Hi
Im sure having read the subject line you are totally mortified - sorry but I've never heard of him. I found this site quite by accident while doing a search.
So my question is simple
which book should I read first?

what abot house of doors, or the titus crow stuff, or demogorgon, or well this could become endless, but I suppose Necroscope isn't a bad place to start http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hey karr, welcome!
I agree with t'others, Necroscope would be a fine place to start... then you'll get hooked, devour the following books, and then frantically hunt everywhere in a desperate bid to find everything else that the outstanding Mr Lumley has ever penned!
So, enjoy... and now go read!

yep, its true. I do agree that the first book you should read is Necroscope. I discovered it quite by accident myself, when my husband (now ex) tried collecting comics. I found a comic with that little something extra, and it was called "Necroscope". Later on, when I realized that it had been adapted from a book, I searched like mad for it, bought it and the rest of the series that was available at the time, and have been hooked ever since. Happy hunting!!

Gotta go with the "great majority" here with this one Necroscope is THE place to start, and just think once you read that one there will be only twelve more in the series to go.
It's great when you realise that there is still so much to read, some great books are finished before you know it, but with BL's Necroscope series what you think is the best book is outdone by the next one, so get reading and join in our great addiction http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif
oh and welcome to the board Karr

Greeting Karr, like everyone else, I agree "Necroscope" is the best place to start, however if you cant get it, try one of the other early ones, "The Source"...ect... as you get a short reminder of what has happened in the previous books to bring you up to date. I started with "The Source", and then read "Necroscope".
Kris.

I read House of Doors first, then went onto the Necroscope (Trilogy at that time). Any would be a good place to start, but make sure you read the Necroscope series, Psychomech trilogy, and the Titus Crowe chronicles (especially if you like HP Lovecraft's Cthulu stories)

I started with Necroscope 1-5 then VW 1-3.
This is cool I think because of the excellent storyline (grovel) but also it's an introduction to Brian's style of writing, 'cos it is different.
After that I just went after anything with Brian Lumley on the front cover. Hooked.
I don't think there's much I short of but I can't find 'Hero of Dreams' even though I've got 'Ship', 'Mad Moon' and 'Iced'. Obviously I haven't read them yet. Bit annoying that actually.

Hey, Blackout, nice to talk to you again!! If you dig around places like Amazon and various other online bookshops, you might be able to find some of those you're missing. Or get your backside up to London and to Forbidden Planet, I picked up a few gems in there recently.

Hey guys, I'm back. Not that anyone missed me hehe. Anyway, I really like the Titus Crow series myself. Of course the Necroscope is the best..but you COULD read both at once.

Hi Karr,
Welcome to the Board and the un-read realm of Brian Lumley.
As with other members on the board, start with any book as your first one, because after the first couple of chapters you become hooked and the collection will soon grow.
