Ahhhh Halloween... the last night of the year that witches, warlocks and wamphyri can be abroad... before the next one. HAH (Try telling a Wamphyri Lord or Lady that they have to stay in bed on November 1st.)
Any Halloween costume enthusiasts out there?
I've taken on many personas including The Blob, the Wolfman, Frankenstein, the Joker, Two-Face, a Zombie, and most recently, a Lord of the Wamphyri. What costumes have you other Lumlians donned in the past?

Being a follower of the Wiccan way, Halloween or Samhain as it's known here in Scottish Celtic circles is a great celebration of the close of the year. It's my favourite pagan holiday http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif
I just love dookin for apples(head in the water not over the back of a chair with a fork). Dressing up as a witch is just another day to me. cackle cackle cackle!

On Halloween, it's traditional in the North East of the UK to wander the streets alone, carrying naught but a hollowed out turnip for defence (remember Pumpkins are NOT native in the UK) in a vain attempt to illicit money/chocolate from complete strangers. Scary.
It seems to me that in America , Halloween has been somewhat sanitised. I may be wrong. I’m sure someone will correct me if I am. A time for celebration, parties, dressing up and festival. I‘m not into that.
I try to preserve a little of the spookiness and try to remember/reflect on how scared I was when I was a kid. A time for fear, when monsters were ‘more real’. Perhaps the festival of Halloween is the equivalent of whistling in the dark.
Childhood; A wonderful time. I can smell the turnip cooking from the candle as I type. A time when the darkness is palpable. Now that I'm 'not so young' (euphemism), I mark Halloween by reading books by candle light into the wee hours. It's the only time of the year that I burn candles. Last year I was reading 'Isis Unveiled'. Not that I'm into the occult...

Halloween huh!. I've never dressed up, Never been trick or treating. I have however been wandering round the woods at about Midnight with a load of freinds in a big conspiracy to scare the hell out of one of the group http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif. fake weegee( I have no Idea how to actual spell it http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/frown.gif..) boards, pentagrams carved in trees and the like.
that was a long time ago though. 31st October is now just an excuse to go clubbing and chat up girlies wearing PVC witch suits and then watch the Crow again http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif

You mean that I'm NOT supposed to dress up the rest of the year?
OK, looks like I'm gonna have to get some varnish remover! http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/tongue.gif
Then again - maybe not! http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Dressing as I do all year, about three weeks before Hallowe'en, I get heckles of "It's not Hallowe'en yet luv" and for about three weeks afterward it's "Hallowe'en's gone now" Grrr!

I do my white tiger cat suit dress up quite a bit. I live near enough to Disney that I've affiliated with a bunch of folks that have character suits and we do events for children, for organizations like "Give kids the World" and " Make a Wish" I have a ball doing that. Sometime we go bowling with a bunch of kids or just visit events like Special Olymics.
but Halloween is my favorite holiday. I am not Wiccian (yet) but I do have my own private ceremony and light my special candles and such. I've gone Vamp for 12 years now on that night and with this year being the 13th I'm gonna to go all out. I don't know how much more I can get into it, I've won all the costume contests for 4 years now. *L* I've pickedan Anne Rice Vamp to be every year. Last year I was Jesse and quite a few folkd "got it." I was stunned. This year maybe I'll do the Queen of the Damned herself, Akasha.

I have to say halloween is fun, the best costume I ever wore was when I dressed up as a mad sciencist blood all over my face and down my lab coat I really looked the part, the people in the shops thought I was a little weird running down the street cover in blood. The only problem was that the blood turned the labcoat pink, and that just isn't my color. I had to wear it like that for a month before I could get the stuff out, which was fun.

I like Halloween but I'm afraid I'm with Roy Wood and Wizzard and "I wish it could be Christman everyday"
Quite partial to Slade as well.
