Ehlana - it actually was a big thread in here but something happened to it. I'm not sure what and I'm waiting to here from Veriatus about that exact subject. Regardless, no one seems to get bored talking about castings for some reason - go figure. http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif

Ehlana not to open up a whole can of worms of any actors from anytime, But I think a young Kirk Douglas would have been a good Lardis. I just saw him in a movie today and since I am finishing up Blood Brothers it dawned on me he had the face that went with the character I had in mind.

Ok..I had to cut & paste since I do freely admit to having mind blanks...hmmm...
Christopher Walken - Wamphyri (Malinari?)
*He would make a great Lord..whichever one*
Paul McGann - Alec Kyle/Harry
*Doesn't recognize this one*
Robson Green - Harry (pre-Alec)
*Ditto*
Richard E. Grant - Darcy Clarke
*No..sorry, too thin and he doesn't have the 'goodness' that Darcy had..I don't think he would be able to pull it off*
Rutger Hauer - Wamphyri (Belath? Volse?)
*Good choice..he would also do very well as Canker too*
Christopher Lee - Wamphyri (voice of Faethor?)
*Either him or Sean Connery..although..cripes..see?? Mind blank..the one who played darth Vader..his voice*
Jeri Ryan - Devetaki
*hmm..this one or Karen*
Jodie Foster - Lady Karen
*likes her acting..doesn't see her as a gypsy type though*
Garret Wang - David Chung
*Good one*
Anthony Hopkins - Wamphyri (Vormulac?)
*Yes, this would work*
Ewan McGregor - someone in Ebranch
*ok*
Robert Carlyle - Janos
*??*
Mark Addy - Ben Trask
*ditto..I really need to stop reading books and see more movies..not*
Liam Neeson - Wamphyri (Fess Ferenc?)
*Yes..that would work*
Sean Connery - Keenan Gormley
*Argh..not this one..I would rather him play Darcy. Keenan was a jerk*
Marina Sirtis - Wratha
*Gypsy look yes..but too short..the one who playes in that show Providence would be better..but then again..it might just work*
I have added my useless two cents worth. Now if we were talking about literary characters to play the parts, then that would be a different story. Of course when the movie does come out..I will just have to dish out the 20 bucks to see it! :-D
Drats ..forgot about Lardis..I'll have to get back to you on that one...yes..another mind blank..so sue me.. :-|

I would like to apologize to everyone for the deletion of the original topic string about Casting. I meant to clean up some of the earlier ones, but I started with the first. When you do that it deletes the entire string. I am sorry. I thought by reposting the original question, I could keep this going. It won't happen again...

Emaleth,
James Earl Jones was the voice of Darth Vader.
If it was possible I think Brian Glover would have been great as Lardis.
I'll have to have a think about the rest.

For Wratha what about Salma Hayek - gypsy like and she played a vampire in Dusk Till Dawn, the only problem would be the skin colour but makeup would take care of that.
By the way who is Jeri Ryan?
I thought the blonde from Cocktail (cant remember her name) would play Lady Karen well, what do you think?
Symon
February 13th, 2000, 08:13 PM
Jeri Ryan is the borg crewmember on star trek Voyager, I reakon she would be perfect as Siggi. Elizabeth Shue was the girl from Coctails if I remember correctly. But what about the actress who played Sonya Blade in the Mortal Kombat movie as lady Karen?
Jazz

I have a couple of suggestions for an actress to play Misha. I think that either Rachel Leigh Cook (She's All That) or Shannon Elizabeth (American Pie) would be perfect for the part. They are both very gypsyish (Especially Rachel.

Patrick
February 22nd, 2000, 05:41 PM
OK, Here are my suggestions.
Harry - Stephen Tomkinson
Dragosani - Jean Reno
Yulian - Johnny Depp
Canker Canison -Billy Connolly
Nana Kiklu - Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio
Nestor - Liam Neeson
Nathan - Christopher Ecclestone
Misha - Salma Hayek
Maglore - Christopher Walken
Vormulac - Anthony Hopkins
Wratha - Catherine Zeta Jones
Lady Karen - Nicole Kidman
Wran the Rage - Kiefer Sutherland
Spiro - Jason Patric
Devataki - Glenn Close
Gorvi - Ray Liotta
Lardis - Bob Hoskins
Jazz Simmons - Robert Carlyle
Zek Foener - Julia Roberts
Shaitis - Gary Oldman
Fess Ferenc - Arnie
I've not thought about any of the characters of E-Branch, so I can't suggest anyone. But I would find roles for Richard E Grant, Jodie Foster(poss. Millicent Cleary), Christopher Lee, Ewan Mcgregor, Dervla Kirwan(poss. Harrys wife).
Jazz
February 23rd, 2000, 12:29 AM
First things first, Liam Neeson is pushing 50 and Christopher Eccleston has to be in his late 40ies at least. That's WAY too old for Nathan and Nestor. In the "Who'll Play Harry" section I suggested Matt Damon as Nathan and Ben AFfleck as Nestor.
Also I think that another potential Misha could be Mena Suvari (American Pie & American Beauty)
Rashagoth

I think I've found the Lady Karen. Alicia Witt, I saw a photo spread she did in the last issue of "Stuff" magazine (Yes I know I should be ashamed of myself for reading it)
But she has the red hair, she's beautiful, and of course, has a killer figure.

February 26th, 2000, 11:03 PM
I'm sorry I disagree with most of these suggestions. Am I the only one that remembers that the average Wamphyri is 7 feet tall and up wards of 300 pounds?
It's my opinion that there should be no Necroscope movie, they'd just mess it up and compact it. You can't turn a 7500 page series into a 2 hour movie.
Veriatus

*Throws her hand up with Ehlana's on the vote for Van Damme* You have to have someone in the film for the ladies to goggle at now don't you...
*also looks for Sean Connery in the movie* Ahhhhhh..umm, can a Kilt be written in the story as well????

