How long?

I was wondering how long this most excellent of web sites has been up? I seem to remember seeing it back in '96 or '97, is that around the time when it started up? It didn't have the messageboard, but it did have cool sound effects (creaking door opening), at least I think it did. Am I right, close to right, or a complete idiot? Does anyone else remember what the site was like back in the day?

I think it was under a different site address way back when as well. How about it Shadoe? Is that right? I seem to remember something like that.
