Seeing as some movies are SO BAD you just HAVE to enjoy 'em (well maybe it's only me so I thought I'd ask): What are your favourites in this category?

Mine? Well, I saw some of them (sadly) in the 'bad movies' thread so maybe it IS just me http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/wink.gif ... here goes:

Blade
The Frighteners
Evil Dead III: Army of Darkness
all the Friday the 13th films
The Ultimate Warrior

A film from 1987 called "Trick Or Treat." It's a teeny bopper/Halloween/rock 'n' roll film about a dead heavy metal legend who returns to wreak havoc. I can't remember who stars in it, but Gene Simmons and Ozzy Osbourne make cameos. Stupid as can be, but fun anyway.

And the Evil Dead series, as well.

LOL, the Evil Dead series, definitely the topper for this category... I gotta say I enjoyed the hell out of Army of Darkness, that movie was just hilarious. My throat was so sore from laughing after watching that.

How about Dead Alive? Your UN-typical zombie movie, if you haven't seen it I suggest renting it. The gore in it is just unbelievable. You simply have to see it at least once.

Dead by Dawn! Dead by Dawn!

I'll swallow your soul!!!

Yes, the Evil Dead, and its spawn are the headliners for the most-cheesy-their-good catagory. Especially the kool-aid blood, the 50 gallons of it!

I vaguely remember seeing a really dodgy vampire/spag western spoof years ago, called something like Vampires in Sundown the Retreat (so bite me if I'm wrong!). Was absolutely dreadful, but funny too!

Well...

I have to agree, the Evil Dead Movies are just COOL!

ALL the Friday the 13th ones are just so bad I Love em (By the way, in the 1st or second one, can't remember which, KEVIN BACON was one of the dudes who was murdered, by Mr Jason, or his mum can't remember)

It's sad though, I'm a "B" movie fan so it's hard to think of one in particular...

Hey, I remeber that scene with Kevin Bacon...

He was laying in a hammock, waiting for his girl who, of course, was in the hammock above him, already dead.

Jason's hand clamped on his face and the knife came up, from underneath, and poked through his chest...

One of the best scenes in any of the Friday movies, though I am biased because I can't stand Kevin Bacon and love seeing him get axed (or knifed) http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif

Incidentally, that's the only reason I haven't seen Hollow Man, 'cause he is in it, even if you don't really 'see' him.

Howdy Krynus, and yes..dont see Hollow Man, I heard it sucked hard. There was a movie called Dark Star. British film I think in the late 70's. About a bunch of guys on a doomed space ship. It was super cheesy but funny.

Evil Dead - yeah, I'll give you that one.
Razor Blade Smile - I thought this was absolute crap (cheesy or not) until the end THEN it qualified for chhesy-but-cool
Blade - Possibly the worst vampire performances ever but the sword sequences are second only to Phantom Menace (sorry folks!)
But the WORST EVER! has got to be a 'cut-to-f***' version of EVIL SPEAK that I picked up in Brighton this year for a mate, A woman actually gets eaten alive by PIGS! Yes, THIS HAPPENS! Oh the Horror!

I seem to be the only person who actually liked Blade, especially as the bad vamp was gorgeous, I can't remember who the actor was, it's been ages since I saw the movie. (Ahem, of course all you males out there probably didn't put that in the equation)

Also everyone seems to have forgotten the oldies and the best, all of the Hammer Horror films and all the old Boris Karloff, Vincent Price, Bela Logosi movies, they were melted cheeeeesy but I loved each and every one. Oh and whats that vamp movie made by and staring, I think Roman Polanski (not sure if I have the right person), that was funny. Where he is the old vamp slayer with his young side kick who is fancied by the young vamp lord http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif really cheesy and silly.

I could go on for ever with these old movies. Especially anything with Christopher Lee in it. But don't worry, I won't.

I shall have to agree with Army of Darkness. It's been stuck in my collection for years, only watched it the once.

I also liked Blade...But I'm a bit of a Snippes fan.

I would like to hear anyone's opinion of "Meet The Feebles". This is one film I can watch at anytime for a laugh

The Muppets with a twist.

Have to side with Katie and go for the Britsh Hammer Horror films.

From an impressive list of bad but good films from that studio, the one I'd go for is Pyschhomania.

A really Bobbins motorbike gang horror film. Watched it a few weeks ago though I don't know why. LOL

Katie,
That Vampire was Stephen Dorff (although I can't say that he's gorgeous, mind) and I think the Movie you mean is The Fearless Vampire Hunters (or is it Slayers?).
Army of Darkness is a cool one I think, It's meant to be cheesy like Evil Dead 1&2 although I have to admit that doing a 15 Rated film after 2 18's is a bit of a let down.
As for Psychomania, who ever thought you'd see Beryl Reed in a 'Horror Movie' ROCKTASTIC!
Oh, and am I the only person who had to stifle laughs throughout The Exorcist? (it only seemed fair, I was in the cinema...). That stuff's no scarier than the Omen.

Oh, KRYNUS:
I hate Kevin Bacon too, and there's nothing I'd like better than to see him get 'kebabbed' but I went to see Hollowman and it's very good.
Yes, because you don't see him for half of it but when you can't see his strange face, you realise what a good actor he is (am I saying this?) and secondly because it's just a modern version of The Invisible Man - a classic in anmybody's book.

