Greetings everyone. I've recently gotten permission from Brian and Silky to use the necroscope series as the theme for an online game. I've decided to go with a Mush (Multi User Shared Habitation), which is a RolePlaying Text game. Most of the code I'm doing myself, however I'll soon need people to make the actual worlds. This is where you guys come in.. If you know nothing at all about how to do this, I'll teach you.. I'll also be needing a few staff and a few people to spew out ideas :P This is all for free and NO money will be made off this project. As of now, I'm going to keep developing here at home and sometime towards the middle to end of December I'll move it to a place where everyone can work on it.. Does everyone think this would be a good thing to get involved with? Imagine, you finally get to roleplay being a Wamphyri, member of E-branch or even a Trog.. If you want to discuss this off the list, E-mail me at michael.robinson@wcom.com

I totally agree, just let us know what's involved

Fair enough http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/smile.gif You can spend as much or as little time as you want.. As far as giving definate numbers, that's up to the person who's making the worlds. You guys would be making starside, london and a few other locations in between.. If you remember a favorite scene in any of the books, then it's more than welcome in the game. All the tools that you'd need (aside from an active imagination) are already built into the game. I've seen some people give as little as a half hour a day and as much as several hours every day. Sorry I can't be more specific, but it really is dependant on the individual.. I plan on spending several hours each day on this project, and quite a bit of time on weekends.

Just a quick note to anyone who's interested. I've decided to move my date up for making this a public project. Today I got a server and sometime tommorow I'll have everything up and running. Once I have the address I'll give it to you guys and if you need instructions on how to connect to a mush, I'll give that out as well. Thanks so much for everyone's response so far... And I thank the future developers and Brian and Silky for giving me this chance!

Well, I've gotten the server up and running..

You can telnet to it at necroscope.betterbox.net 4201

Most people use SimpleMU (Don't remember the site to grab it from) or a plain text telnet session. If you feel like stopping by this weekend I'll be there coding my heart out!

See you guys soon.

Not bad, not bad... looks like you have a good deal of work to do (hehe). Don't count on me to help in building, as I have my own projects in the works, but I can give pointers from time to time. Mostly posted this so Torvash will have access to my email address.

Torvash,

I would like to help you out. If you think I can be of assistance, ask away.

By the way, good luck in the project

I'd like to help with the building of the place but I have no experience in these areas. Does anyone recommend a good website with instructions on this?

As a devotee to Everquest and UO, and the soon to be released Shadowbane, I am but your humble servant in this endeavor. I will provide any and everything I possibly can to this project. Simply let me know what you require.

Thanks for the replies guys... Well the mush has an online manual that you can reference at any time. Right now I'm away on business in Dallas Tx, but next friday I should be back to it. I'm still doing minor coding while I can, but we're really needing you guys! If you want to log into the place and leave a message, then create a character (instructions are on the opening screen) and leave me a note (+help bbpost). Some contact information would be great and don't worry about not knowing how. I'll teach you guys everything I can. If you'd rather get a collective class together I'm sure we could find a time that'd be best for everyone. Right now my E-mail is shoddy at best (Having some problems getting to it remotely), so it's best to leave a note in the Mush where you'll more than likely find me after 5pm CST this week.

Well I'm back from my business trip and I've started up working on the place again. If you haven't received an E-mail from me yet, then it's probably because you didn't list it here http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/wink.gif Go ahead and drop me a line and we can start this thing up. At current I'm needing several builders and you can be sure that almost everyone (if not everyone) who sees this thing through with me will be the staff of the place. There's still only one other person helping out, however he doesn't know much about the Necroscope series, so he's a bit handicapped at the moment.

Torvash-

You can count me in... however I don't have a lot of personal time during the week, as the home life is very demanding these days. but on the weekends I'm sure I'll be able to help out. I'll try and get there this weekend, though I'm not familiar with Mush's, Telnet, or coding at all... though I have a pretty good imagination and I think I know more about Starside than I do about the real world . lol

Nope, type this once you connect

Of course you'll substitute charactername for your character name and password for the password you'll wanna use
