I just read through the Foreword section of "A Coven of Vampires" and I just had to express how I was/am impressed that so many different sources were quoted as to having influences in The Master's life and writing style. smile.gif

It certainly brought back some memories for me of reading "Tales from the Crypt" and "Weird Tales". :D

In addition, I was not aware that Brian Lumley's big brother's name was Harry. I guess I know now where he got the name of our favorite Hero in the Necroscope series.

Great to see and Thank you for sharing that all with us Brian. I, for one, found it very intriguing and interesting to have shared in those moments from that part of your life.

I agree...

Forewards used to bore me, but now I read them with as much attention as the stories. There's so much you can learn about someone just by what they say in a Foreward. That was one of the best things about Fruiting Bodies...a Foreward about each individual story!

Even the stories themselves seem to me like a glimpse into BL's life. Quite a few of them are written in the first person and just seem to be about Him the whole time I'm reading them. Not many authors make me feel that way, even when they write in the first person! He's amazing. smile.gif

I can't say I've read the Weird Tales magazines, but I did watch Tales from the Crypt and am currently searching for I Am Legend. It seems somehow surreal to read something you know inspired your favorite author.

You wanna hear something funny? I saw that about His brother too...and thought nothing of it! Somehow I didn't make the connection at all!
