View Full Version : Who'll play Harry?

I don't know about you guys but for me the first five Necroscope books were the best. Brian gave his character real depth, and made the reader feel for him. Harry got a raw deal from life and it was never made any easier by his involvement with E-Branch.
He ended up a young man in an older body posessing wisdom and knowledge well beyond his years. He could be angry as hell and cold as ice, but my real question is this, if there was a Necroscope film who'd play Harry? I read all of Anne Rices books and while Cruise was excellent as Lestat, he still did not do him justice.

Blonde hair... Blue eyes... Starts off young... oh my God - NOT MAKAULEY CULKIN!

I could handle Culkin, it would be worth it just to see him be shot by Dragosani!

How about Dani Filth?

I think that if Giles (Nestcafe ads) from Buffy the Vampire got a face lift and died his hair he just might pull it off. That only leaves the question of who would play Alec!!?!

I have a great idea for who can play Harry Keogh/Alec Kyle. David Duchony. For the younger Harry I think Jonathan Scarfe (He did a short stint On ER as Dr. Carters junkie cousin) as the young Harry Keogh.

I noticed everyone is fixated on who will play Harry. I'd like to make some suggestions for the other characters.
Anthony Edwards (ER) or David Hyde Pierce (Frasier) as Darcy Clark, Brad Renfro (Apt Pupil) as Yulian Bodescu, Ian Mclellan (Apt Pupil again) as Ladislau Girescu, Russell Crowe (LA Confidential) as Boris Dragosani, Sir Richard Attenborough as Sir Keenan Gormley, Timothy Dalton (The latest James Bond) as Jazz Simmons, Mira Sorvino as Zek Foener, Liam Neeson (Star Wars : Episode One) as Shathis, if it's an animated version Tim Curry (Clue) as the voice of Faethor Ferenczy or Shatain in the live action version, Gillian Anderson (The X-files) as the Lady Karen and BD Wong (Jurassic Park) as David Chung.
If it makes it as far as Vampire World here are some suggestions for the players in that.
Matt Damon (The Talented Mr. Ripley) as Nathan Kiklu-Keogh, Ben Affleck (Dogma) as Nestor Kiklu-Lichloathe, Robbie Coltrane (Cracker) as the older Ben Trask, Famke Jansen (The upcoming X-men movie) as Lady Wratha.

Yes I have no life but I got some more inspirations. Robert Caryle (Trainspotting) or Alan Cumming (I recently saw him in the film adaptation of William Shakesperes "Titus") as Geoffery Paxton and Colm Feore (Face/Off) or Christopher Walken as Vormulac

Well, it is about time someone mentioned Chris Walken. I think he would be great in just about any part of a Necroscope Movie. However, he has already played the precog. So let's give him something else.

I got to thinking about it and here are some new suggestions; Robert Caryle as the young Ben Trask, Alan Cumming as Geoffery Paxton (Trust me, he's perfectly suited to the part), Christopher Walken as Vormulac, and Colm Feore as Gorvi the Guile.

I don't know if anyone has thought about this one in particular. But, if they were to do the vamp world and include, which is one of my favorite parts, the Nightmare Zone, how about Steve Buscemi(sp??) as Todd Prentiss. He could play that weasels part perfectly.
I cannot say I would think Chris Walken would make a good Wamphyri, although I will admit im not a huge fan, but he is a decent actor.
How about Glen Danzig as Canker, he needs a good movie role, considering he was shut out of playing Wolverine in the X-men movie, a role I thought he would have been perfect in.

Actually I think that Steve Buscemi might be good as Paxton.

Here are some more suggestions; While I think that David Hyde Pierce would make a superb Darcy Clark they will likely need someone younger. From what I have seen of his work on the show "Stark Raving Mad:, and I know I'm going to catch heat for this, I think that Neil Patrick Harris would be perfectly suited to play Darcy.
I also have another suggestion for who could play Harry before he acquires Alec Kyle's body, Josh Leonard (The Blair Witch Project). Give him a hair cut and a shave and there you go.

Those are some great suggestions. I would like to see the role of Harry (2nd Body) go to Campbell Scott("Dying Young" with Julia Roberts, and "Singles"). He is a great actor and he fits the role good enough. Sharon Stone as Zek, because she has the looks and the body, she's a good actress and she is mature enough to play the role. Catherine Zeta Jones or Salma Hayak for Misha, that one is a tough call. They would both make great gypsy women. Tom Cruise, NO, PLEASE, NO. I think they should bring in someone new and fresh to play Nathan, someone little known to give the effect of mystery and innocence.

I agree about Paul McGann as Harry and although I'm not a fan Catherine Zeta Jones could look a cracking Wratha , and I rather like Anne Perilaud she would be sublime as any one of the ladies (Her cv checks out fine ) anyone seen Innocent blood

I agree with Luna, an unknown would be better for Nathan and Nestor both, and NO Tom Cruise, or the Home Alone Kid either..in ANY part :-| Yay Christopher Walken would be perfect! As any of the Wamphyri Lords, he is that good of an actor to play and be any of them. Hmm, what about Adrian Paul?? He would make a fine Gypsy :-> Of course he looks divine in a kilt too..Oie Ok Ema...mind outta the gutter :-

I think Harry (pre-Alec) should be played by James Spader (jackson in Stargate). Thats how I always visualized Harry.

How about William H. Macy as Darcy Clarke? Or has somebody said that already?
Let's face it, he can play the part of a insecure fella' like nobody else... and he can act...
...As for whoever suggested David Duchovney for ANY part, shame on you, the only part he should play is the tree the young Ferenzy made his way up to spawn Dragosani!!!

As most seem to agree Harry would have to be an unknown. However, the leader of the sci-fi series The LEgacy would be the perfect actor to play Alec Kyle. Check him out!

I believe that kid that played in 6th Sense would be good for the young Harry. Then maybe Michael Flatley (Lord of the Dance/River Dance) as later and then Christopher Walken as the older Harry. Just a thought. The kid that played in 6th Sense has the right stuff for that kind of part, kinda lonely, insecure, gifted that haunted look. Then Michael Flatley, as he could pass for Harry during his teens and up to the time when he took on the other body. That is where Christopher Walken could come in as Christopher Walken has that more mature haunted, eerie, presence on film.

Hi,
Well, we agree on that!! Cool! As for Geoffrey <sp?> , actually I think he would do good for Harry and have Christopher Walken as Dragosani!!! The man pulls off eerie with a capital E!! He's almost the new generation Vincent Price...don't get me wrong, NO ONE can replace Vincent Price!! But Christopher is getting really close to it as for eerie, haunted, possibility of total evil...that kind of thing.

*apologies in advance*
I think No-One should play Harry (I'm sitting in the No Necroscope Films Camp waving a flag that says 'Remember Battlefield Earth)
But if it came to:
I like the sound of Christopher Walken as Harry/Alec, with hopefully some unknown British actor for Harry prior to 'death'.

Artemis You can talk Dogma as until I go deaf. That film was absolutely fantastic.
