. There was a link to yours there and that's how i found it?
By the way, did you happen to be one of the 3 who had a "total score" on a Lumley knowledge test there? If memory serves me right there was a ShadoeWolfe there. I might be wrong though... I was one of the other 2 and there was supposed to be a final challenge but nothing happened.
Do you think you could have somethin like that here?

Lichloathe,

The site at itv.se was run by Christian Viklund and was the Official European site when mine was made the Official US site. Chris didn't keep with it thjough and slowly disappeared. I haven't heard from him in over a year, so who knows.

I was the ShadoeWolfe who won the first contest, and I never heard back from him after that either. Will something like that happen on this site? Probably not but you never know. Only time will tell....

Ehlana if you go to the link above Denton has a grid with colors and the code that matches. HTML is quite simple if you can devote enough time to it. Let me know if there is anything specific you need to know... It is still new to me.