I love both Meet the Feebles and The Frighteners..maybe they're a bit silly but I wouldn't call them bad! Check out Bad Taste and Dead Alive (Braindead in most countries other than the US) for more of the same kind of fun from Jackson. Or check out Heavenly Creatures for a complete departure.

I saw Trick or Treat, that one is great for this category. I think Slumber Party Massacre is another gem of sorts!

Yeah, Kevin Bacon got a spear through his throat from Jason's mother in the first Friday the 13th.

I really enjoy the Hammer films, wouldn't consider them bad...

Willaim Castle's films are great for this kind of fun, most of them have (or atleast had in the 50s) a cool gimmick...great party movies!

If you like "so bad it's fun" check out The Car and Tower of Evil.

Yeah, Razor Blade Smile was pretty disappointing...no fun to be had there!

Goth Girl - I'll have to keep my eyes open for the vampire movie you mentioned...I can't get enough of that kind of thing...Vampyres (the spanish movie) is good fun if you watch it with a grain of salt!
Psychomania was GREAT!!!!!

I watched Stargate the other night with me' lass. I can't think what made be buy it 'cos I was disapointed at the pictures.
Anyway, when you ignore all the Star Wars and Indiana Jones rip-offs and the general cheeseyness of the film, it's actually not a bad movie. Thus, I'm wondering if I'm going to enjoy Independence Day when it's on this Xmas, 'cos that was just embarrasing at the time.

I might get lynched for saying this, but that kids movie, The Little Vampire...was actually pretty good. Don't go into it too seriously or anything, but if you have children to watch it with, it's worth it for a few chuckles.

Ahhhhhhhhh!! Vampire cows!! Run!! http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif

Personally I think the movie of Buffy the Vampire slayer was just awful!! Although I have to confess I've become a bit of a fan of the series of late... oh, and Angel too http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif
However it's just as well Brian made his Vampires a bit harder to kill than the TV ones.. Staking them to dust would make some pretty short stories!! http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Oh BTW the Stargate TV series is also better than the film, I think.. does anyone else find this happens a lot?
(Methinks I should be starting a new thread with this question really..) http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif

Oh.. while I remember.. I saw bits of a Vampire movie on TV the other night, I don't remember much about it (mainly because I was channel hopping and tired) but I do remember Lance Henrikson (spelling.. ack!) was in it..

I agree, all the evil dead films are so bad, you just have to like them. DONT watch john Carpenters Vampires that film really sucks.
The best vamp film of recent years was FROM DUSK TILL DAWN, i think it starred George Clooney( but don't let that put you off )it's a good laugh with loads of blood.

deano, i would have to disagree. The best vamp film recently would have to be BLADE. i never really considered from dusk to dawn to be vampire film its more like an attention grabbing plot change to improve a road movie type film.

John carpenters vampires wasnt too bad either. You could see similarities to E-Branch in the first 30mins but then the film just goes down hill. Lacks a fundimental importance i.e. a good plot!!!

But then again we are all welcome to our own opinions... http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif

re evil dead, all the films rock. The evil dead 2 was on UK tv a few weeks ago and it was quite a suprise to see it again. If it werent for these films we would have eternal great lines like:

"old double barrel's going to blow you butt to kingdom come!" http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif

"groovy"

"Give me some sugar baby"

What i enjoy in the third film is the satire and humour with the 2 alternative endings. There was one for the cinema and one for the video release. Ash's face when he over sleeps and wakes up post armageddon is pure genius.

What was that film about an Australian 'killer pig'?

I think it was called "Razor-Back"... erm that was pretty bad in a good way.

If "Jaws" was a pig... I'm sure you get the drift.

Oh, and the film about the giant killer rabbits... erm, "night of the 'something or other'" (sorry, my memory fails me). I was so shocked that someone managed to get investment for a movie like that, that I almost bust a gut laughing...

Damn it! I can't remember what it was called.

"Night of the Lupins"..., something like that. Lots of close-ups of rabbits on minaturised sets, with red sauce smeared over there rabbid chops! Hee, hee!

Wish I could remember what it was called. Bah.

"Night of the Lepus"! (Lepus, of course Latin for 'rabbit'. Doh!).

I guess "Night of the Rabbits", just isn't blood curdling enough. (heh!).

God bless Lady Susan for putting me out of my misery! Starring Deforest Kelley (bless his soul). "Bones" vs the giant bunnies. Absolutely surreal.

Thanks, Sue!

I'd have to side with Deano on one part Vampires(John Carpenter)was actually good enough to buy the video but James Woods SUCKED!!!! I think they could of found someone who could fit the part better and act better. As for Blade Im a Marvel comics fan and the movie was great. The soundtrack was awesome..I thought Wesley Snipes did a good job as Blade. Can't wait for the sequel. The original Dracula starring Bela Lugosi has to be one of my all-time favorites.I was about six when I woke up at 12am and snuck into my brothers room to watch "Creature Feature". Needless to say it creeped me out. I became a Universal Monster fan. last but not least the Hammer films were great. :D

It has to be 'Bad Taste' and ' Brain Dead'. Two of the ultimate sick, but laughable films. Army of Darkness, more of a comedy.

Blade as stated excellent sword work, Buffy who cares cause she looks good, though I prefer her friend the witch, whose name I can't remember. You know the one in 'American Pie'.
