SORRY IF THIS IS A RERUN
I was just looking at the book covers in the USA and in the UK I think that I like he USA covers better does any one else feel this way or maybe the opposite. Also can some one tell me when we will get to see the USA cover for Avengers and is it possible to order a UK copy if you live in the us since the UK version is released in FEBRUARY and we have to wait until MAY 3 months!!

No clue myself but the cover art for the UK version looks great.
For me the USA cover versions seem to express more "in your face" action while the UK versions have more of a subtle devious sort of evil to them. At least on the older Necroscope books it seems that way.

Canker,
i whole heartedly agree with you.... I think we have covered this a while ago, not in specifically, but I had a discussion with someone from TOR, who said "different markets" and left it at that....
So I like George Underwoods art better, although the American Guy's (some help here on names would be good) covers are growing on me http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif

Gotta side with Topol on this one and go for George Underwood.
I've seen a few of Bob Eggleton's covers in my local Waterstones, they're quite good but George's covers just seem more in tune with the stories inside.
Talking of cover artists though I must say the covers for "The Caller of the Black" and "Beneath the Moors" (done by Herb Arnold, I think)are BOBBINS.
These rare books are the prize of my collection and I paid a few quid for them, but the artwork on the slip covers is just SH###.
They're not a patch on George's work, aside from the Necroscope series, George has done some good designs on earlier work such as Demogorgan, House of Doors, Khai & The Pyschomech trilogy.

Whoops!!! Modified my post to change the name of the cover artist from Herb Albert (Trumpet player & one of the founders of A&R records) to the correct name of Herb Arnold.
Herb Albert could probably do better book covers though

Jase,
I disagree with your comment on the Caller of the Black cover, I know it looks sh**, but it does show the age of the book http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif And it's Arkham house, so no complaints from me!
On the note of George Underwood, II've only seen one of his covers that I didn;t like and that was E-Branch: Invaders. That was truely my least favourite of them!
Thanks for the name of the other artist BTW!!!

I think I am going to have to agree that the UK covers are more devious and evil but i personally like the "in your face" feel of the US covers.

As it was the UK cover of Necroscope that got me into BL in the first place. I have got to go with the UK covers, there is always something you missed when you look at them. Particularly the Blood Brothers covers. If you look closely you can see little skeletons inside big skeletons, mad looking bones and skulls which are part of a bigger picture, they fascinate me. Also the US covers are a bit too brown for my liking - no colour in them.
I'm not so sure I would have picked up Necroscope if the cover hadn't jumped out at me. A very superficial thing to say I know, but I am of the MTV generation I suppose.

I'm going to have to go with the majority here and say that like to the UK covers better, but either way I'll read the book.
As with Darkman I am cursious {I can't spell the bl**dly word} about what the avengers cover will look like.

In reply to Lord V.P.s question of what the Avengers cover will look like -
My guess is that a skull (or skulls) will figure in the design.
Not being petty (much) but I'm sure George will tonk Bob's cover as usual.

Enough of this US-v-UK and George & Bob prattle.
Have you seen the link on Foreign Books. There's some serious tasty art work on those covers.

Good move Moth! Personally I think they're all great... being in the UK I usually end up with UK covers, but it's quite a treat to stumble across a US cover in Forbidden Planet or wherever.
