Just curious as to how many of you first thought that Shaitan was a fallen angel who had found himself (of course he does not remember his past at all) knocked down from above perhaps from some sin he had done, as Satan was said to have done as well?

I may be totally off on this one, hence the left field remark. Ok, its been many moons since I was last in Sunday School :-|

*patiently awaiting the rebuttles, remarks and the guffaw's* :-D

Yep Emaleth. I'll be the second to own up to it. I thought that at first as well.

EMALETH- I said the same thing myself. I wrote an article about it in the newsletter. If you want to check it out it was in Volume two, issue one.
Have a good one.

Thanks all, and Peter, I will have a look at that article too. You read a book more times than once or twice and you pick up things that you missed earlier, most of the time it is just your view changing. But I suppose thats why I enjoy reading and re-reading books. You never know what will come out of it.

i'm going to have to go with you on this one. i kind of took it for granted that he was drawing a parrallel and making it look like that on purpose, and that everybody picked up on this while they were reading. way too similarities, right? but here's something that's always been on my mind. the way it's written "shaitan" i guess pronounced "shay-tin" (like satan with an "sh"). but i always read it as "shy-a-tan." i guess i like that better. say it with me. SHY A TAN. it still gets the point across and, to me, it sounds more ominous. less like satan with a lisp. :)

Ok, let the knowledgeable agnostic step in ~chuckles~ .. Satan, Hebrew for "adversary" and Shaitan (originally thought to be pronounced "Shay-tuhn") is Arabic for the very same thing, adversary. So, all in all, it's the exact same word, just different languages. Shaitan, one of the fallen angels in Arabic lore, is a cognate term fo Iblis[Eblis], whom was deemed to be called Azazel before his fall from grace. In the Koran, sura 27, 24 Shaitan induces the Queen of Sheba and her people to adore the sun, instead of Allah. (And, that in itself is ironic, seeing as how Lucifer means "light giver" or "son of the morning star") Either way, Shaitan, and Iblis are still the equivalent of Satan in Arabic lore.

As for my thoughts on the matter, I , personally, always believed that Shaitan was in fact Lucifer himself. It would kinda fit, after all. Imagine that, Sunside/Starside as Hell itself. Doesn't sound all that far-fetched to me.

Anyway, there you have my words, and notations on the subject ~Pats his plethora of books on Angels, demonology, and the like and smiles~

As I concluded Deadspawn I definitely saw the Shaitan/Satan parallel and figured Necroscope readers were supposed to come to the conclusion that Satan's existence in our religions was spawned from Shaitan the Unborn.

And I applaud you, Vormulac for the insight you have shared with those of us that have not studied Angels, demonology, and the like.

LORD SHATHIS is the one who got it right in my opinion. VORMULAC I do not interipid Sunside/Starside as hell, its not crappy enough to be hell, and Shaitan is not Satan himself but perhaps one of his Proxys.

Lord Shaithis- I believe Brian left his symbolism open to debate... [i]intentionally.[i] He is trully a Master.

I drew the same corelation regarding Satan and Shaitan. I thought it was kind of unique the way he tied it all together.

By the way if you don't think running from Wamphyri for your whole life is not hell I would like to know what is. I don't think that would be a good life to be pilfered and turned on by your own people. Granted it's not the hell of fire and brimstone a lot of us were brought up with but it is a hell just the same.

Aye Dragutin, you think that's hell? It may possibly be, but ask someone in the know (for example Lardis, or Anna-Marie) and you'll realise that Sunside/Starside isn't really hell. Yes, it's bad, but look at the world around you. Never a day goes by without thosands starving to their deaths, rapes, murders, mass killings, children killing childred, destruction of the planet. Such weapons as to destroy all life on earth only a button press away.
Compare this to S/S, where you have a few vampires running around after a bit of food.

Doesn't really compare, does it?

Oh but I didn't say we weren't in hell as well. Hunted by our own with guns knives etc. etc. all hours of the day. Big Brother looking to take our freedom away. Special interest groups wanting things done thier way. Kids Killing kids.

Some people think we are already in hell and have to work our way out to go to the next level.

Me I like my creature comforts of this living hell rather than living in Sunside/Starside.

We could never do what we are doing right know over there.

So which level of hell is next.

AOL = Cyberhell so you can't even get away from it here. I call it A O Hell