From all the interviews I've read and seen with him I think that Ewan MAcgregor would be perfectly suited to play Jazz. He strikes me as being very quick witted and a real smart ass and based on his performance in "The Phantom Menace" he could portray the zombie Jazz in "The Last Aerie" perfectly.
As for Van Damme, see "Provisioning Stars"
Finally, if anyone suggests Leonardo Di-Crap-io as pre-Alec Harry or Nathan I want them BANNED imediately. Of course seeing him getting blown away by Dragosani would be fun. His death scene in "Titanic" keeps getting better and better

Remy--->Good suggestion but let's keep in mind the fact that pre-Alec Harry is in his early twenties. I suggested Jonathan Scarfe to play him and David Duchovny as Alec/Harry.
I'd also like to suggest Ray "Darth Maul" Park as Lom Halfstruck.
I've also noticed that the world of the Necroscope is incredibly white bread. Even though it would mean taking liberties with the book, i'd like to suggest Wesely Snipes as Jake Cutter.

I already discussed this in the "Who'll play Harry" section but I figured I'd try to get the topic going again. Who do you think would make a better Geoffery Paxton ? Alan Cumming or Steve Buscemi. My vote goes to Cumming. I saw him in the recent adaptation of Shakespere's "Titus". He was so SLIMY. I think he would be perfect to play Paxton.

OK, great to see I got some people interested in debating one of the parts. OK, here's another one. Who do you think would be good to play Misha I suggested either;
A)Rachel Leigh Cook
B)Shannon Elizabeth
C)Mena Suvari
or
D)An unknown
My vote goes for A. Ms. Cook's features are very gypsyish and I think she would be ideal for the part. However B, Ms. Elizabeth has the figure for it. Any one agree ? Disagree ?

There is ONE actor whose name keeps popping up in the mention of casting for Wamphyri roles.
Christopher Walken is ACE!!!
Top actor and HE HAS to be in it as a vicious Lord - I don't care which one as long as he is there somewhere!!

<font color=006600>Too right! Chris Walken can play a viscious little bugger with his eyes shut...
It's only a shame that Jeremy Brett died (the one who played Sherlock Holmes in the '80s ITV series), he would have made an outstanding Dragosani...
And how about that Di Caprio fella? Not a big part (pun intended) just a character that gets mutilated for no other reason than he deserves it!</font>

In all honest truth i don't much agree with any of these suggestions.
I do however agree that certain of these choice actors should be in the movie should there ever be one made.
My first choice for Nestor would have to be Ewan. All throught the novel i pictured Nestor as being of the same likeness as him.
Also i think that Sean Connery would make a perfect Turkur.
As for the Whamphyri lets try not to forget that all of them stood well over 7 feet tall and wieghed in at at least 300lbs.
We all know that wrestlers can't act.

well my lord Shaithis,

The only thing worse than Keanu is Keanu trying to act.
There is no room on this earth for "Woh..dude" let alone on Sunside/Starside.

I've seen all the trailers for "American Psycho" and I don't care who he plays but they would have to find a part for Christian Bale. He's about the right age so I'd like to suggest him as either Dragosani or Alec Kyle/Harry Keogh.
Also, I think that Angelina Jolie would be good to play one of the ladies. Either Karen or Wratha or Vavvara. I think she would make a SMOKIN' lady.

I finally saw "American Beauty" over the weekend and I actaully think that Mena Suvari would be better suited to play Orlea.
Speaking of people in that movie does anyone think that there could be a part for Kevin Spacey ? I can't picture him as a vampire so how's about someone in E-branch ?

John Goodman might actually not be a bad idea at all. Sure hes had some goofy roles in the past but the guy can actually act.
Kevin spacey would most likly fit in as someone from E-Branch, perhaps ian, ot=r evn as a ben trask

The Necroscope Series is excellent movie material. After reading just one book, I couldn't rest until I had read them all. By the time I read Resurgence I was well and truly hooked.
I have to put some thought into who I think should play whom but definately the director and the screen play would have to be true to series.
I watch a lot of Sci-Fi and the series would fit in quite well there. Sci-Fi has created some very decent series i.e. Farscape is the only one I can think of right now but it's pretty decent. Of course all series diverge from the original format and some eventually make it back and are better for the divergence.
But the Necroscope Series would fit in there. I agree, it is to long for feature movies but on television and channel that is totally dedicated to the advancement of Sci Fi is the way to go.

Ideally, I'd rather see nobody I recognize in it because that would distract attention away from the character and onto the actor. But if it had to be, Roy Scheider with a British accent would be a fine Ben Trask.
And I agree, Jeremy Brett would've been fine as just about any bad guy, but he's already stone dead.

In regard to Keannu Reeves, he could play any of the Wamphyri "men" but I see him as Nestor for some reason. The gypsy like quality he sends out in his acting would be a plus.

Hello all.I have been reading your comments and i think that Anthony HOppiks would be the best for Lardis.I also thought about Mel Gibson.I would think that he would be a good Ben.as for others i'm still thinking and doing some research. LIke alot of you said it should not be full of faces that everyone knows.BUt some of them should ,so that things would look like thats the wayit has always been .

I just watched "The Matrix" again and I've rethought some of my casting suggestions. Here they are
Alec/Harry - David Duchovny or Christian Bale
Dragosani - Hugo Weaving

As for my first post, I would make sure no norwegian actors got in on this, but I would definatly like to see Swedens Peter Stormare as one of the Wampyri. He was great as the wicked director in 8mm and he sure as hell branched off Steve Buscemi in Fargo.
