Hi well seeing as i'm new here i thought i'd ask you all what your a/s/l is that way i can get some idea of who i'm talking to.
I am 17/f/australia and love the necroscope series. i strted reading them a little bit ago and havn't been able to put them down. i've just finished reading 'deadspeak' and now have to wait for 'deadspawn' to arrive. God, i cant get across how much i love these books...especially Harry Keogh!! lol i love this guy he's awesome. wouldn't it just be the best to have all his talents?!?!
you know, i never even knew a site on brian Lumley existed until i stumbled onto this when i was looking up wamphyri on the net...talk about good luck.
so umm..yeah..whats your a/s/l everyone and also what do you like best about the series 'necroscope' oh and where are u all up to in it?
i hope i havn't raved on for too long...

I'm 23, male, and in Florida. I am new to the board too, but not the newsgroup. Looks much better without the spam. My favorite thing in the series is harry's powers, more specifically his mobius talents. I have read all of the necroscope series, including all world, lost years, invaders. I have also read the dreamworld series, some of it any way, as well as other books. Only book that turned me off was the psycho series. Maybe I will try it again....

Hi again...i was just reading through some posts and someone mentioned that 'necroscope' would be a great book for schools. well personally i dont think it would be. i'm in year 11 right now and i can tell you that no matter how amazing and superb this book is most teenagers wouldn't get into it. i'm not saying that i'm like special or anything cause i can read it but i have always been a great book reader instead of going out to parties and stuff and i have a lot of spare time. the thing with 'necroscope' is that it has long chapters and a heap of difficult words and phrases that are hard to follow. this simple fact is what would put a lot of school kids off. and the fact that it is a part of a 13 book series will definately put most people off.
apart from all that i always recommend the series to everyone i meet no matter how old they are..i like to brag about the book and its greatness lol
anyway, i dont know why i wrote all that but oh well, i guess i like voicing my opinion http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif

I'm 23/M/from Arizona. I used to read S. King when I was in Junior High, and I actualy thought he was good!! That was until I picked up a copy of Necroscope and it totally blew me away! Since then I've read pretty much everything from BL and I haven't been disappointed once! I've read some books from other authors too (R Frost, T Jordan, T Brooks are pretty good) and I even tried reading another King novel a few years ago, but I threw it away after a few hundred pages. It sucked!!! I can't believe I used to like his work! Anyway, BL's the best I've read by far, only he can combine Sci-Fi/Horror/Action/Fantasy and make it look so easy!

Goth Girl... bet you will post now. I am 31. As for the rest I am a male from Southern Maryland... Where we eat our young. http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif
The best thing about the Necroscope is after 10 books I want re-read them all before I start the 11th. I haven't found any other author good enough to read ten of their books, let alone twice.
Always new characters good and bad, always original twists, always stays close enough to Vampires of legends to make you believe Brian is writing about a vampire and not some invented creature.
I could go on and on and on...

Hope that you will keep on enjoying BL's works, and don't confine yourself to the Necroscopes, seek out the Titus saga & all the other Lovecraftian tie-ins, also the Psychomech trilogy, the short-stories... should I go on?
Have fun!!!

And let me tell you...it's very strange when you can jump in a car and drive thru the home town on BL. Then park up by the cemetary opposite the place where Harry lived with Brenda, take out the book from the glove box and be able to see the area where Harry should be talking to the dead.

I should be an expert on the Wamphyri . . . I have a college degree from Transylvania University. Although not vampire-related, here's a cool story about the school . . .
A one-time Transylvania University Biology professor, Constantine Rafinesque (http://www.smithsonianmag.si.edu/smithsonian/issues99/jan99/rafin.html), placed a curse on the school sometime before he died in 1840. He's entombed in a crypt in the basement of the administration building on campus. All kinds of weird goings-on at the university have been attributed to the curse. A tradition that was still practiced when I attended the school was to select a couple of students to spend Halloween night in the crypt with Rafinesque. In my third year at the university, I was selected, along with another fellow, Harley Warren, to spend the night in the crypt. Warren was smart enough to bring a flashlight, thankfully. Well, about 3am, Warren says he's going to go move the slab off the tomb and have a look-see. I, of course, stayed put next to the door (which was locked so I don't know why I thought this was a good idea). Anyway, Warren puts the flashlight down and I can hear the grating of the slab as Warren moves it aside. He then picks up the light and shines it down into the tomb. He then yells, "Pat, it's horrible - unbelievable!" I whispered, "What is it?" He yells again, "I can't tell you Pat! It's too utterly beyond thought - Great God! I never dreamed anything like this!" Well, at this point I was freaking out, so I yelled, "Warren, for the love of God, put back the slab!" Warren then screamed and dropped the flashlight. After a couple of seconds, I said "Warren?" No reply. Once again, I said, "Warren, are you OK?" Then, a hollow voice answers, "You fool, Warren is DEAD!" I must have passed out because the next thing I remember is being awakened by the groundskeeper the next morning. No trace of Warren was ever found.
OK. OK. Well, it's not entirely a lie . . . Everything is true (including the curse) up to my being picked to spend the night in the crypt and continuing through my pathetic rip-off of "The Statement of Randolph Carter".

I must be a mad man, when I said all of themose places I meant that I live in COventry, but would also like to be in London (i spend a lot of time there as my immediate family are there.......). Sunderland you ask is one of my fav places (I know, it's a shit hole!) and as most of my close friends live there it is my second home. Does that explain that I am not really that busy.... although work and stuff..... I could go on forever, but time aint what it used to be...................
My favourite Lumlian character would have to be Henri-Laurent DeMarigny, he is class and saves the universe as well, I always found Crow to be a little too arogant for my liking. Love the vampire stuff as well as it was this that go tme into bri in the first place.
