Ok, curiosity is calling..

If you had the chance to speak to Brian and ask only ONE question..what would it be?

I would ask him what his imagination was like during childhood. Mine was pretty vivid, I suppose that was from doing alot of reading and what they now call 'Role Playing' as a child. We always got together and pretended we were from other lands, or were fierce creatures, etc. Whatever struck our fancy or was read that particular week.

I have no idea.... talk about a tough question.

Well, I think maybe I would ask him if he gets stoned before he writes... I think he would have to be to come up with some of his stuff. Just kidding about that, of course http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif

It would be totally awesome to burn one with Brian...

Hail Master!

Greetings...I am Emaleth's..um..evil..no, she's the evil one..ok..I am her GOOD twin, so that means I can also ask a question of the Master. :-P

I would ask..(if he ever gets the chance to do this that is)..what book he would take off of his bookshelf and bring out to the garden to read for himself.

If I could ask Lumley one question I'd probably ask him why he's ending the series, or if not that I'd ask him something about the Wamphyri like which one is your favorite and why.

I suppose I'd ask, 'How did you manage to keep an active imagination and find the time to write whilst you were an MP?'

Either that, or 'Where in the world did you get the idea for the Leech?'

But then again, authors get asked all the time Where do you get your ideas from?, and there is nothing in the world I want to do less than peeing BL off...

Hey Krynus Wrong terminology for token with BL. I am assuming thats what you mean.

I think I'd ask where he got the names of the old Wamphyri, from Starside and earth. Like Faethor, I've never heard some of those names before.

Dragutin, in the FAQ section is the answer to your question...

9. HOW MUCH RESEARCH WENT INTO THE NECROSCOPE NOVELS?

A hell of a lot! Locations, historical and current events, you name it. Almost all the alien (Wamphyri) names are culled from real names, tribes, that lived in and around the Romanian regions.

Thats where the names came from...Have a good day! :) ...

I've read that part. I wanted a more in depth answer to the question. My name hails from that region as well and it might give me a way or an idea of how to look for it's origins as well.

Ulterior Motives and such!!!

Dragutin, I checked with this link...

Ancestry.Com (http://www.ancestry.com/)

And they had a Dragutin some are looking for, you might want to try researching in Yugoslavia for that name, if you are interested.

Other than that, just do a search on the web, or better yet, go to the library, you can ask the Reference Librarian for help as well and they will also look on the web for you.

Perhaps too Brian might one day delve more into how he did his own research, but that would only be up to The Master himself.

I would like to know how far ahead Brian thinks when writing his Necroscope books... When he starts his books, does he know how he wants them to end, what twists will happen, what loose ends he'll tie up, and which he'll leave for his next book; or does it just come naturally?

I am in awe of the twists, cliff hangers, and the way the story has lived through eleven stories without falling flat at some point.

Thanks Emaleth, My search will begin soon. I hate not thinking of using the web to do research. I've been on the web for 5 years and it's still not easy to get used to thinking it contains everything or just about. I do use it to research a lot of stuff but sometimes it is not the first thing I think of.

Good luck Dragutin, and I still say, the best bet would be to hit the library, especially if you have a good Reference Librarian to help you search.
